Abstract

This study examines how Islamic elites in Jember Regency perceive Muslim Liyan (other Muslims) and how these perceptions influence the development of religious moderation within Islamic education. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, the research explores the subjective meanings underlying intra-Islamic differences through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving kiai, organizational leaders, and influential preachers. Findings reveal three main typologies of perception: (1) mainstream orthodoxy that prioritizes doctrinal purity, (2) conditional tolerance that accepts diversity within certain boundaries, and (3) rigid exclusivism that rejects the legitimacy of differing groups. These perceptions are shaped by religious educational backgrounds, institutional interests, historical conflicts, and media-driven identity narratives. The study shows that inclusive elite perspectives support the cultivation of religious moderation in Islamic educational institutions, whereas exclusive views tend to foster polarizing attitudes among learners. This research contributes to the discourse on intra-religious exclusivism and offers practical implications for strengthening moderation-oriented curricula, teacher training, and dialogical learning environments within Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Peer Teaching approach in promoting digital security practices and digital footprint management among students at SMP 8 SATAP Dompu. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design. The experimental group received the Peer Teaching intervention, while the control group participated in conventional dissemination through lectures and leaflets. Data were collected through knowledge tests, attitude and behavior questionnaires, classroom observations, and interviews. Data analysis involved paired-sample t-tests, independent t-tests, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and effect size analysis (Cohen’s d). The results showed that the Peer Teaching approach significantly increased digital security knowledge scores from 58.00 to 85.30, with a gain of 27.3%, compared to the control group, which improved by only 13.4%. The t-value (3.652; p < 0.01) and Cohen’s d of 1.12 (large effect size) confirmed the effectiveness of the method. In addition to cognitive improvements, there were observable behavioral changes, such as adjusting privacy settings, using two-factor authentication, and showing greater social awareness in digital contexts. Thus, the Peer Teaching approach proved effective in enhancing students’ literacy and practices related to digital security.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying the storytelling method in increasing students' interest in learning about the stories of the Prophet at MI Nahdlatul Wathan Diniah Islamiah (NWDI) Lingkung. The main problem faced is the low motivation and involvement of students in learning Islamic Cultural History (SKI), which is still dominated by conventional lecture methods. This study used a quantitative approach with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design and involved 24 fourth-grade students as respondents. The research instruments included learning outcome tests, activity observations, and Likert scale questionnaires to measure four indicators of learning interest, namely attention, enjoyment, involvement, and perceived benefits. The results showed a significant increase in all indicators after the storytelling method was implemented. The average questionnaire score increased from 3.04 to 4.47, with the highest increase in the aspects of enjoyment and perceived benefits. Student learning activities also increased from 46% to 86%, and the average learning outcome score rose from 62.3 to 83.1. This increase proves that the storytelling method is effective in fostering students' interest, motivation, and understanding of the moral and spiritual values in the stories of the Prophets. Thus, storytelling is a viable alternative strategy for SKI learning that is more active, inspiring, and meaningful.

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the effect of drying techniques for red chili peppers in the production of powdered Bangkok sauce on sensory quality and total soluble solids. The research was conducted at the Food Processing Laboratory, with the experimental period running from December 2024 to August 2025. The research method applied was experimental, employing sun-drying, oven-drying, and dehydrator techniques for the chili peppers. Sensory quality analysis results showed a significant effect on color when chili drying was done using a dehydrator (α=0.05), whereas no significant effect was detected for chili aroma, texture, spicy taste, sweetness, or chili seed grain attributes. Hypothesis testing for total soluble solids (TSS) using ANOVA indicated a significant difference in sugar content due to drying methods, with the dehydrator technique resulting in 20.23°Brix. Duncan’s analysis demonstrated that the dehydrator drying technique had a significantly greater effect compared to the other methods. Salt content analysis for TSS using ANOVA and Duncan also showed a significantly higher result for the dehydrator method, with 19.53°Brix. Overall, the dehydrator drying technique produced the best quality results.
