Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using Blooket as a learning medium on students’ interest in history learning in class XI.2 of SMAN 1 Darma. The research was motivated by the low learning interest caused by monotonous media use. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design was applied. The sample consisted of 64 students, with 32 in the experimental class (XI.2) and 32 in the control class (XI.5), selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated and reliable Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using an independent sample t-test with SPSS. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. These findings confirm that Blooket positively influences students’ interest in learning history. Thus, Blooket can serve as an effective interactive learning medium to enhance student engagement in history education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical reflections of History Education students at Sanata Dharma University on the dynamics of national integration in Indonesia’s general elections from 1999 to 2024 through interactive media. The research is grounded in Indonesia’s democratic challenges, including political polarization, identity conflicts, and declining democratic quality. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 25 students through observation, interviews, and reflective documentation. The findings reveal that students demonstrate a good understanding of democratic concepts and are able to apply democratic values in daily life. However, challenges remain, such as limited political literacy and low critical awareness of disintegration issues. The study recommends strengthening political education and digital literacy, promoting transparent law enforcement, encouraging inclusive political dialogue, and developing justice-oriented policies to reinforce national integration.

Abstract

The development of educational media in the form of educational games based on crossword puzzles was carried out using the Research and Development method with the Alessi & Trollip model. The media was validated by experts in subject matter, language, and media, showing very high validity results, namely 100% from media experts and 92.85% from subject matter experts. The practicality of the media was measured through a beta test involving teachers and students, with an average response of 97.78%, which is classified as very practical. This educational game was applied to material on the inscriptions left behind by the Sriwijaya Kingdom and was proven to increase student engagement in learning and foster an interest in studying history. This medium makes the learning process more meaningful and provides a contextual approach to understanding past events. The development of educational games based on crossword puzzles adds innovation to historical learning media and helps students understand past events in a more in-depth and contextual manner. The implications of this study show that educational games can be an effective alternative medium in history learning. Further development and widespread application of this medium is recommended to increase motivation and in-depth understanding of history.

Abstract

The Sedekah Bumi tradition in Cirebon is a local cultural practice rooted in agrarian life and transmitted across generations as an expression of gratitude for agricultural harvests as well as a means of social integration. However, in the current social context, this tradition faces challenges such as declining community participation, cultural commodification, and the erosion of traditional values under the pressure of modernization. This study aims to examine how the revitalization of Sedekah Bumi functions as a form of social engineering to strengthen community solidarity and social resilience. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through a literature-based approach that analyzes scholarly sources on local traditions, social capital, and social engineering. The findings show that revitalization not only restores the cultural function of the tradition but also reinforces social ties through collective participation, community cooperation, and the preservation of local values. Through this process, Sedekah Bumi has transformed from a cultural ritual into a strategic social instrument capable of maintaining social cohesion amid societal changes. The novelty of this study lies in its emphasis on positioning local tradition not merely as a cultural heritage to be preserved but as an adaptive social strategy for strengthening community resilience.

Abstract

This study analyzes the need for developing multicultural learning media based on local wisdom through Virtual Digital Storytelling (VDS) to strengthen students’ tolerance at SMA Santo Ignasius, Singkawang. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach (needs analysis) involving purposively selected informants: the Principal, Vice Principal for Curriculum, Vice Principal for Student Affairs, History Teacher, and a Sister as a cultural figure. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The findings reveal a pedagogical gap where teaching media remain conventional while students show a strong preference for visual and interactive content. All informants agreed on the urgency of developing VDS that incorporates local narratives (e.g., Cap Go Meh and Naik Dango) to enhance empathy, solidarity, and intercultural collaboration among students. The study recommends developing short and interactive VDS prototypes, organizing digital literacy training for teachers, and collaborating with local cultural figures to ensure content authenticity. These findings provide an empirical foundation for subsequent media design research aimed at promoting tolerance through multicultural education.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Dr. Soeharso as both a medical fighter and a pioneer of disability rehabilitation in post-independence Indonesia. Triggered by the growing number of war casualties who underwent amputations and lost limbs, this research aims to explain how Dr. Soeharso designed and implemented rehabilitation programs to restore physical function, independence, and social integration among persons with disabilities. Employing historical methods that include topic formulation, heuristic processes, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, the study draws on archival sources from the Rehabilitasi Centrum (RC) Surakarta, Soeharso’s writings and travel reports, as well as contemporary secondary sources. The findings reveal that Dr. Soeharso developed a comprehensive rehabilitation model encompassing medical treatment, social empowerment, and economic training, which later became a foundational framework for disability rehabilitation in Indonesia. The study highlights that his efforts not only advanced equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities but also enriched Indonesian medical historiography and scholarship on marginalized groups.

Abstract

This study aims to map research trends and findings on the role of history education in fostering nationalism and patriotism among Indonesian high school students from 2015 to 2025. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, data were collected from Google Scholar, SINTA, Garuda databases. Out of 500 initial articles, 20 met the PICOC inclusion criteria and were analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings reveal three main themes: digital technology integration in history learning, revitalization of local history to strengthen national identity, and participatory methods that foster empathy and historical awareness. History education plays a crucial role in internalizing national values in the digital era. This review is limited to high school-level studies and predominantly qualitative designs; thus, further mixed-method research is recommended to enhance result validity.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the National Socialist regime’s rise to power on the community of social science scholars at the University of Frankfurt and its broader implications for the development of modern social thought. The increasing dominance of anti-Semitic and racial ideology in pre-World War II Germany forced many Frankfurt intellectuals to flee for safety, leading to the dispersion of key scholars to various countries, including the United States. The research aims to explain how this displacement contributed to an epistemological shift from the Frankfurt School to the Chicago School, which later influenced the emergence of contemporary New Social Movements. Employing historical methods consisting of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiographical synthesis, the study analyzes the intellectual networks of scholars in Germany and the United States, the trajectory of the Institute for Social Research, and its relocation from Frankfurt to Chicago. The findings show that the transformation of German critical theory in the United States produced new frameworks that combined postmodern and Marxian perspectives, shaping movements such as anti-war activism, Black civil rights, feminism, and environmentalism. The study contributes to historical scholarship by highlighting how intellectual migration reshaped critical theory and laid the groundwork for modern sociopolitical movements.
