Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the sociological elements of the novel and its application in the teaching of Indonesian language and literature. The method used to analyze the novel is by using descriptive method. After the authors analyzed the novel Ranah 3 Warna through elemental analysis of sociological, finally the author can draw the conclusion that the element of sociological contained in the novel Ranah 3 Warna focus of study on the theme "Mendaki Tiga Puncak Bukit" there are five elements of sociological ie social interaction with number six sentences, class social two sentences, the social group one sentence, two sentences of social problems, and social mobility of the sentence. The most dominant element is the element of social interaction that consists of six sentences. The results of this study show that social interaction is very important and is indirectly able to change the mindset at a time can change the social status of each individual. In learning extrinsic elements specifically sociological literature in school, students will be able to determine the elements of sociological through text analysis.

Abstract

This study examined the application of hypnoteaching in problem based learning (PBL) to the junior high school student’s mathematical communication ability. This study used design research a static group comparison of two experimental groups. First experiment received PBL without hypnoteaching. Second experiment received PBL and hypnoteaching. This study was tested to grade seventh junior high school students with quasi experimental method. The result of this study showed that there are differences the mathematical communication abilities between students who obtained hypnoteaching in PBL and students who didn’t obtain hypnoteaching in PBL.

Abstract

One of the abilities that need to be owned and developed by the students is the ability of understanding mathematics. This research aims to determine the comparison of the students’ understanding mathematical ability results that get a cooperative Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) and traditional learning model. The method used was a quasi-experiment. Population were all of seven grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Garut. Two classes were selected randomly as the sample. One class as an experimental class and the other class as the control class. The research finding indicate that the experimental group learning using cooperative learning type of RTE better with an average increase of the pre-test and post-test of 15.42 to 42.24, while classroom learning control using traditional learning with an average increase of the pre-test and post-test of 14.93 to 32.93. Thus, students are learning with RTE better than students who learning with traditional learning.

Abstract

This developmental research tried to develop instruction media for student of elementary education to learn tenses. This research applied 4-D developmental model (four D models) from Thiagarajan (1974) with the research subject were the 5th grade students of the Baureno I State Elementary School. This model followed four phases: defining, designing, development, and dissemination. But due to the limitation of time, the 4-D model adopted in this research was only to development phases. The results of the data analysis to the product quality indicated that the Word Cube media developed have been suitable and qualified to use as observing tenses media of elementary education with 94%. The result of media implementation also indicated that there were increasing in student understanding of the tenses from 62.02% become 93.10%. This research was also successful to develop Word Cube media to observe tenses for elementary education in the form of (1) word cube, (2) base of cube, (3) instruction, and (4) the package. Generally, the conclusion of the research was one of the reasons that increase the student understands of tenses was Word Cube

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to improve the student activities and conceptual understanding using three-stage fishbowl decision strategy in pressure subject. This research design was the pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of this research was 65 students of 8th grade that was determined by using purposive sample method. The data were collected by test, observation, and documentation. The data was analyzed by using gain test and one-tail t-test. The gain-test was obtained that the activity and students understanding of pressure concept for experimental group was increased in medium level, whereas for control group in minimum level. The one-tail t-test was obtained that the activity and students understanding of pressure concept for the experimental group were better than the control group.

Abstract

This study focuses on identifying pre-service primary school teachers’ works with division problem using a mathematical approach called Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). A case study was conducted to thirty-six pre-service primary school teachers in one private university in Jakarta who took RME course. The result of analysis of the participants' written responses indicates that the approach led the participants to develop mathematical meaning to deal with division problems by means of various strategies. In compliance with the tenets of RME, to wit, the use of model and symbol for progressive mathematization, the study shows that the participants could acquire orientation for developing their mathematical ideas and strategies. Implications of the findings are discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in mathematics achievement between Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) class and Means Ends Analysis (MEA) class. A quasi-experimental method was adopted to obtain the answer to the research question. Sample of the study consisted of 65 fourth-grade students were selected by cluster random sampling from population that is all of the students in SDN Kembangan Selatan 01 Pagi. The sample consisted of by two groups, i.e. RME class that involved 32 students and MEA class that involved 33 students. The mathematics achievement data obtained by 6-item written test. Based on t-test analysis can be concluded that there is the difference between students' mathematics achievement by using RME and MEA. In this context, the research findings indicate that students’ mathematics achievement who received RME better than MEA. One of the factors supporting the finding is that the RME provides more opportunities for students to build meaningful learning through a process of reinventing the mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of inquiry learning and problem-based learning on science achievement of 4th grade student. This research method is quasi-experiment with non-equivalent control. This research sample is 58 students in SDN Cipinang Besar Selatan 19 Pagi who divided into two groups, 31 students are in inquiry learning class and 27 students are in problem-based learning class. Analysis of t-test indicated the difference of students’ achievement between students who in inquiry learning and problem-based learning classes. The average of science achievement in inquiry learning class is higher than problem-based learning class.

Abstract

The study aims to develop and validate problem-based direct instruction model in learning of social studies and determine the effectiveness of the learning model in improving the students' analytical ability. This study employed the Research and Development (RnD) with the 4D model that being modified into the 3D model. The subjects are the fourth-grade students of Gugus Kartini Semarang elementary school. The data are collected by interview, test, observation, and questionnaire. The data analysis involves descriptive qualitative analysis, classical completeness analysis, average completeness analysis, comparative analysis, and analysis of the increase of Normalized Gain. The result of data analysis showed that the average of validator value for learning tools is 3,74. The average percentage of teacher responses is 93,1%, student responses are 90%, and teachers’ teaching skills is 91.3%. The average of students’ analytical ability is 84,53 which is above the minimum completeness criteria. Furthermore, the normalized Gain test indicated an increase in student analytical ability by 71%. Therefore, the finding of this study indicated that problem-based direct instruction model that developed have valid, effective and practical value.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to find out the influence of using Brain Based Learning model to mathematical creative thinking skills of student. The research method was quasi experiment with Posttest-Only Control Design. Population of this research are 60 students consist of 30 from experiment class and 30 from control class. The technique sampling was saturation sampling. The data analysis using T test. Prior to hypothesis testing, there were two prerequisite tests that consist of the normality test and homogeneity test. The result of prerequisite tests showed that both classes had the normal distribution and the same variance. Based on the t-test, it can be seen that there was an influence of Brain Based Learning model mathematical creative thinking.
