Abstract

This study aims to analyze truancy behavior among students at SMAN 9 Enrekang and examine the management efforts implemented by the school to reduce and prevent such behavior. This type of research uses qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques are by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show 1). Leaving the school premises before the end of the lesson without the teacher's knowledge and without a clear reason, truancy behavior is carried out solely because of a lack of motivation to learn, characterized by drowsiness and boredom while studying. 2). Absent from school without explanation, it was found that the trigger for this behavior was waking up late causing delays in entering school so that students no longer wanted to go to school even though they still went to school even though they did not attend class. (3) The impact of truancy in terms of academics can cause failure to move up a class due to low grades, in terms of social aspects, namely pushing the subject into more negative friendships such as committing additional violations, namely smoking in hangouts while truant and playing online games (4) Efforts to handle truancy behavior by providing counseling using the Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach, cognitive reconstruction techniques.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of transactional analysis counseling using the empty chair technique to measure the level of assertiveness of students who are victims of bullying. However, some students who are victims of bullying at SMAN 1 Gunung Talang have low assertive behavior. This quantitative research with an experimental approach uses a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample is students who are victims of bullying with a low level of assertiveness. Measurements were carried out using questionnaire instruments and by conducting individual counseling with two treatment sessions or treatment with individual counseling using the empty chair technique. The research results showed a significant increase in the assertive behavior of students who were victims of bullying, with the average score increasing from 118 in the pretest to 178 in the posttest and a t-count of 0.0285 with a degree of freedom of 2. The t-test value was used to determine each independent variable against the dependent variable. If the t count ˃ t table or the significance value of the t test is 0.05 then it can be concluded that individually the independent variable has a significant effect on the dependent variable, then the explanation obtained is the sig value. (2-failed) = 0.0285 ˂ 0.05 means that this test is significant or that there is a difference in the average assertive behavior before and after carrying out transactional analysis counseling using the empty chair technique. This means that there is a significant difference from transactional analysis counseling using the empty chair technique to increase the assertive behavior of students who are victims of bullying

Abstract

Innovative solutions are needed to address the problem of low motivation to continue studying among vocational high school students. The main contributing factors are an unsupportive environment, a lack of inspirational figures, and insufficient information. This study aims to determine how effective educational films can be in motivating eleventh-grade students at SMK NU 1 Pesanggaran to continue their education. The methodology employed was a pre-experimental design with a single-group pretest-posttest design. Eight out of 27 eleventh-grade students were selected as the research sample through purposive sampling. Student motivation to continue their education was used as the instrument, measured before and after the educational film intervention. Based on the research findings, the majority of students' motivation levels increased after receiving the intervention. Educational films are a useful tool for inspiring students to pursue higher education.

Abstract

Students frequently face persistent academic pressure, which impacts their psychological well-being and academic performance. To address this challenge, various strength-based psychological approaches have been explored, including the enhancement of self-compassion and gratitude. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review to identify and analyze the contributions of self-compassion and gratitude in reducing academic stress among students. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA. Articles were sourced from Google Scholar, PubMed, and Publish or Perish (2015–2024), with inclusion criteria focusing on peer-reviewed journals discussing at least one of the two key variables in the student context. From the search and selection process, 12 articles were analyzed. Findings indicate that self-compassion reduces self-criticism and enhances emotional regulation, while gratitude strengthens psychological resilience and fosters positive perceptions of academic pressure. The study recommends integrating both approaches into strength-based counseling services as a preventive and promotive strategy for managing academic stress.
