Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman siswa pada materi persamaan kimia dan stoikiometri serta hubungannya dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung pada kelas X sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes diagnostik pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Hasil tes diagnostik pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi persamaan kimia menunjukan bahwa hampir separuhnya siswa termasuk pada tingkat paham konsep dan pada materi stoikiometri sebagian kecil siswa termasuk pada tingkat paham konsep. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan (r = 0,759; p < 0,005) antara pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah serta menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan (r = 0,189; p > 0,005) antara pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan penyelesian soal algoritmik tradisional pada materi stoikiometri. Kata Kunci: pemahaman konsep, diagram submikroskopik, kemampaun pemecahan masalah, persamaaan kimia dan stoikiometri.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of Project-Based Learning (PjBL)- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on Students' Creative Thinking Skills. The research method was quasi-experiment using a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique from two of 11th-grade science classes as an experimental and a control groups. This study used a test instrument of creative thinking skills. Research data were analyzed using SPSS and Microsoft Excel software. Hypothetical test results were assessed using independent sample t-test, obtained sig value (2-tailed) = 0.01 indicating sig value < 0.05. According to statistical analysis, there is a significant difference between the control class and the experiment class. The n-gain value was obtained with a score of 0.59 (a medium category). This result shows that the application of PJBL-STEM can improve students' creative thinking skills in the static fluid topic (Pascal law).

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to increase students' motivation through cooperative learning model type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) on the redox material. The method used is classroom action research with two cycles. Samples were 10 grade students of SMAN 5 Tangerang City. Data collection techniques gained through an essay test instruments and motivation questionnaire. Data were analyzed student motivation questionnaire average value in the description and essay tests were analyzed by calculating the value of N-Gain (%). The results showed that: (1) the average value of students' motivation to learn chemistry after participating TGT cooperative learning both in the first cycle and the second cycle were increased, 73.53 (medium category) and 79.44 (high category) respectively. (2) The percentage of the average value of the N-Gain (%) in the first cycle is at 69.53 (medium category). While on the second cycle percentage of the average value of the N-Gain (%) amounted to 79.72 (high category). (3) The percentage of students who achieve the minimum criteria of mastery learning (KKM )in the first cycle of 65.79% and the second cycle of 78.95%. This shows that the cooperative learning model type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) can increase learning motivation and mastery of the concept dvof redox chemistry students. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament (TGT) pada materi redoks. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan 2 siklus. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 5 Kota Tangerang Selatan. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui instrumen tes esai dan angket motivasi. Data hasil angket motivasi siswa dianalisis nilai rata-ratanya secara deskripsi dan tes esai dianalisis dengan cara menghitung nilai N-Gain (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar kimia siswa dengan menggunakan model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) mengalami peningkatan baik pada siklus I maupun pada siklus II. Nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa pada siklus I adalah sebesar 73,53 (kategori sedang) sedangkan pada siklus II sebesar 79,44 (kategori tinggi). (2) Persentase nilai rata-rata N-Gain (%) pada siklus I adalah sebesar 69,53 (kategori sedang), sedangkan pada siklus II persentase nilai rata-rata N-Gain (%) adalah sebesar 79,72 (kategori tinggi). (3) Persentase jumlah siswa yang mencapai nilai Kriteria Kelulusan Minimal (KKM) pada siklus I sebesar 65,79% dan pada siklus II sebesar 78,95%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament (TGT) dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep redoks kimia siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to validate the feasibility of chemistry lab kit made from simple materials on the concept of chemical compounds polarity for high school students in remote areas. Educational research and development model includes needs assessment, product design, expert validity test and limited scale test used in this research. The research instrument used in the form of a questionnaire aimed to test the validity of experts analyzed using Likert scale. A limited scale test conducted on 20 students of 10th grade SMA Negeri 1 Pamarayan Serang to find out the feasibility and practical aspects of the tool. Respondents' opinion on the products obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis by making the percentage scale of each statement on the questionnaire. The results showed the profile of the chemistry lab kit of chemical compounds polarity made of wood, plastic bottles and magnets with a total mass of ± 0.8 Kg. Based on the results of assessment analysis and validation of experts in the field of education obtained an average assessment of feasibility aspects of 77.50% included in good category. Analysis of the students' assessment of the practicality of the lab kit obtained an average value of 86.6% which is included in the category of very good. While the results of student responses in some aspects of the lab kit in the learning proccess obtained average value of 76.1% in the category good. The lab kit also facilitate students to understand the test of compounds polarity based on the ability to answer questions which obtained average score of 85.55 in the category of excellent. Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyakat ini secara umum bertujuan untuk membangun kualitas bangsa dan masyarakat dalam masa pandemi Covid-19 dengan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat akan bahaya covid 19 dan cara pencegahanya serta menggalakan hidup produktif dimasa pandemi. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, beberapa program kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat telah dilakukan melalui kegiatan kuliah kerja mahasiswa (KKM) tematik Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa di Desa Jatake secara daring dan luring. Program kegiatan tersebut diantaranya mencakup edukasi tentang pola hidup bersih dan sehat, pelatihan cara meningkatkan saturasi oksigen, pembuatan tanaman hias, webinar tentang vaksinasi dan ketahanan pangan, edukasi literasi media, dan kegiatan pendukung lainnya. Berdasarkan data hasil angket tanggapan masyarakat, respon warga masyarakat terhadap program kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah positif dan terfasilitasi dengan adanya kegiatan edukasi untuk menjalankan protocol kesehatan dan membiasakan hidup produktif ditengah pandemi.

Abstract

Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) merupakan pendekatan yang dapat digunakan untuk menstimulus cara berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran sains, terutama pembelajaran kimia. Pendekatan ini dapat diintegrasikan dalam Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) untuk melatih siswa berfikir kritis dan mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tanggapan guru kimia dan siswa kelas XII Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) terhadap analisis kebutuhan pengembangan LKPD Berbasis Socio Scientific Issues pada materi Asam Basa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa metode survei dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian angket atau kuisioner. Instrumen penelitian ini diisi melalui google form yang terdiri dari beberapa pertanyaan atau pernyataaan tertulis yang harus dijawab oleh responden. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah guru kimia dan siswa kelas XII SMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar guru dan siswa belum mengenal mengenai pendekatan socio-scientific issue dalam pembelajaran kimia. Namun sebagian besar guru dan siswa setuju terhadap dikembangkannya LKPD pada materi Asam Basa yang mendukung untuk menstimulus keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pembelajaran kimia yang bermakna

Abstract

This paper presents the outcomes of a research experiment on the drying process of seaweed. There are numerous approaches to clustering data, such as partitioning and the Hierarchical Clustering Algorithm (HCA). The HCA has been implemented in binary tree structures to visualize data clustering. We conducted a comparative analysis of the four primary methodologies utilized in HCA, namely: 1) single linkage, 2) complete linkage, 3) average linkage, and 4) Ward's linkage. Clustering validation is widely recognized as a crucial issue that significantly impacts the effectiveness of clustering algorithms. Clustering validation can be identified, such as internal and external validation. Internal clustering validation, in particular, holds significant importance in the realm of data science. With this article, the main goal is to do an empirical evaluation of the traits that a representative set of internal clustering validation indices, namely Connectivity, Dunn, and Silhouette, show. In this paper, the HCA applies two distance functions between Euclidean and Manhattan distances to analyze the entanglement function and internal validity.

Abstract

The use of litmus paper seems wastefull and less environmentally friendly because it is only used once. For schlools that have difficulty getting litmus paper it can be a practicum obstacle to determine the acidity of the sample. In order to anticipate this problem, indicator paper was made using extracts of the telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) and the kencana ungu flower (Ruellia simplex) plant extracts. The purpose of the study was to observe the color changes that occurred in acid-base paper indicator namely KENDI BELANG (Kertas Indikator Bunga Telang) and KENDI BUKACU (Kertas Indikator Bunga Kencana Ungu) samples for a certain period of time. Other physical changes such as color, odor, flexibility and paper fibers were also observed. The research used an experimental method for 30 days. Research using experimental method for 30 days. The telang flowers and the kencana ungu are obtained from the environment around the house and then extracted. Whatman filter paper was macerated in plant extracts of telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) and purple golden flower (Ruellia simplex), with the addition of aquades and 70% alcohol as solvent. KENDI BELANG using 70% alcohol solvent produces the best quality indicator paper, because there is no change in color and other physical changes during observation. While less optimal result was found on KENDI BUKACU using distilled water, because the indicator paper produces an unpleasant odor, slightly stiff, and there was a color gradations in some samples of acids and bases.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a simple and low-cost chemical experiment kits to facilitate students in the school which has limited chemistry laboratory facilities. The topic of the experiment was the concepts of gas laws. The research was conducted in a private school in a rural area of Banten, Indonesia using educational research and development method. 10th-grade high school students (n=27) participated in this study. The research result indicated that the experiment kits facilitate the teacher to explain the chemical concepts of gas laws. Learning using the gas laws experiment kits also had positive responses from students. The results showed that the kits were eligible to be applied in the high school chemistry learning.
