Abstract

This article discusses the use of implicature which is a theory put forward by H. Paul Grice, in a comedy web series titled Malam Minggu Miko–Episode Nissa. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of speech that contains implicatures in the series and describe the types of implicatures used. This research uses qualitative descriptive method with Malam Minggu Miko–Episode Nissa series by director Raditya Dika as the object of the research. This research uses data collection techniques with the documentation method that divided into several steps: (1) data reduction, display data and (3) verification data. The researcher uses the data found in the series and then analyse it with implicature theory by Grice and found at least 10 samples which are 7 utterances or questions containing conversational implicatures and 3 utterances or questions containing conventional implicatures.. Abstract

Indonesian children's interest in reading is still relatively low. The development of students' reading interest in school cannot be separated from the role of the library as a place where students can read and learn. However, the role of the library at MTs Negeri 1 Prabumulih is not maximized. It is proven by the small daily visitor list. This study will seek to optimize the role of the library in increasing students' reading interest using qualitative descriptive research methods with observation methods. Optimization is carried out by promotion, socialization, and collaboration with Indonesian language teachers. The results showed that the reading interest of students at MTs Negeri 1 Prabumulih increased as seen from the library visitors becoming more crowded as evidenced by the visitor book list which showed an increase from 100-250 visitors to more than 300 visitors who come during breaks and there is a regular schedule of library visits for each seventh grade. Abstract

The transformation of face-to-face to online learning becomes a challenge, specifically in teaching English Essay Writing. One of the solutions during online teaching and learning is the use of digital platforms. Moreover, teaching writing needs the process of giving feedback to improve the students’ writing ability. Consequently, integrating technology and feedback strategy becomes our attention. Therefore, this study aims at describing and explaining the digital platform used by the lecturers in teaching activity and feedback process, the lecturer’s and students’ perspectives towards the influence of digital platform in understanding the materials, the integration of digital platform and strategy in giving feedback, and the lecturer’s and students’ perspectives towards the impacts of the application of digital platform and strategy in giving feedback. This research employed interpretive qualitative. The data sources of our research were a lecturer of English Essay Writing and third-semester students of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Majapahit. The results of this study reveal that during online teaching and learning of English Essay Writing, the lecturer applied two kinds of digital platforms such as synchronous (Zoom) and asynchronous (e-learning, YouTube, Powerpoint) and two kinds of feedback strategies (direct and commentary feedback). The use of various digital platforms and feedback strategies are beneficial for the students in understanding the materials. The students’ understanding will also influence the students’ writing ability and quality. Thus, this research recommends the educators implement a combined-digital platform and choose appropriate feedback strategies in teaching writing skills during online learning.  Keywords: digital platform, online learning, feedback strategies, english essay writing

Abstract

This paper describes the formation of morphological verb in Korean (which is then abbreviated as BK) using the Item of Arrangement (IA) theory. The data has been collected through library research and recording techniques were analyzed according to the process of forming verbs in BK. The result analyses show that the BK verb category is divided into regular verbs and irregular verbs. In Korean morphology (BK), the morphological process that occurs is affixation in the form of suffixes.  In Korean morphology (BK), there are suffixes that indicate tense and affirmative polite markers. The components contained in BK are affirmative polite suffix markers, namely –yo or –eoyo and tense marker suffixes. Every root verb in Korean is always followed by a polite marker, namely –yo or –eoyo, while the tense marker sometimes appears between the verb root and the affirmative polite marker –yo or –eoyo. Abstract

Language error analysis in particular has many advantages in language teaching. The existence of an analysis of language errors can find out the mistakes made in Writing Student Activity Proposals. This study generally aims to describe the analysis of vocabulary and spelling errors of class XI IPS SMAN 7 Kediri City students on the use of Indonesian when writing activity proposals. Specifically, the purpose of this study was to describe (1) the form of diction errors, (2) the form of spelling errors, and (3) the teacher's efforts to correct errors. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that (1) there is a form of diction error or word choice in Student Activity Proposal Writing for class XI IPS SMAN 7 Kediri City as many as 15 include, incorrect word choice (PKTT) 6 errors, inappropriate word (KTS) 5 errors, and ineffective words (KTE) 4 errors, (2) the form of spelling errors in Student Activity Proposal Writing for class XI SMAN 7 Kediri City as many as 63 errors including, capital letters (HK) 39 errors, italics (HM) 8 errors, punctuation marks (TB) 12 errors, and word writing (PK) 4 errors, (3) the teacher's efforts to correct errors in the use of Indonesian, first, increasing students' mastery of language rules, and second, to better understand the rules of language words and spelling, third , provide motivation for students to read, fourth, the models and learning methods used by the teacher will be more diverse and interesting. Abstract

This study aims to improve speaking skills through the development of the SAVIBeL learning model by taking into account the characteristics and learning principles of students with special needs with disabilities in higher education. This research is motivated by the learning needs of students with disabilities, especially in terms of providing appropriate educational services for them. Apart from the needs of students, it is also motivated by the needs of lecturers as teachers of students with special needs requiring reference learning models which can be accepted not only by students with special needs but also by regular students. This research method uses research and development to develop the SAVIBeL model in learning language skills which includes the syllabus and lesson plans. This study also uses qualitative methods to observe various phenomena that occur and the techniques used are participatory observation techniques and quantitative methods to test the effectiveness of the model. Through research and development methods in developing learning models through analysis of the needs of students and lecturers. The results showed that the role of developing the SAVIBeL model in improving productive language skills, especially speaking skills. The SAVIBeL learning model developed has six learning components, namely syntagmatic learning steps consisting of preliminary, core and closing activities, social systems, reaction principles, support systems, instructional impacts, and accompaniment impacts. Abstract

This study aims to compare the stereotypes of Betawi people in the novel Si Dul Anak Jakarta and the film Si Doel Anak Betawi using ecranization studies. The adaptation of the novel to the film occurred because the novel was already well-known or popular among the public, one of which was the novel Si Dul Anak Jakarta which was made into the film Si Doel Anak Betawi. Si Dul Anak Jakarta succeeded in breaking the stigma of society regarding the image of the Betawi people who are lazy and only have muscle capital. This research uses a descriptive approach with a case study method. The results show that there is a comparison of stereotypes of Betawi people in novels and films. The stereotypes are like the Betawi people who have good social relations and reflect equality, the Betawi people are uneducated, the Betawi people adhere to the devout and fanatical Islamic religion, and the Betawi people only have muscles. Abstract

This research was conducted to explain how the gothic elements in horror stories are very influential in constructing the construction of the stories themselves. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods with theoretical perspectives and anthropological approaches. Researchers analyzed the gothic elements in the form of supernatural elements, mythical elements, abject elements, transgression elements, and monstrous feminine elements between the KKN thread in Penari Village with his novel book titled KKN in Penari Village by Simpleman. The results of the study were in the form of analytical data classified according to their categories, which were then compared between each of the gothic elements to determine their respective functions. Abstract

Character education aims to build character and character by instilling good character values ??in children from elementary school to higher education. Abstract

Every parent wants their children to be better than themselves, both in terms of emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence. This intelligence can be reflected in the attitudes and behavior of children. Attitudes and behavior in the linguistic field are called speech acts. The child's speech acts that every parent wants include politeness, responsibility, honesty, self-confidence, independence, discipline, humility, mutual help, love for others, creativity, caring for others, and religious. All of these are values ??that exist in character education. Children need to be instilled in character education so that future generations will be even better. Character planting can be done by providing language intakes to early childhood. Based on Skinner's behaviorism theory, language acquisition in early childhood can be done by stimulus or language intakes. Provision of intake can be adjusted to the desired character values ??of parents. Then, it is hoped that the children will respond with actions and speech. All actions and speech of the child will be adjusted to the achievement of the desired character values. The results found that language intake was in the form of: (a) invitation sentences such as, “Dek, let's pray!”; (2) interjections in the form of thayibah sentences, such as alhamdulillah; (3) prohibition sentences, such as "Don't litter, Dek!"; (4) an exhortation sentence, such as "If you dispose of garbage, it must be in its place, ok Dek"; and (5) the four magic words, namely sorry, please, thank you, and excuse me.
