Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and trust on the interest in paying non-cash zakat through the digital Islamic banking system among the Muslim millennial generation in Bandar Lampung City. The background of the study is based on the rapid development of digital technology and the increasing trend of donations through digital channels, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, religiosity and trust are assumed to be two main factors influencing an individual's decision to distribute non-cash zakat. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through a questionnaire distributed to 96 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression to test the relationship between the independent variables (religiosity and trust) and the dependent variable (interest in paying non-cash zakat). The results show that religiosity has no significant effect, while trust has a positive and significant influence on the interest in paying non-cash zakat through the digital Islamic banking platform. These findings provide important implications for zakat management institutions and Islamic financial institutions in developing more effective zakat digitalization strategies that are in line with the characteristics of the millennial generation.

Abstract

One of the supporting contracts used by BMT is the wakalah contract, but in practice there are still differences in implementation and application that are not in accordance with sharia. This causes a discrepancy between the contract in practice and in theory. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the application of the wakalah bil ujrah financing contract with the DSN-MUI Fatwa at BMT Eka Mandiri Mertoyudan. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data was obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with the Chairman of the Management, Tellers, Administrators, Marketing, and customers. The collected data will be analyzed to obtain relevant results. The results of the study indicate that the wakalah bil ujrah contract at BMT Eka Mandiri Mertoyudan in its practical application does not yet comply with sharia rules and is not in accordance with the DSN MUI fatwa. The wakalah bil ujrah contract is used to conduct transactions on behalf of customers, not to provide funds directly to customers. In practice, there are still obstacles that need to be overcome, such as delays in customer installment payments and limited witnesses in the implementation of the contract from the BMT. In order for the contract to be implemented properly, the BMT needs to review the implementation of the wakalah bil ujrah contract so that it complies with sharia principles and ensures that this contract functions as intended.

Abstract

The state budget deficit is a condition where expenditures exceed revenues. In Indonesia, there has been a deficit almost every year. If this condition continues, the main risks are an increase in national debt and economic instability, which will have an impact on the welfare of the people. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the state budget deficit. The variables studied are Government Securities, Tax Revenue, and Interest Rates. The data used is time series data from 2007 to 2024. The approach applied is the Error Correction Model (ECM), which aims to examine long-term and short-term effects. According to this study, government securities do not have a significant short-term effect but have a considerable positive long-term impact. The long-term and short-term effects of the tax revenue variable are significantly negative. Meanwhile, the interest rate variable has no significant effect on either time period. The government is expected to utilize this research as a guide in formulating policies. This research helps academics expand their knowledge and serves as a source of literacy and information for the general public.

Abstract

Global warming, caused by the increase of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere, is one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, one of the main sources of greenhouse gases, are increasing annually. Transportation and environmental budgets are two of the many factors that influence the quantity of carbon dioxide emissions. This study aims to investigate the relationship between carbon dioxide emissions and transportation and environmental budgets. Multiple linear regression analysis is the quantitative tool used in this investigation. The population studied includes Indonesia and covers 20 years, from 2004 to 2023. The results of the analysis indicate that while motorized traffic in particular contributes significantly to the increase in carbon dioxide emissions in Indonesia, environmental budgets have no discernible impact on these emissions. This study is expected to be useful for various stakeholders, including the general public, scientists, and the government as policymakers.

Abstract

Sharia Financing Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSPPS) as a sharia microfinance institution has an important role in empowering the community's economy based on Islamic principles. One of the challenges faced is the risk of default due to the death of a member, which can have an impact on the sustainability of the institution and raise issues of justice. This study aims to determine the mechanism for handling cases of default due to death at KSPPS Guna Lestari Jaya Tegalsambi Branch, to analyze its compliance with sharia principles from an Islamic economic perspective, and the implications for institutional sustainability and member welfare. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that KSPPS Guna Lestari Jaya implements settlement through deliberation, tabarru' funds, and a sharia insurance scheme (ta'awun) according to previous agreements. This mechanism reflects the principles of mutual assistance, social responsibility, and justice, and avoids elements of usury and gharar. Thus, the handling of default due to death at this KSPPS is in accordance with Islamic economic principles.

Abstract

Developing countries face income inequality, limited fiscal space, and low financial inclusion. This condition demands fair, sustainable, and inclusive fiscal policies. This study aims to formulate a contemporary, inclusive Islamic fiscal policy model based on the principles of public finance in Abu Yusuf's thought. In the context of economic challenges in developing countries, such as distribution inequality, fiscal instability, and the limited reach of conventional financial systems, classical Islamic thought is considered to have strategic relevance. This study employs a qualitative approach, incorporating a literature review and conceptual analysis of the work Kitab al-Kharaj, as well as contemporary fiscal policy literature. The results demonstrate that Abu Yusuf's principles, including distributive justice, collection efficiency, and state accountability, can be effectively implemented in the design of Islamic fiscal policy, promoting social inclusion and economic stability. This study presents a conceptual model of fiscal policy grounded in the maqasid sharia, emphasising equity and financial sustainability. These findings contribute to the advancement of Islamic fiscal policy theory and offer normative recommendations for the development of public policy in developing countries.

Abstract

Unemployment is one of the enduring macroeconomic issues that both developed and emerging nations, including those in ASEAN, must deal with. The purpose of this study is to examine, from an Islamic economic perspective, how unemployment rates in 10 ASEAN countries relate to literacy, population density, and educational achievement. Panel data from the 10 ASEAN nations for 2018–2024, obtained from the World Bank and the ASEAN Statistical Annual, is used in this research using a saturation sampling technique. The data was analyzed using EViews 12 software at a significance level of α=0.05. According to the research findings, literacy levels have a considerable positive impact on unemployment rates in the ten ASEAN countries, whereas population density and educational attainment had little effect. At the same time, population density, education levels, and literacy levels all have a big impact on unemployment rates. In Islamic economics, unemployment is seen as a social and economic problem that is contrary to the principles of justice and welfare of the maqashid sharia, especially the preservation of life and property.
