Abstract

The fatty acid content analysis of avocados pulp taken from Batusangkar (Sumatra Barat) area had researched. Avocado were  divided into 2 groups, that are group A : broaded in 3 days, group B : broaded in 5 days. Group A produced 149.274 g oils, whereas group B produced 169.598 g oils, analysis of avocado oil of group A by GC-MS showed the avocado oil components, namely acid miristat (2.44%), acid behenat (2.22%) and acid isopalmitat (10.97%), whereas the avocado oil components of group B are acid nonanoat (1.20%), acid miristat (2.80%), acid behenat (2.23%), acid palmitoleainat (7.91%), acid oleat (10.95%), acid oleat (28.69%), acid isopalmitat (4.77%).

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian penetapan kadar β-karoten pada daun bayam merah (Amaranthus hybridus L.) dengan dua jenis perlakuan yaitu segar dan rebus. Sampel diekstraksi cair-cair menggunakan pelarut petroleum eter dan aseton dengan perbandingan 1 : 4, kemudian ekstrak daun bayam merah (Amaranthus hybridus L.), diidentifikasi dengan kromatografi lapis tipis dengan fase diam silika gel 60 F254, di dapat nilai rata-rata Rf  pembanding dansampel 0,56  yang berarti ekstrak daun bayam merah mengandung β-karoten. Ekstrak daun bayam merah (Amaranthus hybridus L.) diukur secara kuntitatif dengan spektrofotometer visibel pada panjang gelombang maksimum 451 nm. Hasil menunjukan bahwa kadar β-karoten rata-rata pada daun bayam merah segar adalah 14,6 ± 0,00575 mg/kg, dan untuk daun bayam merah yang direbus 8,50 ± 0,001703 mg/kg. Validasi metode analisis untuk nilai akurasi diperoleh rata-rata persen perolehan kembali untuk daun bayam merah segar dan rebus yaitu 91,40 % dan 90,45 %. Presisi intraday dan interday dari konsentrasi 4, 10 dan 14 ppm diperoleh rata-rata persen SBR ≤16 %, linearitas dengan koefisien korelasi yaitu 0,9995, batas deteksi yaitu 0,15153 ppm dan batas kuantitasi yaitu 0,50512 ppm. Validasi metode analisis menunjukan bahwa metode ini memenuhi persyaratan parameter validasi. Analisis statistik dengan uji t dua sampel berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa sig 0,000 (P<0,05) dan ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kadar rata-rata β-karoten pada daun bayam  merah segar dan daun bayam merah rebus.

Abstract

Effect of extract of bitter herbs (Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f.) Ness) has conducted research on the levels of NO in hypercholesterolemic male white mice. Hypercholesterolemia was induced by high-fat foods and propylthiouracil. Bitter herbs extract was administered orally every day for 60 days with a dose of 25 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB, and 100 mg/kg BB. The negative control group was only given regular meals and a positive control group was given a high-fat foods and propylthiouracil. Parameters measured were the levels of NO in serum. The results showed that the extract of bitter herbs can increase blood levels of NO white male mice when compared to the positive control (hypercholesterolemia), but still lower than the negative control (normal animals) (P<0.05). While the old factor does not affect the administration of organ weight ratio of the heart, liver and kidneys and significantly (P>0.05).

Abstract

The research about stimulant activity of the central nervous system from the ethanol extract of cacao leaves ( Theobroma cacao L.) to mice ( Mus musculus ) has been done. The observation of stimulant activity from the other doses gives to experiment of animal with oral. It does with rota – road tools, the motoric of activity test, automatichole board tools and the times of inductive sleep and the long time sleep by mice with 50 mg/Kg BB i.p doses. The finalty reseach knows that ethanol extract of cacao leaves with 250 and 500 mg/Kg BB doses characteristic stimulant. It looks that mount the power of venture, activity motoric, feel knows, the time of inductive sleep and the short time with experiment of animal if it compare with control group.

Abstract

The effect of gambir Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb on pH and gastric ulcers in male rats induced by 1 mL/200 gram body weight by oral admistration. The parameter taken to asses antiulcer activity were change of gastric acid pH and ulcer index to normal condition. The result indicate that the gambir Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb at doses of 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg/Kg BB body weight significantly decreases the ulcer index with curative ratio were 51.93 %, 55.98 % and 63.90 % (Gambir of two days) and 68.43 %, 77.69 % and 82.61 % (Gambir of four days) with respect to control group. The gambir at 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg/Kg BB body weight also significanthy decrease the gastric acid pH to its normal value (P<0.05).

Abstract

A Research has been done about preparing calcium carbonat from limestone of Bukit Tui Kota Padang Panjang. The sample as much as 20 g was dissolved in HCl 6 M, the resulting filtrate  reacted with NH4OH 6 M to the pH of 8 and reacted with (NH4)2CO3 6 M until no more precipitate was  was formed. The precipitate was separated and dried in oven for 4 hours at 105º C. Ten g of the dried precipitate was determined complexometrically using EDTA as complexson and murexide as indicator. It was found that the limestone at Bukit Tui Kota Padang Panjang contained 67.2 % w/w calcium carbonate in comparison to reference compound 103.99 % w/w.

Abstract

The research on preparation and characterization of dried leaves extract of simplicia jati belanda (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.) has been done. The dry extract is made by adding various ratio of lactose, which is the ratio of the extract and drying with lactose 1x viscous extract, 1½ x  viscous extract and extract thick 2x viscous extract. Levels of water soluble compounds the highest value on the dry extract 1:2 was 22.6% ± 0.3434%, while the levels of ethanol soluble compounds the highest value on the dry extract 1:1 was 6.6406% ± 0.2785%, and the highest value content of flavonoids in the dry extract was 1:1 was 1.0047% ± 0.0031%.

Abstract

Levels Determination of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity assay of eggplant belanda fruit (Cyphomandra betacea (Cav.) Sendtn) with  visible spektofotometri has  been done. Determination of phenolic compounds performed by the method of Folin ciocalteu, while DPPH is used as an antioxidant. The antioxidant activity is determined by its IC50 value. In this treatment gallic acid used as a comparison. The results showed that the levels of phenolic compounds from the sample extract solution is 0.288845 mg / g; 0.29678 mg / g and 0.28964 mg / g respectively. The antioxidant activity determined by IC50 values, where the value of its IC50 was 240.0811 µg / mL; 204.5010 µg / mL; 196.8531 µg / mL.

Abstract

The formulation of leaf´s murbey ethanol extract´s toothpaste and its activities against dental plaque´s bacteries had been done. Pre test showed the leaf´s murbey ethanol extracts at 4% of concentration gave an optimal diameter of inhibition against dental plague. Based that fact, this research would have made 3 formulas at toothpaste from leaf´s murbey extract at 1%, 2%, and 4% of concentration. All of formulas would have wade with the same base of toothpaste. All of formulas would be characterized of pharmaceutic´s properties and antibacteria´s activities, that would be compared with toothpaste “S” and “P” as a standard. The result shawed all formulas gave a good characteristic of pharmaceutic properties. F3 had gave a good diameter of inhibition, that was 21.875 mm, where as the “S” and “P” of toothpaste had gave a diameter of inhibition respectively 23.875 mm and 22.75mm. There was a significant difference of inhibition´s diameter of all formulas at 0.05 level of confidence.

Abstract

Griseofulvin cream formulation and it’s penetration test using Franzs difusion cell has been done. This cream formulation was using two different types of base cream, such as water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base cream type. The vertical type cells of Franz difusion cells, was used for the penetration test and it’s quantity determination was done by using spectrophotometry methods. The result  showed,  that griseofulvin cream with water/oil (w/o) base has the highest of the griseofulvin penetration quantity. The griseofulvin penetration quantity and it’s capacity of penetrating toward water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base are 7,447  µg/mL and 18,54%, then  5,724 µg/mL and 14,39% respectively for 90 minutes periods time. It showed that the cream type can influence the griseofulvin penetration from it’s base. From both cream types, water/oil (w/o) type gives better penetration than oil/water (o/w) cream.
