Abstract

The signs of adolescence include physical changes driven by hormonal shifts. Among the complaints experienced by adolescent girls during menstruation is dysmenorrhea, often caused by a progesterone hormone imbalance. This hormonal imbalance triggers uterine contractions and stimulates pain responses in adolescent girls, especially at the onset of menstruation. Abdominal Stretching Exercise is a non-pharmacological therapy that can alleviate dysmenorrhea. The research aimed to determine the impact of Abdominal Stretching Exercise on the intensity of dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls at the Nurul Barokah Al-Islami Islamic Boarding School in Buring Kedungkandang, Malang City. The study utilized an experimental approach with a one-group pre-post-test design. The intervention occurred during menstruation from the first to the third day, with a daily duration of 20 minutes. The research population comprised 32 adolescent girls experiencing primary dysmenorrhea. The sample included 32 adolescent girls selected through total sampling. Data collection utilized the Faces Pain Scale-Revised (FPS-R) for pain assessment. Data analysis was performed using the Paired Sample t-test. The research results showed a p-value of 0.000 (α 0.05), indicating that Abdominal Stretching Exercise had an impact on the intensity of dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls at the Nurul Barokah Al-Islami Islamic Boarding School in Buring Kedungkandang, Malang City. The application of Abdominal Stretching Exercise proved effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. This therapy can serve as an alternative option to alleviate dysmenorrhea symptoms.

Abstract

The Klaten Regency stands as one of the districts yet to adopt a mapping system for managing stunting cases. The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and risk factors associated with stunting among toddlers across the 26 sub-districts of Klaten Regency in 2021. Employing a cross-sectional design coupled with an ecological study and mapping approach, the research was conducted throughout 2021. The study encompassed a population of 26 sub-districts, accounting for a total of 6,949 reported cases of stunting in 2021. Total sampling was employed as the sampling technique. The findings revealed that in the mapping of correlated risk factors—specifically, variables such as low birth weight, chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women, birth length, and antenatal care coverage—four sub-districts were identified as having a high risk of stunting. For prospective researchers, it is recommended to explore additional risk factors associated with stunting, such as the prevalence of early marriages, the percentage of individuals living below the poverty line, the proportion of women attaining secondary education or higher, or by incorporating supplementary primary data sources, like the employment status of toddlers' parents.

Abstract

Child marriage is a pervasive global problem that has a significant impact on numerous countries across the globe. The objective of this study is to analyze the disparities in knowledge and attitudes among junior high school students in Cirebon in 2023, before and after an intervention using audiovisual media to raise awareness about the hazards of early marriage. This study utilized a quantitative approach and incorporated a quasi-experimental methodology known as the one-group pretest-posttest design. The sampling method was purposive sampling, specifically targeting kids from thirteen junior high schools in Cirebon, with a total of 204 participants. The study findings suggested a significant improvement in knowledge following the session. During the pretest, 87 students, accounting for 42.6% of the total, demonstrated good knowledge. This number increased to 137 students, or 67.2%, in posttest-1, and further to 197 students, equivalent to 96.6%, in posttest-2. In the pretest, 98 students (48%) demonstrated a positive attitude towards recognizing the risks of early marriage. This percentage climbed to 108 students (52.9%) in posttest-1 and further to 188 students (92.2%) in posttest-2. The statistical analysis using Cochran's test revealed a p-value of 0.00 for both knowledge and attitude, demonstrating substantial disparities in knowledge and attitudes before the intervention, after the first intervention, and after the second intervention about the hazards of early marriage.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a group of retroviruses that cause a decline in the sufferer's immune system, making them susceptible to various types of diseases. HIV/AIDS stigma often causes public rejection of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) because it is part of the cognitive component of a person or group of people who assess PLWHA negatively, therefore health education is needed so that knowledge increases and HIV/AIDS can be detected. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about HIV/AIDS on the level of knowledge and stigma of adolescents about HIV/AIDS at SMPN 18 Tanjung Jabung Timur. This type of research is a quasi-experiment. The population of this study were students at SMPN 18 Tanjung Jabung Timur. Sampling was taken using proportional random sampling and a sample size of 58 students was obtained. The data in this research are primary and secondary data. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test which had previously been tested for normality. There is a difference in the level of knowledge and stigma between the pretest and posttest scores (p value = 0.0000.05), so it can be concluded that there is an influence of health education on the level of knowledge and stigma of adolescents regarding HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Among Indonesian society sweet tea is commonly recognized as an agent to help individuals experiencing hypoglycaemia before they are taken to the hospital. However, tea contains chemical compounds that can lower blood glucose levels. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of sweet tea in managing hypoglycaemia. A literature review method was employed, focusing on journals related to blood sugar levels, blood glucose, postprandial, hypoglycaemia, tea, green tea, black tea, Chinese tea, hypoglycaemia management guidelines, diabetes, and emergencies. Journals were sourced from the internet and limited to the past 15 years. Based on the review results, it is known that the administration of 15 grams of oral monosaccharide glucose can increase blood glucose levels by 2.1 mmol/L in 20 minutes, while 20 grams of oral glucose can increase blood glucose levels by 3.6 mmol/L in 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the administration of 3.3 grams of green tea can decrease postprandial blood glucose levels to 88.95 mmol/dL after 2 hours, the administration catechins of green tea for 369.14 mg actually decreases postprandial blood glucose levels to 88.95±6.13 mg/dL, and the administration of 32 grams of tea extract lowers postprandial blood glucose levels to 81.0 mg/dL. The conclusion drawn is that the administration of oral glucose to hypoglycaemic patients may be less effective when given with tea because tea contains polyphenols that inhibit α-amylase and α-glucosidase, activate glycolytic enzymes, thus inhibiting the process of glucose catabolism.

Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a risk factor for cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury in post-operative coronary artery bypass graft surgery patients. Glycemic control is important to prevent cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury. Postoperative glycemic control suggested 110-150 mg/dL. The aims of this study were to lower blood glucose levels and reduce the risk of occurrence or severity of cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury in post coronary artery bypass graft surgery patients. This study was conducted with a case study design involving 2 post operative coronary artery bypass graft patients who experienced hyperglycemia on the 1st to the 3rd day of treatment. Data collection was carried out from May 22 to May 23, 2023. The results of the case study showed that monitoring blood glucose in post-cardiac surgery patients is very important. Both patients experienced hyperglycemia in the early postoperative phase. With close monitoring and administration of insulin therapy according to the doctor's advice, the blood sugar levels of both patients were controlled. Monitoring urine output and evaluating serum creatinine levels showed that the first patient had cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury stage 1 on day 2 and showed improvement on day 3. The second patient did not develop cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury. The role of critical nurses in monitoring blood glucose levels and administering insulin doses is supported by related research. Strict monitoring and target ranges of blood glucose levels, in collaboration with the medical team are necessary to reduce the risk of cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury events.

Abstract

Excessive online gaming in adolescents can lead to addiction, which may result in cognitive difficulties, social withdrawal, impaired concentration, anxiety, and depression. Preventive measures to prevent online game addiction in adolescents aim to optimize their essential social and emotional development. Preventive measures should provide health education focused on the psychosocial aspects of adolescent social and emotional growth, integrated with Pappasang, a traditional mandate passed down by the ancestors of the Mandar tribe. Unlike general advice, Pappasang emphasizes moral teachings that are expected to be followed. This study aims to evaluate the effect of health education and pappasang on optimizing adolescent psychosocial development. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students SMAN 2 Majene Regency who regularly played online gaming over the past year. The sample in this study consisted of 57 respondents, selected through purposive sampling. Instruments used included an online gaming knowledge questionnaire, a strength and difficulties questionnaire, and an adolescent psychosocial development booklet on online gaming. Data analysis involved univariate analysis using measures of central tendency and a normality test (saphiro-wilk). Bivariate analysis was conducted using a non-parametric test, specifically Wilcoxon test and the marginal homogeneity test. The results indicated that health education combined with Pappasang effectively enhanced adolescents’ knowledge of social and emotional development, as well as their understanding of online gaming.  Social skills enable adolescents to engage in effective social interactions and seek social support when overcoming problems, while strong emotional skills help them manage their emotions in response to difficulties. Adolescents with well-developed social and emotional competencies are less likely to develop online gaming addiction, because they do not use online games as an escape from the their problems.
