Abstract

This study aims to analyze the positive impact of football training programs on the character development of students aged 14-15 at Sekolah Sepak Bola (SSB) Bintang Kejora Masbagik. Character development in adolescents is a crucial aspect of shaping their identity and values, which will guide them in the future. Football, as a team sport, holds significant potential in instilling values such as discipline, sportsmanship, leadership, and cooperation, which are essential for character development. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through interviews with coaches and students, character questionnaires, and direct observation. The questionnaire results show that 64% of students fall into the moderate character development category, 21% into the low category, and 14% into the high category. While most students show progress, there is still room for further improvement in character development. Interviews with the coach revealed that the main challenge is maintaining a balance between technical skill development and consistent character building in every training session. The findings suggest that while the program has a positive impact, further efforts are needed to strengthen character development more evenly among students. This study provides valuable insights for SSB managers and other sports organizations to design more effective training programs for adolescent character development.

Abstract

This study aims to strengthen anti-corruption values among elementary-aged children through the use of anti-corruption storybooks published by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi/KPK) at Al Abna Islamic Boarding School. The anti-corruption values examined include honesty, discipline, and responsibility. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 15 elementary-aged students. The learning actions were implemented through storytelling activities, guided discussions, and story-based assignments using three KPK storybooks: Modo Tak Mau Menari, Piknik di Kumbinesia, and Suatu Hari di Museum Seni. Data were collected through behavioral observation sheets, teacher reflection notes, brief interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative analysis and simple quantitative techniques based on developmental categories: Not Yet Developed (BB), Beginning to Develop (MB), Developed as Expected (BSH), and Very Well Developed (BSB). The results showed a significant improvement in all three anti-corruption values. In the pre-cycle condition, most students were in the BB and MB categories. After the implementation of actions through Cycle II, more than 75% of students reached the BSH and BSB categories in honesty, discipline, and responsibility. These findings indicate that KPK anti-corruption storybooks are effective as character education media in Islamic boarding school settings and are able to promote positive behavioral changes among elementary-aged children.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly reshaped the educational landscape, particularly in the area of vocabulary teaching for foreign language learners. This paper presents a new perspective on vocabulary instruction that integrates language learning theories with AI-driven technologies. Using a descriptive-qualitative method supported by a literature review of national and international journals published within the past decade, the study highlights AI’s potential to promote personalization, enhance learning efficiency, and increase interactivity. Tools such as chatbots powered by large language models (LLMs), mobile-based gamified platforms, and adaptive learning systems can provide content tailored to individual learners’ needs and profiles. However, several challenges remain, including inadequate infrastructure, insufficient teacher preparedness, ethical and privacy issues, and the risk of excessive dependence on AI. To address these issues, the study proposes strategies such as teacher professional development, strengthening digital literacy, and integrating AI into curricula in alignment with sound pedagogical principles. Ultimately, AI is envisioned not as a substitute for teachers but as a tool to support and empower them as facilitators of intelligent and engaging learning experiences. The successful implementation of AI-based vocabulary instruction depends on the synergy between technology, pedagogy, and local cultural values. The article concludes with practical recommendations for educators and learners to adapt to these technological shifts thoughtfully and critically, encouraging a more dynamic and transformative learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe language acquisition and language functions in preschool-aged inclusive children in Mataram City. The research was conducted at two schools, namely Kindy House (a private school) and SLB Negeri 1 Mataram (a public special school). The focus of the study is directed toward the stages of language acquisition and the language functions that emerge in children’s interactions within the school environment. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, utterance recording, and interviews with teachers. The research subjects consist of preschool-aged inclusive children ranging from 3 to 6 years old, representing three main characteristics: children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Down Syndrome (DS). Data analysis was conducted by classifying children’s language data based on stages of language acquisition and language functions according to Halliday’s theory. The results indicate that language acquisition among inclusive children occurs at varying stages and does not always align with their chronological age. The dominant language functions observed include instrumental, regulatory, and interactional functions, while representational functions remain limited to some subjects. These findings suggest that mapping language acquisition and language functions can serve as an initial basis for identifying the linguistic profiles of preschool-aged inclusive children, particularly for preschool teachers and parents

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the peer tutoring (peer teaching) method in learning Arabic, particularly in speaking skills (maharah kalam), among seventh-grade students at SMPI PK Muhammadiyah Delanggu. This research was motivated by students’ low speaking proficiency, differences in prior Arabic learning experiences, fear of making mistakes when speaking, and the lack of varied teaching methods that resulted in passive learning and low student confidence. The peer tutoring method was chosen because it allows students to learn through peers who have higher competency, thereby creating a learning atmosphere that is more familiar, communicative, and collaborative. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and validated using triangulation, audit trail, and member checking. The data sources consisted of the school principal, the Arabic language teacher, and seventh-grade students. The findings indicate that the implementation of peer tutoring helps students become more active, confident, and better able to understand Arabic learning materials. Peer tutoring proved to be effective because students feel more comfortable asking questions and discussing with their peers. This method also reduces teacher dominance, enhances two-way interaction, and helps bridge the gap between students who have and have not previously studied Arabic. Thus, peer tutoring can serve as an effective alternative instructional strategy to improve students’ Arabic speaking skills.
