Abstract

Each university collects many undergraduate theses data but has yet to process it to make it easier forstudents to find references as desired. This study aims to classify and compare the grouping ofdocuments using expert and simple clustering methods. Experts have done ground truth using ORBoolean Retrieval and keyword generation. The best cluster was discovered by the experiments usingthe K-Means, K-Medoids, and DBSCAN clustering methods and using Euclidean, Manhattan, CityBlock, and Cosine Similarity metrics. The cluster with the best Silhouette Score compared to theaccuracy of the categorization of each document. The K-Means clustering method and the CosineSimilarity metric gave the best results with a Silhouette Score value of 0.105534. The comparisonbetween ground truth and the best cluster results shows an accuracy of 33.42%. The result shows thatthe simple clustering method cannot handle data with Negative Skewness and Leptokurtic Kurtosis.

Abstract

The scheduling of parallel machines with and without a job-splitting property, deterministic demand, and sequence-independent setup time with the goal of minimizing makespan is examined in this work. For simultaneous processing by multiple machines, single-stage splitable jobs are broken into random(job) sections. When a job starts to be processed on a machine, an operator has to setup the machinefor an hour. By creating two Mixed Integer Linear Programming models, this work proposes amathematical programming strategy (MILP). A MILP model takes the job-splitting property intoaccount. Another model, however, does not include the job-splitting property. This study investigatesthe performance of the proposed models using Gurobi solver. These programs' numerical calculationsare based on actual problems in the Indonesian city of Bandung's plastics industry. On four identicalparallel injection molding machines, 318 jobs must be finished in 22 periods. The real schedulingmethod is contrasted with these two MILP models. The maximum workload imbalance, the maximumrelative percentage of imbalance, and the makespan of these three scheduling systems are used toevaluate their effectiveness. Without the job-splitting property, MILP can handle the real issue ofscheduling identical parallel machines on injection molding machines to reduce makespan, resultingin a 36% average decrease. The MILP model's job-splitting property can reduce makespan by anadditional 2.40%. The order of relative ranking is MILP with job-splitting property, MILP withoutjob-splitting property, and actual scheduling based on the makespan minimization, workloadimbalance, and relative percentage of imbalance.

Abstract

In this research, the working hours and posture of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machineoperators were investigated to determine the physical workload that they experienced during theirdaily work. Based on our observations, the operator works 8-hour regular shifts or 12-hour longshifts for 5 – 6 days a week. During these shifts, the operators work in front of the CNC machinewhile standing upright without any tools to rest. Preliminary research was conducted to evaluatethese conditions the results show 13 out of 20 CNC machine operators complained about physicalfatigue while working the CNC machines. It can also be concluded that the operators areexperiencing excessive workload based on a workload assessment using the Quick Exposure Check(QEC) method. To solve this problem, a standing chair is designed with ergonomics in mind. Thedimensions of the standing chair are based on the anthropometry of the CNC machine operators, which was never used before. The design process is conducted using the Theory of InventiveProblem Solving (TRIZ) methodology. Need statements from the CNC machine operators anddesign requirements from the stakeholders are converted into design specifications using TRIZmethodology. Parameters are determined to increase the capability of the existing design based onthe design specifications. The result of this research is a standing chair that is suitable for theoperator’s needs. Based on the analysis of the design result and the stress analysis simulation, it canbe concluded a functional standing chair can be ergonomically designed with the TRIZmethodology.

Abstract

Briquettes are solids that are produced through the process of compression and pressure applicationand if burned will produce a small amount of smoke. Briquette production is carried out using ahammer mill where the raw material for briquettes is charcoal which is then crushed into charcoalgranules. The packaging process is still done manually using a shovel to fill the 50kg sack and thentake it to the sewing machine. The worker's posture when using a shovel has a Rapid Entire BodyAssessment (REBA) score of 12 so it has a high work risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) andrequires immediate improvement. The working environment at the company produces pollutants, meaning that there is no capture container for the fall of charcoal grains from the hammer mill. Basedon the existing problems, a redesign of the existing machine is needed. The proposed machine wasdesigned using the Reverse Engineering method because the existing condition already uses themachine then the existing machine is decomposed to find out the components and functions of theexisting machine to find alternative concepts. The ergonomic approach uses REBA and LBA todetermine changes in worker posture and the forces acting in the human spine. The DEM approachwas chosen to find out if the charcoal grains dropped from the hammer mill were successfully capturedand to find out the flow of the charcoal grains. The results of the proposed machine design have agood impact on workers in the packaging process.

Abstract

PT XYZ plans to produce coconut shell briquettes. Currently, PT XYZ already has a hammer millmachine that will be used in the production process. A hammer mill machine is a machine that servesto smooth the material. Before carrying out mass production, a simulation is carried out first. Themanufacture of briquettes found obstacles in the process of grinding and screening. Coconut shellcharcoal that has been milled and entered is partially retained and cannot be released to proceed to thenext process. The grinding result is larger than the screen size, which is 1 to 2 mm. In the manufactureof briquettes, it is expected that the grinding results are less or equal to 0.4 mm. Based on theidentification of the problem, the alternative solution chosen by the researcher is to redesign thehammer mill machine, especially on the blade and screen sections. The design is done using thereverse engineering method. There are five steps in designing using this method. In the study, it wasfound that the second design was a suitable design to be developed because it was better than theexisting state. The mill results were obtained with an average of 0.0343 mm and a grinding time of186.807 seconds. The fineness values and the grinding process time were obtained throughsimulations using the EDEM 2022.1 software.

Abstract

The advent of Industry 4.0 has become an integral part of the manufacturing industry, playing a crucialrole in boosting competitiveness and enhancing productivity within companies. Small and MediumEnterprises (SMEs), which contribute significantly to the national economy, must inevitably embracethe adoption of Industry 4.0 technology. However, the implementation of this technology at the SMEfaces numerous obstacles. To address these challenges and facilitate the transformation to Industry4.0 in SMEs, this research aims to construct a comprehensive adoption strategy. Currently in itspreliminary stage, the strategy development process primarily involves identifying stakeholders, theirneeds, and the goals they aim to achieve. Design thinking, specifically the empathize and define phase,is employed as the methodological approach. The information utilized in this study originates fromsystematic literature reviews conducted using PRISMA. The analysis of the gathered data hasidentified several stakeholders, including government entities, IT experts, management personnel, andemployees. However, for the purpose of creating user personas, the focus is narrowed down tomanagement and employees. User personas are instrumental in understanding the goals and potentialobstacles faced by these individuals. The culmination of this stage is the formulation of a problemstatement, which will be further refined in subsequent phases of the design thinking process.

Abstract

This research aims to improve energy sustainability in transportation management. The case wasderived from port-to-port coal transportation problem commonly faced by third-party logistic (3PL)company. During planning, they must determine which shipsets to be used and assign them to theloading/unloading berths. Each berth varies in terms of its loading/unloading speed and each shipsetvaries in terms of its capacity, sail speed, and fuel consumption rate. The selection of shipset impactsthe auxiliary and main engine fuel consumption while the selection of berth impacts only the auxiliaryengine fuel consumption. The target is to minimize the total fuel consumed by both engines for thewhole shipset. We modelled the case through Multiple Vehicle Allocation Problem (MVAP)framework and proposed a heuristic algorithm to find the solutions. The heuristic algorithm is provento be able to reach an optimal solution for small cases and near-optimal for medium to large cases.
