Abstract

Abstract: One of basic components in teaching learning process is speaking skill. The aim of this research was to describe the process, result, and factors that influence the improvement of speaking skill by using Riddle game. The research was classified into classroom action research. The sample was students at tenth grade MAS-TI Tabek Gadang, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The data were collected by using observation, questionnaire, field note, and test. The data were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed.  The findings of the research revealed that the riddle game could improve the students’ speaking skill. The students were asking and answering questions actively, moreover they could expressed the idea and give some explanation precisely. It was valuable in the sense that it helped the students to improve their speaking skill. Kata kunci: keterampilan berbicara, metode bermain teka-teki

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan  bentuk, fungsi dan konteks penggunaan  ungkapan tabu tabu oleh peserta Indonesia Lawyers Club.  Hasil penelitian yang ditemukan adalah sebagai berikut; (1) berdasarkan bentuknya ungkapan tabu yang ditemukan dibedakan menjadi dua yaitu berdasarkansatuan gramatikal  terdiri dari kata dan frase, dan brdasarkan sumber referensnya  dapat dikelompokkan sembilan, yaitu (a) ungkapan tabuyang bersumber dari keadaan,  (b) ungkapan tabu yang berhubungan dengan kotoran, (b) ungkapan tabuyang berhubungan dengan  binatang, (c) ungkapan tabu yang berhubungan dengan  agama, (d) ungkapan tabuyang berhubungan dengan sifat, (e) ungkapan tabuyang  berhubungan dengan perbuatan (f) ungkapan tabuyang  berhubungan dengan makhluk ghaib, (g) ungkapan tabuyang berhubungan dengan kebijakan pemerintahan, (h) ungkapan tabuyang  berhubungan dengan  aktivitas seks, (2) berdasarkan fungsi ditenemukan 5 fungsi ungkapan tabu, yaitu a) makian (b) menunjukkan kekesalan atau kemarahan (c)menyindir, (d) merendahkan, dan (e) mengolok-olok. Selanjutnya, ,untuk penggunaan konteks bahasa tabu ini meliputi konteks kemarahan, mengejek, berkomentar, meminta jawaban, dan menanggapi jawaban. Abstract

Abstract: Islamic religiosity in the literature novels is one way to provide insight to the values ​​that have faded in the community. Islamic religiosity in the novel help shape the nation's personal character. This study aims to describe Islamic religiosity in this novel by Asma Nadia. Dimensions of religiosity analyzed consisted of aspects of theology, law, and morality.This research is content analysis by using descriptive methods. Literary works studied are novel by Asma Nadia. The novel was selected using purposive sampling technique. In analyzing  thedata, the writer carried out  three steps: (1) data reducing (Choosing, simplification, and transforming), (2) data display (data description and explain the data that have been reduced), and (3) make conclusion.The results showed that: (1) belief in the will of God, and prayers addressed to the Prophet, a discussion of the practice that can flow to those who have died is an aspect of faith found in the CDUS a Divine element, nubuwwah, spiritual, (2) implementation of worship pilgrimage and worship obligatory or sunnah prayers conducted figures, as well as the good relationship between the main character with a subordinate figures showed aspects of worship and muamalah law, (3) the attitude of patience, resignation, and thanks to God shows a moral aspect to God other than that, Cinta figures also being kind to the existing environment. These three aspects can be implicated in the learning of students in character education. Kata kunci : religiositas Islam, novel Cinta di Ujung Sajadah

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the types, strategies and situation context of expressive speech act used by Mario Teguh in Golden Ways program. This research uses a qualitative descrtive method. Data collection was done downloading Mario Teguh video recording of Mario Teguh’s speech act in Golden Ways program on Metro TV through site www.metrotvnew.com. Based on the research findings, we can conclude the following three things. First, the types of expressive speech act used by Mario Teguh in Golden Ways program, showing gratitude, congratulating, complimenting, criticizing, apologizing. The finding showed that complimenting is the most dominant expressive speech act used by Mario Teguh. As a motivator, he should try to cheer the audiences up so that his intention can be accepted by them. Moreover, it will increase the rating of this program. Second, speech strategies used by Mario Teguh in Golden Ways program, speaking in what it is without a word, speaking with a word of positive politeness, speaking with a word of negative politeness, off record speech.  Based on findings, the most dominant strategy used is speaking with a word of positive politeness since Mario Teguh tried to cheer the audiences up by exalting audiences of actual fact so that either opinion or critics conveyed can be accepted by them. Third, speech situation context found in Mario Teguh Golden Ways program. The context of using speech strategy in what it is without a word tended to be used on situation the situation of younger audiences, sensitive subject (-K +Sst), speech strategy with a word of positive politeness is used on situation the situation of younger audiences, sensitive subject (-K+Sst), speech strategy with a word of negative politeness is used on situation the situation of younger audiences, insensitive subject (-K-Sst), and off record speech strategy tended to be used on situation the situation of younger audiences, insensitive subject (-K –Sst). Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to describe the forms, strategies and contexs of the teacher’s directive speech acts and the students’ responses toward the teachers’ directive speech acts in delivering learning materials in muhadarah activities at MTsN Lubuk Buaya Kota Padang. The subjects of the research was the teachers delivering materials in muhadarah activities. They were chosen based on the scheduled arranged by school. This was a qualitative researh which used descriptive method. The data collected was the teachers’ directive speech acts in muhadarah activities. The sources of the data were seven teachers delivering materials in that activity. The data gotten was analyzed by inventing, identifying, classifying the forms of directive speech acts, discourse strategy, speech contexts and the students’ responses based on the theory applied. It then was reported and conclusion was drawn. The result of the research indicated  that the directive speech acts forms used in muhadarah activity were requesting, asking question, prohibiting, requiring, permitting, and sugesting. The directive speech acts form that was used frequently was asking questions and that which was rarely used was prohibiting. The strategies of directive speech acts used by the teachers were frankly speaking without courtesy, direct speech with positive politeness, direct speech with negative politeness, and vaguely speaking. The contexts of speech of teachers directive speech acts involved seven teachers as the locutor, and the students as the interlocutor, seven topic, and in average the utterances were produced in quite situation.  The students’ response toward the teacher’s directive speech acts were  responded positively by the students. Abstract

Abstract: This research is purposed to explain subsequent concerns. Describe the relationship between student’s critical ability and student’s popular-article writing skill in class XI SMA Negeri 5 Padang and describe the relationship between critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill based on student’s visual learners, auditory learners,  tactual learners at class XI SMA Negeri 5 Padang. This correlation research is taken population of students in class XI SMA Negeri 5 Padang year of school 2013/2014. Sample collection in 30 students this research is conducted by using proportional random sampling. Research instrumen is objective test to critical reading, working test to popular-article writing skill and questionnaire to learning style. data were analyzed b describe correlation.This research find out the magnitude of relationship between critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill, whether individually or collectively, based on student’s learning style.The result of the research indicated that (1) there is a significant relationship between student’s critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill at the rate of 0.466; (2) There is a significant relationship between student’s critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill based on visual learners at the rate of 0.61; (3) There is a significant relationship between student’s critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill based on auditory learners at the rate of 0.633; (4) There is a significant relationship between student’s critical reading ability and popular-article writing skill based on tactual learners at the rate of 0.52. It can be concluded that critical reading ability, as individually or collectively, have a contribution in student’s popular-article writing skill in class XI SMA Negeri 5 Padang. Abstract

Abstract: This research is aim to describe improving students writing skill through discovery learning methods by using images at Prodi Indonesian an Literature Education academic year 2011/2012 of Ekassakti University Padang. This study is Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research was conducted by the two cycles. Each cycle was done in the different strages of learning. They are : 1. Planning, 2. Action, 3. Observation, 4. Reflection. The instrumentation are : a. Performance test, b. Observation and c. Observation note. The result of this research shows/describe this method by using images in teaching and learning process improve the student writing skill at Eka Sakti University academic year 2011/2012. The students writing skill improve significantly. The students response in apllying discovery method by using images were better as well as the improving their writing skill in descriptive text. Based on the performance test, the students writing skill in descriptive is about 60,27 % in the pre-cycle. After the students were given the action in the first cycle, that skill increased become 72 % and the for second cycle increased become 79%. Key word :writing, description, discovery method, images media, classroom action research.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective Indonesian learning modules model with group based investigation in writing scientific essay which can be used by students of XI IPA 4 at SMA N 8 Padang. This type of research was the development of research with using 4D model of development. Development phase began with defining, designing, and ends with the development. Based on the data analysis and discussion it can be summarized as follows. First, the validity of the Indonesian learning modules model with group based investigation in writing scientific article is considered as valid. Second, the practicalities Indonesian learning modules model with group based investigation in writing scientific article is considered as very valid. Third, the effectiveness of Indonesian learning modules model with group based investigation in writing scientific article is considered as very effective. Thus, modules that have been developed can be used as teaching materials in the Indonesian language learning, especially for writing scientific articles.   Kata kunci: modul pembelajaran; berbasis group investigation; materi karanngan ilmiah.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the following .First , describe the critical reading skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang . Second , describe the argument essay writing skills class students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang VIII . Third , to describe the relationship between critical reading and writing essays arguing eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang . The data of this study are the results of tests conducted on 26 to 28 November 2013 . The first test a number of questions about the objective with 30 items , which according to the indicator . The second test which tests the performance of the argument essay writing test . The data have been collected and analyzed statistically using the product moment formula . The results of the data analysis and discussion of the research results , we can conclude the following three points . First , the critical reading skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang are in good qualifying ( 77.11 ). Second , the argument essay writing skills eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang are in good qualifying ( 80.27 ) . Third , there is a significant correlation ( mean ) between students' critical reading skills and writing skills essay argument eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang at the 95 % significance level with n - 1 degrees of freedom is obtained t_hitung t_tabel = 4.65 and 1.70 in the sense t_hitung t_tabel is greater than 4.65 > 1.70 .

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the terms of the sentence error : (1 ) reasoning , ( 2 ) the structure of the sentence , ( 3 ) diction , and ( 4 ) EYD . The data of this study sentences errors in essay form class VII SMP N 1 Padang Panjang. This research is a descriptive study . The study population class VII SMP N 1 Padang term 2011-2012 . The study population numbered 244 people scattered in seven classes . Given a population of more than 200 students , the sampling technique used is random sampling technique ( random sampling ) , so the population is 50 people . The error rate is calculated based on descriptive statistics . Based on the results of this study concluded that the fault line of reasoning in terms of relatively low ( 9.06 % ) . Sentence structure errors is low ( 11.82 % ) . Diction error is low (13.26 % ) , and EYD error is high ( 65.86 % ) . Kata kunci : kesalahan kalimat bahasa Indonesia.
