Abstract

The preparation of brewed white sticky rice extract or brem from white glutinous rice had been researched by using variation concentration of yeast. The yeasts were bought from traditional market without trade mark. Tape extract obtained by squeezed tape mass using a pressurized equipment, water of tape obtained further filtered using a 60 mesh sieve and the waste is disposed. The variation of yeast influences the pH of liquid tape extract. The optimum concentration of yeast was 1,5%. The research of orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) that using direct compress method was designed by using Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) mixture design programme with two components mixture: brewed white sticky rice extract and corn starch (CS), and metochlopramide as model drug. Brewed white sticky rice extract and CS were formulated become nine designs of formula. Brewed white sticky rice extract was dominant increasing flow and compactability of ODT mass, but decreasing wetting time, disintegrating time and dissolution rate. CS was dominant increasing wetting time, disintegrating time, water absorption ratio and dissolution rate. The optimum ODTs formula was brewed white sticky rice extract (20%) and CS (80%) with flow (8,68±1,72 sec), hardness (2,15±0,14 kg), wetting time (40,00±1,67 sec), disintegrating time (36±10,07 sec), disintegrating time in oral cavity (46,17±2,23 sec) and dissolution rate (0,172 mg/sec).

Abstract

Buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) dapat digunakan sebagai anti jerawat karena kandungan flavonoid. Pengujian diameter daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dari ekstrak buah belimbing wuluh pada konsentrasi 8% memiliki daya hambat sebesar 8-9 mm. Ekstrak buah belimbing wuluh kemudian diformulasi menjadi masker gel peel-off dengan dosis ekstrak sebesar 8% sebagai anti jerawat, dibuat sebanyak tiga formula dengan variasi PVA 10, 12 dan 14%. Sediaan masker gel peel-off dibuat dengan metode pelarutan dan pencampuran, kemudian dievaluasi meliputi pengujian homogenitas, pengamatan visual, kekuatan tarikan, kecepatan waktu pengeringan, viskositas, sifat alir, uji aktivitas daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Propionibacterium acnes secara mikrobiologi.

Abstract

Goat milk containing many amino acids and fatty acids that can be used as an emollient and humectant in skin liquid soap. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of variation in cocamide DEA concentration on a face liquid soap stability. Face liquid soap formulae containing 10% goat milk and different concentration of cocamide DEA (3%, 4%, 5%, and 6%) were made by dissolving and mixing methods. The goat milk liquid soap products were evaluated and tested for their stability. Stability were justified from the colour, smell, viscosity, pH, density, and homogenity. The result showed that higher cocamide DEA concentration would produce better soap stability consecutively. The goat milk liquid soap containing 6% of cocamide DEA is the best formula investigated.

Abstract

Kaempferia angustifolia Rosc. (Zingiberaceae) dan K. rotunda L. di Jawa dikenal sebugai Kunci pepet dan Kunir putih. Kedua macam tumbuhan tersebut biasanya tumbuh di daerah hutan sekunder di Jawa. Rhizoma dari K. angustifolia berbentuk serbuk kering atau tunbuhan segar biasa dijual di pasar tradisional di Indonesia, dan dikenal sebagai pencegah dan pengobatan kanker secara tradisional. Ekstrak khloroform dari rhyzoma K. Angustifolia menunjukkan efek antioksidan (scavenging) yang signifikan terhadap radikal bebas 1,7-difenil2 pikril hidrasil (DPPH). (IC50 = 370 ug/mL). Dua macam senyawa dari ekstrak khloroforin telah diisolasi dan diidentifikasi. Senyawa 1, suatu khalkon yang telah dikenal, yaitu, 2'hidroksi-4', 4', 6'-trimetoksi khalkon adalah senyawa yang aktif (IC5, = 97 ug/mL). Senyuwu 2, suatu sikloheksan epoksid yang telah dikenal, (+)-krotepoksida, tidak aktif (IC;, = 690 ugi mL) Struktur senyawa 1 dan 2 diidentifikasi berdasarkan data spektroskopik, MS dan 2DNMR (HMQC dan HMBC) dan dibandingkan dengan data yang telah dipublikasikan.

Abstract

The research related to the interaction study, synthesis and characterization of molecular imprinted polymer using dimethylamylamine (DMAA) as the template molecule and the functional monomer methacrylate acid has been conducted. Molecular Imprinted Polymer (MIP) is a separation method made by the molecule template in the polymer matrix followed by removing the template molecule by washing for giving the permanent framework groove. The MIP was made by mixing the DMAA as the template molecule, with the methacrylate acid as the functional monomer, and the ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker with the ratio 1:6:20. Porogen solvents used were the chloroform and the initiator azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN). The crystal MIP and the NIP without the DMAA were characterized using Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR), and the result showed that there have been differences among the MIP, the NIP and the MIP after being extracted. The characterization using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) showed that the NIP as the comparison having flat morphology, while the MIP having irregular morphology and less pores. Then the MIP after being extracted has irregular, rough morphology and a lot of pores. The result reveals the interaction between the DMAA and the methacrylate acid that is the hydrogen bonded with the Gibbs free energy obtained is -5.434 j/mol. The imprinting factor of 2,353 is obtained. The highest desorption descending capacity is chloroform with the MIP 738% better. For the MIP and NIP methanol, it is found that the MIP is 123% better. Then the MIP which is desorbed by the chloroform is better 602% than the MIP resorbed by the methanol, and the ethyl acetate cannot desorb the DMAA.

Abstract

Kaduk betel leaves (Piper sarmentosum Roxb. ex. Hunter) contain flavonoids and alkaloids that have anti-inflammatory activity. Processing thick extract into a dry extract is required to determine the appropriate dose and increase the homogeneity. The purpose of tahhis study was to determine the effect of drying method to physical properties of dried powder and its antiinflammatory activity. Thick extract was dried using maltodextrin and lactose as adsorbents with concentrations of extract-adsorbent ratio 1: 1, 1: 2 and 1: 3. Method of drying were freeze drying and adsorbent. The evaluation results based on organoleptic dried powder, water content and flow properties. The water content of dried powder which is dried by freeze drying is smaller than that of the adsorbent. Organoleptic and flow properties of freeze dried powder results were also better. The best dried powder in each method tested its anti-inflammatory activity using BSA. The test results showed that the anti-inflammatory activity of dried extract of freeze drying (extract-maltodextrin 1:3) have higher activity with IC50 551.79 ppm compared to dried extract with adsorbent (extract-maltodextrin 1:3) 598.30 ppm.

Abstract

Hypertension is the main problem in Indonesia and all of the world. The primary goal of hypertension treatment is reduce the total risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The high prevalence of hypertension and the requirement of medications for prolonged periods, caused the drug- treatment cost represents a major issue in health economics. The aim of this study was to describe patients characteristic when using antihypertensive drugs in polyclinic PMI hospital Bogor, determine the most cost effective drugs for blood pressure reduced output and asses the influence of hypertensive treatments to quality of life, analyzed the relationship between cost effectiveness and quality of life. This research conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study. Analytical study was Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA). Data were collected from primary data (using SF-12 questionnaire) and secondary data (receipt, medical record and laboratory financial data). All data analyzed using SPSS for windows version 17. Of the 137 patient, most of them women (52.6%), average age 58.6 ± 11.4 years, range 28 – 87 year, most of the patients (51.1%) with comorbid conditions and combination therapy (50.4%) was used more commonly. Results of this study indicating that the most cost effective drugs for blood pressure reduced output was combination of Beta Blocker (BB) + diuretic. The outcome measures of cost effectiveness and patient quality of life are correlated with one another.

Abstract

Nowadays Buah Merah (Pandanus conoideus Lam.), the Indonesian herb is famous for medicinal treatment. The chemical constituens of the fruit have been examined, and brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) have been carried out. On phytochemical screening, the fruit showed the existence of: volatile oil, sterol, triterpene, carrotene, higher fatty acid, flavon aglycon, emodols, coumarine, tannin, steroid glycoside, reducing compound, flavonoside, antosianoside and saponine. Brine Shrimp Lethality Test showed that the LCs of the n-hexane fraction of the fruit was 24.17 ppm, the ethyl acetate fraction was 29.24 ppm, while the methanol fraction was 94.01 ppm. It could be concluded that the n-hexane fraction has the highest biological activity.

Abstract

Gambier (uncaria gambier) is known to have antioxidant properties and some studies attributed to the presence of polyphenols. The objective of this study was to investigate the potential of various gambier available in Indonesian market as free radical scavenger and to evaluate its antihyperglycemic potency as α-glucosidase inhibator. Isolation of catechin was carried out by extraction with distilled ethyl acetate as solvent. Analysis of catechin in the gambier dried extracts were carried out by TLC method. The molecular weight and catechin content of gambier dried extracts were determined by analyzing mass spectra and spectrophotometry, respectively. The free radical scavenging aactivity ofextracts were measured by using 1, 1-diphenyl1-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) as stable free radical compound. The antihyperglycemic potency of gambier dried extracts were asseyed, as α-glucosidase inhibator. The results showed that various gambier available in the market were very active as antioxidant, indicated by the IC50 vvalues of gambier dried extracts were 4.6 to 18.2 µg/mL. Whilst th IC50 for glucosidase inhibition varies from 40.45 to 52.43 µg/mL, and classified as a moderate antidiabetic.

Abstract

Perkembangan penelitian dan pengetahuan tentang sel punca terus meningkat, kini sel punca berpeluang menjadi terapi modern dengan pendekatan regeneratif yang memberi harapan kesembuhan untuk berbagai jenis penyakit yang sulit untuk disembuhkan seperti penyakit genetik, degeneratif, trauma dan keganasan.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan isolasi sel punca pluripoten dari sel fibroblas kulit asal jaringan preputium secara enzimatis dan eksplan yang dilanjutkan dengan karakterisasi penanda khas cluster differentiation (CD) 105 dan surface-stage embryonic antigen (SSEA)-3 menggunakan sistem pemurnian berbasis magnet (MACS). Hasil isolasi sel fibroblast secara enzimatik maupun eksplan diperbanyak secara kultur ekspansi dengan variasi medium dan pasase sel serta dikarakterisasi untuk mendapatkan subpopulasi sel dengan CD 105+ dan SSEA3+. Penggunaan conditioned medium, tingkat pasasi yang rendah dan konfluensi yang tinggi meningkatkan persentase subpopulasi sel CD105+ dibandingkan dengan medium standar, tingkat pasase yang lebih tinggi dan konfluensi yang lebih rendah.Subpopulasi sel CD 105+ dan SSEA3+ yang dikultur dan diekspansi menampakkan respon terhadap pewarna Alkalin fosfatase yang menunjukkan adanya populasi stem cell.
