Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal the representation of a male character’s longing for his lover in the song Qiṣṣat Ḥubb, a song full of emotion. The song was sung by Umm Kulthum, a famous singer from Egypt who has a big influence in the Arab world. The song Qiṣṣat Ḥubb was composed by an Egyptian writer named Aḥamd Rāmī. In the song Qiṣṣat Ḥubb, some signs have a deeper meaning. The study of meaning in this study uses Charles Morris’s theory of semiotics, which is divided into three, namely syntactic meaning, semantic, and pragmatic meaning. This study used a descriptive-analytic method by describing the data on the object of research, then continued with the analysis. The results of this study indicate that the syntactic meaning in the song Qiṣṣat Ḥubb is the sadness of a man because he reminisces with his late lover. The semantic meaning of this song is the confusion of a man who is abandoned by his lover. Meanwhile, the pragmatic meaning is the longing of a man for his lover which causes suffering and almost drives him crazy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of Arabic learning outcomes using rewards and punishments. The research used an action research method by Kemmis and McTaggart model and was carried out in two cycles. The research subjects were grade 7 students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Jakarta, totaling 36 students including 19 male students and 17 female students. The instruments used tested learning outcomes and observation sheets. Learning outcome tests are used to measure the success of students in understanding Arabic lessons. Meanwhile, the observation sheet is used to measure the performance of teachers and students in learning. The scores that have been achieved by the students during the study are the pre-cycle score is 65,83, the exam score for cycle 1 is 66,80, and the exam score for cycle 2 is 75,69. There was an increase in the value from the pretest to the test cycle 1, namely 0,99, and the increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2 is 8,89. The number of improvement results in this study was 9,88. By using reward and punishment, students are more active in learning and can relate the subject matter to the surrounding environment and practice it directly in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the intertextual found between al-Ḥallāj’s poem (qaṣīdah) and Faruq Juwaidah’s wa Tāba al-Qalb poem. In this case, it refers to the basic assumption of intertext studies, namely that the texts or works that appear today are inseparable from the influence and role of the works that previously existed long before. Furthermore, in intertextual studies, old works that are used as a reference in making new works are called hypograms, while new works written by new authors that appear later are called transformational works. The method in this research is using descriptive analysis method. While the approach used is intertextual. Based on the results of the intertextual analysis conducted by researcher on qaṣīdah al-Ḥallāj and wa-Tāba al-Qalb poem, the researchers found (1) wa-Tāba al-Qalb poem is a form of transformation of qaṣīdah al-Ḥallāj, (2) wa-Tāba al-Qalb poem is the response from qaṣīdah al-Ḥallāj. The results of this study indicate that the impact or influence of old literary works on those that emerged later was very strong.

Abstract

Anchored in the characteristic of a poem having a meaning beyond the sentence, this study aims to reveal the meaning of a poem entitled al-Sijn written by Mahmoud Darwish. Darwish is called to people around the world as the revolutionary poet because of his maneuvers against Israel over its occupation of Palestina. Employing descriptive analysis, Riffaterre’s Semiotic theory is used as the framework involving four basic components namely indirectness of expressions, heuristic and hermeneutic readings, matrices, and models, variants, and hypograms as parameters in collecting and analyzing the data. The findings of this study indicate that poem al-Sijn is the expression of a poet’s emotion feeling a sense of alienation from his place. It involves expression on the consumed foods, identity as a Palestinian, and his hopes to have freedom and independence. Further, through the lens of hypogram analysis, a similar poem is entitled Barqiyah min al-Sijn because it implies the same meanings as al-Sijn and is related to each other.

Abstract

The use of learning media is needed in teaching and learning processes so that students can absorb learning materials well and learning activities become more effective. This study aimed to explore teaching and learning Arabic using Adobe Animate CC media in schools. Qualitative method with an ethnography approach was used in this study. Then, the research samples in this study were teachers and 8th grade students of SMPIT Arkan Cendekia, Bekasi City, West Java. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study showed that there were several steps carried out by the teachers in teaching and learning Arabic using Adobe Animate CC, namely (1) lesson planning, (2) learning implementation, and (3) learning evaluation. It was also found that the use of Adobe Animate CC media successfully increased students' learning motivation and students’ Arabic speaking skills. However, there are still some obstacles faced by the teachers in teaching and learning Arabic using these media. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that it can provide alternative and innovative solutions for teachers in implementing teaching and learning Arabic in the present.

Abstract

This study aims to study the life of the poet Musa Kalim Al-Qali and his eulogy poem. The method used in this study is the descriptive-analytical approach, where the researchers read the selected poem and then follow it with study and analysis. The poem chosen was Zajal al-Asīr which contains his praise to Sheikh Usman Al-Bashir. The results of this study indicate that (1) the beginning of the poem (maṭla‘ al-qaṣīdah) invites the reader to follow what he will say about the praised Sheikh; (2) good disposal (ḥusn al-takhalluṣ) of the poem, the poet proceeded directly with the topic, noting that he did not explore his poem with a prologue or propaganda introduction; (3) a good syllable (ḥusn al-maqṭa‘) in the poem, the last words upon which the poet stood was well tolerated and kept a pleasure in listening in the most eloquent expression and the most beautiful meaning; (4) the sincerity of emotion (ṣidq al-‘āṭifah), the poem was distinguished by the sincerity of emotion, the heat of feeling, and the acuity of feeling.

The poem chosen was Hiya al-Umm, an elegy poem for his mother. The results of this study indicate that the beginning of the poem (maṭla‘ al-qaṣīdah) invites the reader to follow his elegy (rithā’) poem for his mother; (2) good disposal (ḥusn al-takhalluṣ) of the poem, the poet proceeded directly with the topic, noting that he did not explore the introduction of his poem with depict the remaining of the camps (al-ṭalalīyah) or propaganda; (3) a good syllable (ḥusn al-maqṭa‘) in the poem, the last words upon which the poet stood was well tolerated and kept a pleasure in listening in the most eloquent expression and the most beautiful meaning; (4) the sincerity of emotion (ṣidq al-‘āṭifah), the poem was distinguished by the sincerity of emotion, the heat of feeling, and the acuity of feeling.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the problem of evaluating Arabic learning. This research used a qualitative descriptive and subjects were Arabic language teachers and grade IX students at SMPIT Insan Rabbani, Bekasi Barat. The data collection technique used observation, interview, and documentation techniques, while the data validation technique used triangulation techniques, namely triangulation of data sources and methods. data analysis. The results showed that: (1) the planning of the evaluation of Arabic learning at SMPIT Insan Rabbani is quite good; (2) the implementation of the evaluation of Arabic learning is carried out using the google form media; (3) the problem is that it is difficult to know the students’ Arabic skills and the character or behavior of the students are difficult to monitor. The location of the house is not covered by the internet network, including minimalist student internet quotas, or an unstable internet network. Efforts made by teachers in dealing with these problems by temporarily asking students to move locations that are accessible to the internet network.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to find out the description of peace messages in the Atouna El Toufoule video clip. In the video clip of Atouna El Toufoule, several signs have meaning. The study of meaning in this article uses a qualitative research methodology by analyzing images as data which is analyzed using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotics in finding meaning through signs, objects, and interpretants. The results of this study indicate that sign is mostly motivated by social context and does not require excessive interpretation of meaning. The object takes the side of social life that occurs in Palestinian society. Interpretants also sometimes directly criticize social life, culture, and the environment around them. The video clip of Atouna El Toufoule contains a moral message and an invitation to create peace for children living in conflict areas. They need a vacation so they can feel peace and freedom in their lives.

Abstract

Practice questions are the main part of every textbook, especially to evaluate and measure students’ abilities and skills. One of the books that are often used as a textbook by various madrasas and Islamic boarding schools on learning naḥwu for beginners is the al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ. Unfortunately, this book has not determined the quality in the validity of practice for the lesson, because it was written by an Arabic native speaker. So, the target of this book is not for non-native Arabic speakers. This study uses a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative to describe a more complete picture of item analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of practice questions in the al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ book in terms of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discriminating power. The results obtained are, (1) 93% of the exercise sample is under content validity; (2) from the results of the ANOVA test of two exercise samples, this test is quite reliable; (3) the difficulty level of the sample practice questions on naḥwu is fairly easy; (4) the discriminating power of the nahwu sample is sufficient. Thus, the analysis of practice questions in al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ is sufficient to measure students’ abilities.
