Abstract

This study critically analyzes the conceptualization and implementation of creativity in 21st-century history education under the Kurikulum Merdeka framework. Employing a qualitative case study with a socio-constructivist perspective, data were gathered via interviews, observations, and document analysis, then processed using Miles and Huberman’s thematic analysis. The results indicate that creativity in history is a socially mediated process shaped by pedagogical design, student characteristics, and structural constraints. Furthermore, a tension exists between curriculum policy and classroom reality. The study’s novelty lies in the development of "historical creative literacy," which reconstructs creativity as an interpretive process rooted in historical thinking rather than a generic skill. This concept effectively bridges the gap between 21st-century skill requirements and the epistemological characteristics of history learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of the Puzzlangsi learning medium in an effort to improve student learning outcomes in the subject of Indonesian History, specifically regarding the events leading up to the Proclamation of Independence. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 36 eleventh-grade students at MA Darul Ulum Waru. Data collection was conducted through an expert validation questionnaire as well as pretest and posttest assessments. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, as well as N-Gain calculations. The research results show that the media’s feasibility, as assessed by media experts, reached 86% and was categorized as “very good,” while the content validation scored 82.2% and received the same rating. All items in the instrument were deemed valid, with an r-calculated value greater than 0.329, and the instrument demonstrated a reliability coefficient of 0.755, which is considered high. Furthermore, the improvement in student learning outcomes showed an N-Gain score of 0.81, which falls into the high category. Therefore, the Puzzlangsi learning media is deemed suitable for use and effective in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of Events Leading Up to the Proclamation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Android-based mobile learning media in improving students’ digital-based historical literacy in the Australian and Oceanian History course at the University of Lampung. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design involving 56 students of the History Education Study Program, cohort of 2023. Data were collected through a digital-based historical literacy test covering students’ abilities to understand historical contexts, analyze digital historical sources, interpret the meaning of historical events, and utilize digital technology to obtain and process historical information. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ historical literacy after the implementation of Android-based learning media. The average pretest score of 73.12 increased to 83.75 in the posttest, with a difference of 10.63 points. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test show a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference before and after the treatment. Android-based mobile learning media were proven effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills, digital-based historical literacy, and learning independence. These findings imply that the utilization of Android-based learning media can serve as an innovative approach to history learning that is interactive, flexible, and adaptive to students’ characteristics in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential of the Sapat Taun tradition as a source of history education based on local wisdom. This study employs a descriptive-qualitative literature review approach by analyzing various national and international scholarly sources relevant to local traditions, history education, and cultural heritage education. The results of the study indicate that the Sapat Taun tradition contains historical, social, cultural, spiritual, and ecological values that can be utilized in contextual and meaningful history education. This tradition embodies the values of mutual cooperation, respect for ancestors, gratitude, and care for the environment—values that are relevant to strengthening students’ character and cultural identity. Integrating the Sapat Taun tradition into history education has the potential to strengthen historical awareness, appreciation for local culture, and students’ connection to their social environment. Thus, the Sapat Taun tradition deserves to be positioned as a source of history learning based on local wisdom that supports more relevant, reflective learning oriented toward the preservation of regional cultural heritage.

Abstract

The low level of student engagement in history learning became the background of this study. This research aimed to analyze the effect of the Bottle Colour media on the learning engagement of tenth-grade students at SMAN 4 Tasikmalaya in the 2024/2025 academic year. The study addresses a research gap by integrating Behaviorist Theory into the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT). This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental Nonequivalent Control Group design. The sample consisted of class X5 as the experimental group using Bottle Colour media and class X6 as the control group using PowerPoint. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, independent sample t-test, and N-Gain tests. The results showed that Bottle Colour media significantly affected students’ learning engagement. The experimental class average score increased from 52.39 to 73.97, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and an N-Gain score of 0.6872. Therefore, Bottle Colour media effectively improved students’ engagement in history learning.

Abstract

Contemporary Indonesian education faces the challenge of producing graduates who are intellectually competent while rooted in national values. However, systematic philosophical reconstruction of national education thinkers as a foundation for the Merdeka Curriculum remains limited. This study aims to reconstruct Mohammad Sjafei’s educational philosophy through ontological, epistemological, and axiological analysis, map its position within pragmatism, essentialism, and progressivism, and identify its relevance to history learning. The study employed a qualitative method using a philosophical-historical literature approach and conceptual content analysis of Sjafei’s works and authoritative secondary sources. The findings reveal that Sjafei’s educational philosophy is grounded in the concept of integral humanity, contextual experience, and national character formation, reflected in the principle of “Alam Terkembang Jadi Guru” and the active-creative educational system of INS Kayutanam. The study contributes a synthesis of Western educational philosophy and local Indonesian epistemology as a reconstructive framework for place-based history pedagogy and strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

History education plays an important role in fostering diversity awareness, tolerance, and respect for differences. However, its implementation for deaf students faces challenges related to communication and access to learning materials. This study aims to analyze the implementation of multicultural-based history learning for deaf students at SKH Negeri 01 Kota Serang. A qualitative approach with a single case study design was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that the multicultural approach was implemented through visual media, sign language, multimodal communication, and the integration of local history and culture into the learning process. These strategies enhanced students’ understanding of historical content while fostering tolerance and appreciation of cultural diversity. Nevertheless, the limited availability of adaptive learning media and variations in students’ communication abilities remain significant challenges. The study highlights the importance of accessible and culturally responsive history education in supporting inclusive learning for deaf students.
