Abstract

The Smart TV Merah Putih, as one of the learning technology products in the Merdeka Belajar program, offers great potential in early childhood education. This research aims to describe the process of utilizing the Smart TV Merah Putih in stimulating the cognitive abilities of Group B children at PAUD Satya Prawira. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation of learning activities. The research subjects were 15 Group B children and 2 accompanying teachers. The results revealed that the utilization process of the Smart TV Merah Putih occurs in three main stages: (1) preparation (teachers select educational content from the Digital Aplikasi Sekolah Indonesia (DASI) and Merdeka Mengajar platforms that align with cognitive objectives), (2) implementation (screening animated videos, educational songs, and interactive games that stimulate memory, classification, problem-solving, and number concept recognition), and (3) reflection (teachers conduct Q&A and follow-up activities based on the viewing). This process successfully created engaging learning, increased children's focus and participation, and provided concrete visual-auditory experiences to develop cognitive abilities. The main challenges lie in internet connectivity and the need for teachers to adapt in integrating viewing with hands-on activities. It is concluded that the Smart TV Merah Putih, when supported by thorough teacher planning, can be an effective cognitive stimulation tool in building the logical and creative thinking foundation of early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to implement creative dance based on Sundanese pakakas to develop creativity and local cultural awareness in elementary school students. Globalization and the development of digital technology have resulted in a decline in the younger generation's understanding of traditional Sundanese cultural heritage, especially pakakas (traditional household utensils). This study involved 32 students from Muhammadiyah Elementary School in Tasikmalaya through a descriptive qualitative approach for 18 weeks of implementation. The BASTE (Body, Action, Space, Time, Energy) method was used as a framework in exploring creative dance movements inspired by five types of Sundanese pakakas: se'eng, aseupan, hihid, korang, and koja (Kusuma & Hartono, 2023). The results of the study showed a significant increase in: (1) understanding of Sundanese pakakas from 25% to 85% (+60%), (2) exploration of creative movement from 20% to 90% (+70%), (3) character development from 30% to 88% (+58%), (4) motor skills from 40% to 92% (+52%), and (5) appreciation of local culture from 15% to 90% (+75%). The learning rubric assessment showed that 94% of students achieved the "Very Good" or "Good" category in all aspects of the assessment. The implications of this study indicate that the integration of dance with traditional pakakas is an effective medium in preserving local culture as well as developing the creativity and character competencies of elementary school students.

Abstract

Lontang Dance is a traditional Sundanese art form that developed in Purwaraja Village, Ciamis Regency, and functions as a medium for spiritual and social communication within the community. This study analyzes the symbolic meaning of Lontang Dance through the perspective of symbolic interactionism developed by George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, the study involved participant observation (n=32 participants), in-depth interviews with traditional figures and artists, and visual documentation. The analysis shows that cultural symbols such as the tray, seeng, and ibing movements in Lontang Dance are constructed through a dynamic and ongoing process of social interaction within the community. These symbolic meanings undergo modification and negotiation to maintain religious relevance without eliminating local cultural identity. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how cultural realities are constructed through human interaction and emphasize the importance of local cultural preservation in the context of modernization. This research opens new perspectives in the study of symbolic anthropology and local culture-based arts education.
