Abstract

Lapisan endotelium terdiri dari satu lapisan sel endotel yang melapisi dinding vaskular yang menghadap ke lumen. Sel endotel menghasilkan mediator vasoaktif Endothelium Derived Relaxing Factor (EDRF) yaitu nitrogen monoksida (NO). Disfungsi sel endotel ditunjukkan dengan rendahnya kadar NO dan dapat menyebabkan hipertensi. Pada penelitian ini diteliti disfungsi sel endotel pada mencit putih jantan. Disfungsi sel endotel diinduksi dengan pemberian NaCl 2 %. Ekstrak buah mengkudu yang digunakan sudah memenuhi persyaratan Farmakope Herbal. Ekstrak buah mengkudu diberikan dengan dosis 70 mg/ kg BB, 140 mg kg BB, dan 280 mg/kg BB secara oral selama 21 hari bersamaan dengan NaCl.  Para meter yang diamati  adalah  kadar  NO dalam serum. Hasil penelitian menunjukan  bahwa pemberian ekstrak etanol buah mengkudu terbukti dapat memproteksi disfungsi sel endotel diinduksi NaCl 2%, ditandai dengan meningkatkan kadar nitrogen monoksida mencit putih jantan dibandingkan kadar NO mencit kontrol positif berbeda nyata p < 0,05.

Abstract

Effect of drying method in gaining of extractive, phenolic content and antioxidant activity from Phyllanthus niruri (Linn.) leaves have been investigated by UV-Visible spectrofotometric. The drying method tested were air-drying, microwave drying and oven drying at 400C. The determination of phenolics compounds was carried out accourding to Folin Ciocalteau method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH as oxidant and gallic acid as reference. The determination of extractive compounds showed that the air-drying, microwave drying and oven drying at 40 0C countained 17.54 %; 11.84 %; 14.22 % with the water content 8.2%; 6.6%; 6.7%. The phenolic compounds 2,63900 %; 2,24585 %; 2,28095 %. Then IC50 of the sample were 0.49 mg/mL, 0.51 mg/mL, 0.53 mg/mL respectively.

Abstract

The effect of the pumkin juice Cucurbita moschata (Duch.) Poir. on the ulcer of white female rat  induced by absolut ethanol was investigated using oral method. With The reseveral doses 0.4 ; 0.8 ; and 1.6 ml/200 g body weight doses. The result showed that the juice with 0,4, 0,8, and 1,6 ml/200 g body weight dose were able to cure the ulcer with curative ratio for each rasio dose are 22.22 %, 52.89 % and 71.04 %. It’s shows that higher dose give better result. The juice can also significantly decrease the gastric pH of rat induced by ethanol absolut to it’s normal value (P<0,05).

Abstract

Effects of drying methods in gaining of extracted material, phenolic content, and antioxidant activity in Psidii folium leaves have been investigated. The drying methods tested were air-drying, microwave oven-drying, and oven-drying at 60ºC. The determination of extracted material compound showed that the air-drying, microwave oven-drying, and oven-drying at 60ºC contained 184,767; 333,767; and 208,533 mg/g, phenolic of these sample were  46,0474; 53,8402; and 51,4532 mg/g, and IC50 of these sample were 0,529; 0,477; and 0,505 mg/mL. Among the drying methods tested, the highest extracted material, phenolic concentration, and antioxidant activity were by microwave oven-drying.

Abstract

The research of immunomodulatory effect  from the  mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves ethanol extract with a carbon clearance method and the counting of leukocytes cell amount in male white mice. Has been done the ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves is given to every mouse during six days with a 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose. In the seventh day, it has been decided a phagocyte index and the percentage amount of neutrophils, eusinofil, basophile, monocytes and lymphocytes. The result of the research is showing a given ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves at the 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose, it can increase a phagocytes index that is >1and  increase the amount of leukocytes cell that the extract has a characteristic of immunostimulatory.

Abstract

Microencapsulation of Carbamazepine using HPMC as a polymer by emulsification solvent evaporation method had been studied. Microcapsules had been made into 3 formulation with 3 ratio variation between Carbamazepine and HPMC, 1:1; 1:1.5; 1:2. Microcapsules were evaluated by SEM, DTA, FT-IR, particle sized distribution, drug content and dissolution profile. The evaluation result showed that HPMC as a polymer of sustained release was influence characteristic microcapsules of Carbamazepine. Microcapsules were white to slightly yellow and almost perfectly spherical. Disolution profiles of microcapsules showed that the formula containing the greatest amount of HPMC gave the slower release of Carbamazepine. Resistance release of biggest drug shown by formula 3 giving disolution during 6 hour counted 24.5296 %. Dissolution kinetics of microcapsules allowed Higuchi equation, where the realese of Carbamazepine  from microcapsules were controlled by diffution process.

Abstract

Analysis of the synthetic sweetener sodium saccharin and sodium cyclamate in tea packaging has been done. The content of synthetic sweeteners are identified by color reactions and test microcrystals. The results obtained were compared with the reference standard material. Of the four samples tested, obtained three samples containing sodium cyclamate, while the other samples did not contain sodium cyclamate and sodium saccharin. Levels are determined by sodium cyclamate spektrofoto, ether UV-Vis. Levels of sodium cyclamate were obtained not exceed the maximum limit allowed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia is 0.3% for soft drinks.

Abstract

Daun sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens (Lour) Merr) adalah salah satu bahan pengobatan alternatif dari alam yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri karena mengandung komponen bioaktif berupa alkaloid, flavonoid dan saponin. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menguji aktivitas antibakteri fraksi dari ekstrak daun sambung nyawa dan bakteri yang digunakan adalah Shigella dysenteriae. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode difusi kertas cakram. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan 3 fraksi yaitu fraksi heksan, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi butanol dengan variasi konsentrasi 30 %, 20 % dan 10 % serta kontrol negatifnya adalah DMSO dan kontrol positif adalah kloramfenikol. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah adalah dari 3 fraksi yang diuji, fraksi paling aktif sebagai antibakteri adalah fraksi etil asetat dengan konsentrasi 30 % yang memberikan daya hambat sebesar 10,5 mm. Sedangkan fraksi heksan dan fraksi butanol dengan konsentrasi 30 % hanya memberikan daya hambat 7 mm.

Abstract

Research on the effect of ethanol extract of leaf dragon scales (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) against clotting time, bleeding time and the number of platelet cells in mice white male. The parameters observed owere the bleeding time, clotting time of blood by the method of the slide and the number of platelet cells by direct calculation method. Animal experiment was divided into 5 groups: negative control group, the dose of 100 mg/kg BW, a dose of 200 mg / kg BW, a dose of 400 mg/kg BW, and by comparison of vitamin K at a dose of 0,026 mg / kg orally. Effects were observed on day 7, 14 and 21. The study showed that ethanol extract leaf dragon scales (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) can shorten the bleeding time, shorten the clotting time of blood and increase the number of cells platelet white male mice. A dose of 400 mg/kg BW has been giving maximum effect in shorten bleeding time, shorten the clotting time of blood and can increase the number of platelet cells in mice white male.
