Abstract

Nutritional problems can cause stunting in children under five which eventually affects the quality of human resources in Indonesia. Stunting is a growth and development disorder caused by poor nutrition, repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation in children. Stunting cases reach 149.2 (22%) million children worldwide and 6.3 million children in Indonesia. Stunting is caused by a lack of knowledge, appetite, and poor feeding behavior. Tuina massage is a complementary therapy to increase appetite. This community service aims to establish Aisyiah Stunting Cadres (KSA) with Tuina massage expertise. KSA assists families with stunted children by providing Tuina massage training for mothers and distributing appetite stimulants. This activity covered 3 stages, namely KSA establishment, training, and family assistance. This involved 20 cadres who meet the criteria of women aged 20-50 years who are physically and mentally healthy. The training materials covered stunting, physical examinations, and Tuina massage. The trained cadres had to assist families and distribute appetite stimulants. This community service managed to establish KSA consisting of 20 cadres. The cadre’s knowledge and skills increased after the training. KSA with insufficient knowledge and skills reduced from 30% to 5%, while KSA with sufficient knowledge and skills reduced from 60% to 30%. KSA With good knowledge and skills increased from 10% to 65%. Around 24 children received appetite stimulants. Conclusion: The establishment of KSA and the provision of appetite stimulants can be an alternative solution to address stunting in children under five.

Abstract

This article describes planning, implementation, and long-term strategies of a community service project and aims to help high school students become more proficient public speakers. The first step of the preparation process was determining the needs of the students through preliminary surveys. Next, a WhatsApp group was created for coordination, and Zoom meetings were held to address the difficulties that the students were having with English public speaking. The main problems that were found were pessimism, fear of making mistakes, articulation difficulties, and lack of confidence. To solve these problems, training materials including the basic theory of public speaking, speaking techniques, real-world exercises, and self-evaluation were created. Videos and PowerPoint presentations were also included in both onsite and online training. The program's execution comprised eight sessions where students learned about different public speaking techniques, put them into practice, and got feedback. Strategies for sustainability, including ongoing teacher training, frequent workshops, the creation of accessible learning modules, the establishment of public speaking groups, and recurring evaluations, were suggested to guarantee the program's long-term impact. The project effectively increased students' self-assurance and public speaking abilities, and continued and increased training efforts. To format your abstract, use the Microsoft Word template style.

Abstract

SD Genta Saraswati is a private elementary school located in the center of Gianyar City. Based on initial interviews, it was stated that teachers encountered many student conditions that required immediate treatment, such as sprains, wounds, stomach aches, fevers, nosebleeds, and other conditions. For this condition, teachers have provided simple treatment, but there is still minimal understanding and skills in providing first aid for children's accidents at school. The aim of this community service activity is to empower partners in providing first aid for children's accidents at school. The method of implementing the program is carried out through socialization, training, assistance with first aid equipment, mentoring, and evaluation of activity results by fully involving partners. This program involved 16 participants, consisting of teachers and staff at SD Genta Saraswati. After delivering the program, participants' knowledge increased, which can be seen from the increase in the average pre-test score from 6.56 to 9.06 (p<0.05). After carrying out practical training in providing basic life support and first aid in accidents, it was also seen that the participants were able to practice how to provide first aid in accidents that occurred at school. By carrying out this activity, it is hoped that teachers and staff at SD Genta Saraswati will be able to provide first aid independently for accidents or illnesses that occur at school.
