Abstract

Clinical pathways involve the health team and part of the patient's records. Hence, team dynamics become a principal factor that needs to be appraised during implementation. Clinical pathways were considered as an additional workload for medical personnel. This research aims to review articles that discuss the perceptions and barriers among medical personnel in implementing clinical pathways. The articles were searched through the PubMed, Willey, ProQuest, and Google Scholar databases, which were published no less than ten years period from 2010 to 2020. The keywords used perception OR response AND barriers OR obstacles AND clinical pathway OR care. The pathway corresponds to the title and purpose of the review and is in full-text form. In total, eight articles meet the review criteria and objectives. The results showed that clinical pathways are perceived as a process that is directed at realizing benefits, creating habits, and requiring enthusiasm, support, and time. Obstacles for medical personnel that often arise in implementing clinical pathways include not having enough time, lack of direction and guidance, lack of staff awareness, lack of compliance in documentation, and lack of staff commitment. Conducting a direct study on evaluating the implementation of clinical pathways in hospitals is recommended.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common gynecological problems experienced by adolescence girls. Introduction to non-pharmacological treatment of dysmenorrhea in adolescence girls is required to reduce the risks arising from dysmenorrhea with pharmacology that has side effects on the body. Moringa Oleifera and Ginger Extracts are non-pharmacological therapies that have analgesic and anti-inflammatory benefits. To find out the comparison of the effectiveness of Moringa Oleifera and Ginger Extracts against the intensity of dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. The research methodology was a Study Case Literature Review of dysmenorrhea with the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. There was a decrease in the intensity of dysmenorrhea in the two respondents. The comparison result was that Ginger Extract was more effective (83.3%) than Moringa Oleifera Extract (50%) in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea. We expected that Moringa Oleifera and Ginger Extracts could be an alternative in handling both prevention and non-pharmacological treatment of dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that can significantly impair the quality of life. Individuals with this condition often experience physical and mental disturbances, affecting their activities, medical therapy, rest, and pain perception, all of which are dimensions of quality of life. Factors that can influence the quality of life of individuals with Diabetes Mellitus include their level of knowledge about the disease, economic status, and duration of illness. This study aims to investigate the internal factors related to the quality of life of individuals with Diabetes Mellitus at the Janti Public Health Center in Malang. The research design employed is descriptive correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consists of 93 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using ANOVA, with the instruments used are the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-BREF and the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ24). The analysis results indicate a significant correlation between knowledge (p=0.003 0.05), economic status (p=0.007 0.05), duration of illness (p=0.008 0.05) to the quality of life. The most influential factor is the duration of illness, as respondents who have been suffering for more than 10 years tend to feel that their activities are disrupted by Diabetes Mellitus and may develop complications in other organs, significantly affecting their quality of life. This study can serve as a reference for further scholarly development, thereby facilitating ongoing exploration of factors associated with quality of life.

Abstract

An increasing number of teenagers are engaging in uncleanliness and unhealthy behavior which is a significant cause for concern. These behaviors range from mild to severe. Clean and healthy living practice are far from the habits of teenagers. The aim of this study was to analyze the Health Belief Model in addressing the unhealthy behavior of adolescents in the Malang Region. The cross-sectional design used with a sample size of 148 individuals, selected through accidental sampling. Instruments included open and closed questionnaires as well as observational sheets, with data collection techniques comprising interviews and observations. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate tests. The results indicated that three variables had a significant relationship with clean and healthy living behaviors: perceived barriers (p=0.000), perceived susceptibility (p=0.000) and perceived self-efficacy (p=0.009). The majority of respondents (63.5%) exhibited good clean and healthy living behaviors. The most dominant variable influencing a clean and healthy living was perceived barriers with OR=17.15. It is recommended that future researchers investigate the effectiveness of clean and healthy living behaviors education, also the dangers of smoking and sexual behavior in adolescents.

Abstract

In January-February 2022, there was a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the omicron virus mutation. Consequently, the government advised conducting remote learning for all students using internet-connected devices. Changes in vision function during childhood occurred globally in 2050 children, with 10% of Indonesia's 66 million children experiencing visual impairments. Maintaining eye health in this age group is facilitated through school health units, and the results are reported to parents during each semester's report card distribution. This study aimed to measure the differences in family developmental tasks concerning childhood vision function. The research design employed was a cross-sectional study using descriptive analysis involving 111 respondents: parents and elementary school students selected through accidental sampling. Data collection took place in October 2022. The measurement tool, developed from Dunst (1984), assessed family developmental tasks, converted into the Brinkman index. Student vision was measured using a Snellen card, and the level of difference was assessed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The Brinkman index results showed that 38.14% had good vision function, 45.35% were adequate, and 16.51% were poor. The hypothesis test yielded a p-value of 0.316 0.05, indicating no significant difference between family developmental tasks and childhood vision function.Top of Form

Abstract

Proper self-management is crucial for individuals living with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). T2DM is a metabolic disorder characterized by high levels of insulin production, decreased insulin activity, or both. The aim of this research was to assess the self-management practices of T2DM patients at the Dinoyo Primary Health Center in Malang. Descriptive analysis was employed as the research method. The study population comprised 44 T2DM patients, of whom 40 were selected as research samples using simple random sampling. Data were collected through a self-completed questionnaire, specifically the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents at the Dinoyo Primary Health Center in Malang, namely 30 individuals (75.0%), demonstrated poor self-management practices in managing their T2DM. Future research endeavors should aim to identify additional factors contributing to poor self-management abilities among T2DM patients, such as the level of family support and blood sugar control.

Abstract

Injuries can affect anyone, including school-age children, and are often caused by a lack of understanding of injury concepts, insufficient knowledge of first aid, and unsafe environments. Therefore, it is crucial to provide first aid and health education to promote overall health and safety. The E-Fa (Education First Aid) Game is a novel approach presented as a game-based Android application. The aim of this study is to analyze the differences in students' knowledge improvement regarding injury management. The study design employed a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Fifty-one respondents were selected through simple random sampling techniques. Data collection involved the use of questionnaires to measure knowledge variables before and after the intervention with the E-Fa Game. The research was conducted at SMP 12 Jember. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. The results revealed that students' knowledge of performing first aid for injuries improved significantly. The average score increased from 5.90 during the pretest to 7.04 during the posttest, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant improvement in knowledge among SMP 12 Jember students in handling injuries after receiving the intervention with the E-Fa Game. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the E-Fa Game in enhancing schoolchildren's knowledge of injury management.

Abstract

IUD is highly affective non-hormonal contraceptives. This research aims to analyze the relationship between the knowledge of PUS and husband's support with the choice of IUD contraception at the Senori Tuban Community Health Center. This research is a cross sectional correlational analytic study, involving 61 respondents selected through a stratified random sampling technique. The independent variable is knowledge of PUS and the husband's support, while the dependent variable is the choice of the IUD contraceptive method. Data were collected using a questionnaire and checklist, and the relationship was analyzed using the chi square test with a significance level of α 0.05. The results showed that most 32 (52.5%) couples had good knowledge about IUD contraception, most 35 (57.4%) husbands provided support, and 35 (57.4%) couples chose the IUD as their contraception method. The analysis concluded a significant relationship between the knowledge of PUS and the husband's support with the choice of IUD contraception. It is recommended that husbands provide positive support to their wives who are KB acceptors. Additionally, they are encouraged to actively seek reliable information directly to health care providers or other sources about their family planning.
