Abstract

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint inflammation that often occurs in the knee region and its prevalence increases with age. The prevalence of knee OA is the highest compared to other regions. Static balance is one of the problems in OA patients which is evaluated by the One leg stance test, but the reliability of this measuring instrument for patients with knee OA has not been reported in Indonesia. Research objective: To determine the reliability of the intra rater and inter rater one leg stance test as a measure of static balance in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Materials and methods: The research method used was an observational study with a methodological research approach. There were 58 respondents who signed informed consent and were involved in this study. Results/findings: Intra rater reliability showed a very high internal consistency in both right and left eye open positions (?>0.9) with ICC=0.8-0.9. Whereas OLS in closed eyes shows moderate to low internal consistency and moderate ICC. The results of the inter-rater reliability analysis showed very high internal consistency and ICC for the right and left leg open eyes. Whereas in closed eyes it has internal consistency and moderate to high ICC for the right and left. Conclusion: The ability to maintain static balance in the closed eye position is something that is not easy for patients with knee OA to do, possibly due to pain and also reduced function in the elderly, this is indicated by the low consistency value for OLS in the closed eye position.

Abstract

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is a disease caused by working with tools that produce vibrations that are transmitted to the arms and hands. Prolonged use of vibrating devices can cause sensorineural disturbances with complaints of numbness, tingling and decreased sensitivity. This is due to damage to the mechanoreceptors of myelinated A-? afferent nerve fibers due to exposure to vibration when working with vibrating tools. Neurodynamic mobilization functions to restore the plasticity of the nervous system and the ability of the nervous system. This study aims to determine the effect of neurodynamic mobilization on reducing sensorineural symptoms with the risk of HAVS in wood craftsmen in Dawung Village. The design of this study used a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design method. There are 15 samples of wood craftsmen who meet the criteria. The research instrument used the Stockholm workshop scale with data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the statistical test showed that the final result was p = 0.000, (p <0.05) which means that the effect of neurodynamic mobilization on reducing sensorineural symptoms in wood craftsmen in Dawung Village is at risk of HAVS. These results indicate that the neurodynamic mobilization intervention has effectiveness in increasing blood circulation in the nerves. The conclusion obtained is that neurodynamic mobilization has an effect on reducing sensorineural symptoms in wood craftsmen in Dawung Village with the risk of HAVS.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is pain during menstruation that is felt in the lower abdomen and also in muscle pain in the upper thighs, lower back, pelvis, and waist to calves. Dysmenorrhea also affects emotions and anxiety due to feelings that are uncomfortable and foreign to adolescents. Therefore dysmenorrhea must be handled so that these impacts can be minimized. Every year, dysmenorrhea is a problem that always arises among women of childbearing age. This research was conducted because there was data from a preliminary study and it was found that 90% of young women experienced dysmenorrhea, namely in young women at Bah Jambi Private Middle School. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dysmenorrhea exercise on menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in young women at Bah Jambi Private Middle School. Quasi-experimental research with a one-group pre-test post-test design scheme. A total of 37 young women were selected to be the sample, which was determined by purposive sampling. The resulting data in the form of a search scale will be analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The pain scale before the dysmenorrhea exercise showed that most of the respondents experienced menstrual pain that interfered with their activities. After doing the exercise, the menstrual pain for young women becomes a little painful. Based on the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test with a 95% level of confidence, the value of p = 0.00 is obtained, where this value is less than 0.05, which means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that dysmenorrhea exercise affects reducing menstrual pain in young women at Bah Jambi Private Middle School.
