Abstract

Effects of polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 on dissolution characteristics of solid dispersion systems have been studied. Solid dispersions were prepared by solvent method using several ratios of ketoprofen-polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 as follows 1:9, 3:7, 5:5, 7:3, 9:1. Physical mixtures of ketoprofen-polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 were used as a comparison. The solid dispersion systems and physical mixtures were evaluated for physicochemical properties and dissolution characteristics. Dissolution tests were measure with modified basket method using pH 7.2 phosphate buffer as dissolution medium. Samples were taken up after 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Results generally showed that solid dispersion system of ketoprofenpolyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 have a different physicochemical properties compared to physical mixtures and pure ketoprofen and exhibited better dissolution rate and dissolution efficiency of ketoprofen. Dissolution efficiency and dissolution rate constant of the solid dispersion system were 59.41%, and 1.66 mg/s, respectively.

Abstract

The research has been about effect of ethanol extract of breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altillis (Parkinson ex F.A. Zorn) Forsberg) to cholesterol levels in white male mice. Mice used 45 individuals were divided into 5 groups of animal that group I as a negative control group was given only the standard diet food. Group II is the positive control induced hight-fat foods and suspension PTU. Group III, IV and V are given foods containing high fat and suspension PTU with extract variations along with dose of 100, 300, and 900 mg/kg body weight once a day for 7,14 and 21. Then LDL levels measured on day 7, 14, and 21. The results of resarch showed that there are variations influence the dose and duration of administration of the decreased levels of blood LDL white male mice. The highest levels decrease at a dose of 900 mg/kg for 21 day.

Abstract

A research of some sachet energy drinks on the market on the activity of the central nervous system stimulant for white mice (Mus musculus, L.) has been done. The samples labelled Minuman Energi Sachet MES 1, MES 2, MES 3, MES 4 and MES 5 and administered perorally. Parameters used for stimulant activity were endurance tested using Rotary road, while  motoric activity and curiosity tested using Automatic Hole Board. Each sample has administration volume of 0.52 ml/20 g BW. Comparator ued is caffeine 0.13 mg/ 20 g BW. From the research that has been done, it is known that MES 1, MES 2, MES 3, MES 4 and MES 5 has a central nervous system stimulant activity by increasing endurance, motoric activity and curiosity in mice significantly.

Abstract

A study about production and characterization of dried guava leaf extract with the addition of lactose as drying agents has been performed. Dried extract characterization result are: powder, brown color, characteristic odor and taste like plant and somewhat bitter taste. Dry extract was made by adding lactose in ratio of extracts:lactose 2:1; 1:1, and 2 : 3 and the best extract was in ratio 2:1. Levels of water-solube compound the extract 2:1 was 83.90% ± 1.49%, levels of ethanol. Soluble compounds 13.01% ± 0.11%, total flavonoid content of 1.17% ± 0.01%,  loss on drying 1.52% ± 0.07%, apparent specific gravity 0.60 g/mL and specific gravity of incompressible 0.78 g/mL, total ash content of 1.174% ± 0.006% and acid insoluble ash content of 0.946% ± 0.036%.

Abstract

The studies about formulating toothpaste of crude bromelain from steams of pineapple (Ananas comusus L. Merr Var Queen) as cleaner of teeth have been done. Concentration of crude bromelain were used 3 %, 5 %, and 7 % respectly. The parameter evaluated conclude organoleptic observation, homogenity, pH, particle size distribution, spread test, foam test, preference test with panelist, and affectivity test with O.H.I.S (Oral Hygiene Index Simplified) Methods. The result showed that toothpaste Fl [3 %] has given best result based on physic evaluated and preferences test of panelist. The affectivity test as cleaner of teeth with O.H.I.S (Oral Hygiene Index Simplified) methods has given by toothpaste F3 [7 %].

Abstract

Has done research the effect of extracts of carrot (Daucus carota Linn.) Against atherosclerosis in male quail (Cortunix-cortunix japonica). Atherosclerosis induced by administering Prophylthiouracyl (PTU) and high-fat foods (MLT). Carrot extract dose given on quail is 50 mg / kg BW, 100 mg / kg BW and 200 mg / Kg BW on quail males given orally for 60 Days. The results showed that the administration of carrot extract at a dose of 100 mg / kg BW and 200 mg / kg BW can prevent the formation of atherosclerosis in male quail, marked on the wall thickness of the aorta, the aortic lumen and extensive damage to endothelial cells was not different from the negative control (P < 0.05). Carrot extract dose of 50 mg / kg BW for 60 days can not be pried prevent its established atherosclerosis, characterized in aortic wall thickness, area of the aortic lumen and endothelial cell damage is not different from the positive control (P> 0.05).

Abstract

Study about comparative influence of ethanol – water as solvent extraction of phenolic compounds from Dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina (L) DC ) and it’s antioxidant activity has been done. The solvent ratios tested were 100:0; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50. The result showed that the ratio of ethanol – water used as solvent has a significant correlation to an extractable material, phenolic compound and it’s antoxidant activity (P <0.05 ). The best solvent obtained by ethanol – water of 60 : 40, which gave the highest phenolic compound and antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Buah malur (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr) merupakan salah satu sumber molekul bioaktif yang menjanjikan dengan potensi yang luar biasa pada penelitian. Senyawa bioaktiv seperti steroid, alkaloid, flavonoid, fitosterol serta minyak lemak dari buah malur memiliki potensi dalam menurunkan kolesterol. Tingginya kadar kolesterol di dalam darah atau hiperkolesterolemia merupakan faktor resiko aterosklerosis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol buah malur (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr) terhadap kadar kolesterol total, LDL, HDL, trigliserida dan VLDL terhadap mencit putih jantan hiperkolesterolemia. Hewan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah mencit putih jantan yang dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif yang diinduksi makanan lemak tinggi dan propiltiourasil, ekstrak etanol buah malur dengan dosis 100 mg/kg BB, dosis 200 mg/kg BB, dosis 400 mg/kg BB dan pembanding (atorvastatin). Pengujian aktivitas antikolesterol dilakukan selama 28 hari, kemudian kadar kolesterol diukur menggunakan alat fotometer klinikal 5010. Hasil uji analisis menunjukan bahwa pemberian ekstrak etanol buah malur dengan varian dosis berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar kolesterol total, LDL, trigliserida, VLDL dan peningkatan kadar HDL secara signifikan (P<0,05). Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dosis 100 mg/kg BB dan dosis 200 mg/kg BB dan 400 mg /kg BB berpengaruh dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol total, LDL serta peningkatan HDL dan dosis 400 mg/kg BB merupakan dosis optimal dalam menurunkan trigliserida dan VLDL.

Abstract

Dissolution profiles of  4 formulas of paracetamol  mucoadeshif  formulas has been done. The test done by using pH 5,8 phosphate buffer as dissolution medium with rowing method, as stated in the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia IV edition. Paracetamol concentrations were measured by UV spectrophotometer at 243 nm. The average dissolution from each formula at 60 minutes are 10.1641%, 15.015%, 11.0631% and 11.8493% respectively. Adhesion test of some mucoadhesive granule adhesion test formulated by using Na-CMC single polymer and a combination of Na-CMC and gum arabic done bioadhesif in vitro assay using rabbit intestinal tissue. The result showed that the combination of Na-CMC polymer and gum Arabic can be used as a polymer bioadhesif because it shows results that meet the requirements of the test bioadhesif.

Abstract

Development and validation of methods of analysis of ranitidine hydrochloride tablets have been done by absorbance method and the method of the area under the curve by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. This study use the principle of calculation of absorbance and the area under the curve obtained from the measurement of the analyte solution by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer and distilled water as the selected solvent. Linearity ranitidine hydrochloride obtained in the concentration range of 6 - 14 ppm with correlation coefficient value by absorbance and the area under curve method respectively 0.99943 and 0.99947. Results of the study showed that the samples of generic ranitidine hydrochloride tablets obtained by absorbance method and the area under curve method was 99.57 ± 0.001 % and 103.30 ± 0.001 %. The average percent recovery obtained by the absorbance and the area under curve method was 98.31 % and 95.39 %. While the research results for the samples of Gasela tablets obtained by the absorbance and the area under curve method was 96.98 ± 0.002 % and 104.33 ± 0.009 %. The average percent recovery obtained by the absorbance method and the area under each curve was 98.89 % and 94.78 %.
