Abstract

This research has intended to develop Student Work Sheet for lab activities in XI senior high school of reaction rate subject by green chemistry applied. This research was done on February until June 2012 at JHS 31 Jakarta and Chemistry Department, Mathematics and Natural Science Faculty, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. This research used by Research and Development (R n D) method with qualitative description approach. The method consists by three parts, there are: Preliminary Study is (literature study and observed) Next, Development Phase has for evaluated and revised about trial product w Last, Experiment Phase is for knowing judgment’s student about product . Based on the final testing, it has a conclusion that Student Work Sheet has acceptable for guiding students in lab activities by contained a few of aspects , there are: content, language, presented, and green chemistry concept. Abstract

This study aims to analyse the students’ mental model of students in SMA 42 Jakarta in the implementation of Learning Cycle 8E learning model on salt hydrolysis learning. This research was conducted in first semester of 2016/2017 academic year. There are 36 students of year XI in MIPA 5 was involved in the study. This qualitative research was conducted with the data collection of writing-drawing technique, in-depth interviews, classroom observation, student journal reflective. The Miles and Huberman data analysis was employed with quality standards of data reduction, display data, and verification. Class observation conducted before and after the learning Cycle 8E was implemented for understanding, the characteristics of students and classroom learning environment. The interview technique was conducted to have deep understanding the students’ mental model. The result showed that the students developed understanding on the concept of hydrolysis reaction process and pH of salt solution which were generated categories of understanding, not understanding, and misconception. The three categories are seen from the four stages of the learning Cycle 8E which are explore, elaborate, extend, and explain. students’ understanding and mental model development are influenced by the learning environment and prior knowledge. This model also has developed students’ soft skills of empathy communication, critical thinking and collaboration skills. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of laboratory activities based on 5E model against student’s concept understanding on acid-base material. This research was conducted in senior high school of 76 Jakarta in the even semester. The method of this research was experiment research. The sample of this research taken by purposive sampling technique, so that got two classes that were XI MIA 3 as experiment class and XI MIA 1 as control class. Experimental class was given treatment in the form of laboratory activity based on model 5E (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation), while for control class using laboratory activity without based on 5E model. The instrument used in the research was a post-test question in the form of student's concept comprehension test, consisting of 20 multiple choices question and 3 essays questions. The average of experimental class test result was 65.01 while the average of control class test result was 51.28. Data obtained was analyzed using non-parametric statistics Mann-Whitney test, showed the result that value of Zcount = 1.51 smaller than Ztable/α = 1.64 or Zcount<Ztable. That is, implementation of 5E model based laboratory activity has a positive effect against student’s concept understanding on acid-base material. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of concept-based reasoning through learning strategy Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) to student achievement on the redox subject. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling used purposive sampling technique, which obtained by two classes, one as control class using Guided Inquiry Learning (GIL) and the other as experiment class using Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL). Generated data during the study was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of t-test. The average posttest grade of the control class is 66.91 while in the experimental class is 71.30. The results showed that there was a difference of chemistry learning achievement in control class and experiment class with tcount = 3.0810; ttable = 1.668 (tcount> ttable). The existence of these differences indicates that the application of concept-based reasoning through Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) strategy has a positive effect to students learning achievement on the redox subject. Abstract

This study aims to determine of learning result in Guided Inquiry based SETS for buffer solution. The research conducted was SMA 55 Jakarta carried in 3th of April to 24th of Mar 2017. The study used purposive sampling technique, from three class taken two classes obtained XI MIA A was treated as the experimental group using the Guided Inquiry learning based SETS, obtained class XI MIA B was treated as control group using the Guided Inquiry. The study used post-test group design. Test instruments used essay. Data of test instrument result,analyzed by statistical analysis test is comparison test of both class post-test value. The result is t-count = 1,868 while the t-table value at 5% significance level is 1,669. The concluded that there is influence of student learning result by using guided inquiry based on SETS. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) on student learning outcomes on imbalance equilibrium material and pH of saline solution. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design. Sampling in this research is done by Cluster Random Sampling technique. Each class has the same number of students that is 36 students. The instrument used in this study is a matter of multiple choice posttest amounted to 30 questions. The obtained data then analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, t-test. The average learning outcomes which obtained by students in experimental class is 81.82, while in control class is 77.84. The results showed that there were differences in students' chemical learning outcomes in the experimental class and control class (tcount = 8.65; ttabel = 1.66 so tcount> ttable). Thus, it can be concluded that cooperative learning model of Team Assisted Individualization type positively influences student's chemical learning result on ionic equilibrium material and pH of salt solution due to active student during learning. Abstract

This study aims to produce chemical-based e-Module POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) on the material oxidation-reduction reaction as a viable source of student learning. This research method using research and development or research and development (R & D). Subjects in this study were students of SMK class X. Data analysis techniques using an assessment analysis of 10 validators consisting of 5 material and language experts, as well as 5 media experts. Analysis of expert validation test questionnaires, Student and teacher trials using questionnaires that were adopted from Puskurbuk and issued by BSNP. Applications used in the manufacture of e-Module is 3D PageFlip Professional 1.7.7. The results of the study show that: (1) Assessment of experts as a whole is obtained in the range of 70% to 90% with good to excellent interpretation, (2) Assessment of teachers and students on a small scale and large scale as a whole increases in the range 80% 90% with good to good interpretation. Thus, it can be concluded that the e-Module POGIL material based chemical oxidation-reduction reactions are very well developed and already eligible for use in the learning process and can be used as a source of independent study students. Abstract

This study aims to produce a plastic pyrolysis learning resource in the form of books based on Education for Sustainable Development. The development of ESD-based learning resources is done by Borg & Gall (2006) research and development method which is then adjusted into three stages: needs analysis, development stage, and pilot phase. Learning resources produced by reading books on plastic waste issues and handling through a chemical approach, presented with a magazine display, using communicative language, and adapted to chemistry teaching materials class XI SMA of curriculum 2013. Percentage of test results feasibility by material and Language experts is 89.63%, while the results of feasibility tests by media experts amounted to 92.23%, with each reliability of 0.8 and 0.77. The results of ESD-based learning by small-scaled learners are 85% and large scale is 91.44%. Interpretation of assessments of learning resources by experts and learners as a whole has very good criteria for each assessment indicator. Therefore, it can be concluded that the ESD-based learning source developed has been feasible to be used as a reading book to support chemistry learning. Abstract

This study aims to validate the feasibility of chemistry lab kit made from simple materials on the concept of chemical compounds polarity for high school students in remote areas. Educational research and development model includes needs assessment, product design, expert validity test and limited scale test used in this research. The research instrument used in the form of a questionnaire aimed to test the validity of experts analyzed using Likert scale. A limited scale test conducted on 20 students of 10th grade SMA Negeri 1 Pamarayan Serang to find out the feasibility and practical aspects of the tool. Respondents' opinion on the products obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis by making the percentage scale of each statement on the questionnaire. The results showed the profile of the chemistry lab kit of chemical compounds polarity made of wood, plastic bottles and magnets with a total mass of ± 0.8 Kg. Based on the results of assessment analysis and validation of experts in the field of education obtained an average assessment of feasibility aspects of 77.50% included in good category. Analysis of the students' assessment of the practicality of the lab kit obtained an average value of 86.6% which is included in the category of very good. While the results of student responses in some aspects of the lab kit in the learning proccess obtained average value of 76.1% in the category good. The lab kit also facilitate students to understand the test of compounds polarity based on the ability to answer questions which obtained average score of 85.55 in the category of excellent. Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of Project Based Learning on creative thinking skills of student on colloid concept. The method used in this study was quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was second semester students of SMAN 5 in Bekasi of Academic Years 2014/2015. Samples are class XI MIA-4 as the experimental class (given treatment by project-based learning model), and class MIA XI-2 as the control class (given treatment by lecture method). Data collection techniques were gained through an essay test instrument. Data value of the average pretest-posttest control group and experimental group were analyzed using t-test. The average of pretest score for control class is 19.89 and experiment class is 18.11, while the average of postest score of control class is 24.5 and experimental class is 29.35. The t-test result showed that tcount (7.35) was greater than ttable (2.0049) with significance level 5%, so the research hypothesis which states that there are significant influence of project-based learning to the creative thinking skills of students on colloid concept are accepted. In order to obtain the greatest number of information about creative thinking skills, when implemented project based learning must consider several things, that are: time management, formulation of the problem, step of project work, and assessment systems should be informed to the students in a clear and focused so that students can understand and have a passion in running the project.
