Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the form and meaning of reduplication in the Malay language of the Kampar Kiri dialect. This study used a qualitative approach and descriptive method which aimed to describe the form of reduplication and analyze the meaning of the Malay language of Kampar Kiri dialect. The object of this study was in the form of Riau Malay dialect Kampar Kiri dialect used by the people of Batu Sasak Village. Data was obtained by fishing techniques, interview techniques, record techniques, and note-taking techniques. The data were described based on the type and analyzed based on the meaning of the reduplication of the Malay language in the Kampar Kiri dialect. Data that has been analyzed are then formulated into conclusions. After analyzing the data, ten forms were found, namely one beinfix reduplication, three sulfimated reduplication, six prefixed reduplication in the first phallus, four had reduplication prefixed on the second phallus, and three were suffixed reduplication. In addition, six confixed reduplication, five regional reduplication, three voice copy reduplication, ten affixed duplication reduplication, and ten duplicate reduplication without affixes. The total number of forms of reduplication in Riau Malay in the Kampaar Kiri dialect were 51 one data.

Abstract

This study discussed the politicization of language through euphemisms that conducted at the time of news broadcasts on television stations by noticing the background of the use of the euphemisms. Euphemism in the mass media is not merely aimed at replacing taboo words, but rather is ideological politics. The problem raised in this study was "How was the politicization of language through euphemisms in news programs on television in terms of its use?". The purpose of this study was to describe the form and function of politicizing the meaning of words through euphemisms in news programs contained on television. This research was a descriptive research. Data analysis was performed using content analysis and then explained in accordance with the research findings. Based on the results of the study, the authors found that politicized euphemisms in the TVone news program amounted to 30 euphemisms with several reasons why the euphemisms were chosen and used include: (1) to smooth out words so that other people are not offended, (2) to keep things secret, (3) for diplomacy or berororis, (4) to disguise meaning, (5) to avoid panic and fear, (6) to respect others.

Abstract

Learning interest is an intellectual system that is very important in learning activities. However, in learning the Indonesian language at the SMP/MTs level, the tendency of students’ learning interest is still weak. One of the learning materials in the curriculum 2013 is discussion text which is the focus of this study. In writing discussion text, one of the obstacles often faced by students was the lack of knowledge about the language politeness in expressing ideas or something disapproval. Related to this problem, this study aimed to explain the effect of learning interest and language politeness towards the writing achievement of discussion text of eight grade students at SMPN 21 South Tangerang. This research method was a survey method with multiple correlation regression analysis. The population of eight grade students of SMPN 21 South Tangerang was 30 students. Then, the data collection was done by distributing questionnaires directly to the sample which were 30 students. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics was used. The results showed; (1) there was an interactive effect between learning interest and language politeness towards the writing achievement of discussion text. It was evidenced by the significant value which was 0.000<0.005 and Fcalculated =34,499. Besides, the learning Interest and language politeness collectively contributed 71.9% towards students’ writing achievement of discussion text; (2) there was an effect of language politeness towards students’ writing achievement of discussion text that was more significant than the effect of learning interest. It can be proven from the value of tcalculated =8,249 for language politeness which was greater than the value of tcalculated =1.762 for learning interest.

Abstract

The background of the research was based on the existence of Abu Nawas stories that contain humor aspects. Besides, it has its uniqueness, so that readers are curious. The story of Abu Nawas is categorized as an anecdotal story because it contains the same structure and rules as the anecdotal text. Besides it also has a moral value so that it can be used as alternative teaching material at schools. Regarding the importance of Abu Nawas story, this study aimed to describe the structure and rules of anecdotal texts in the collection of Abu Nawas stories. This research was descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted in literature. The research took six months. Data was collected using documentation techniques. This research data contained the text of the Abu Nawas anecdotal story containing structure and language use. The data analysis technique used in this study was the procedure and analysis model according to Miles and Huberman which consists of three stages, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The results of this study, first, in terms of the generic structure, 44 anecdotal texts were perfect and 14 texts were not complete. It was proven by the average value which was 94% and was categorized complete based on the standard of anecdotal text structure covering abstract, orientation, crisis, reaction, and coda. Second, in terms of language use, 19 stories were complete and 39 stories did not use the language use properly. It was proven by the average value which was 75% and was categorized complete. The language features used in the form of past tense, rhetorical questions, temporal conjunction, material verbs, and imperative sentences.

Abstract

The inner conflict is a part of the prosaic objectivity elements that are inherent in the characters, especially novels. It occurs as the attraction of the story so that the values ​​of ethics and personal values ​​are illustrated that can be enjoyed. Internal conflict as a reflection of the fact of humanity that is always faced by anyone, does not rule out the possibility of figures contained in literary works. With its existence makes the story more alive and meaningful with all events in it. The focus of inner conflict in this novel is the perspective of the first person 'I', the author of the novel himself, Fiersa Besari. So, this study aimed to describe the inner conflict on the character "I" in Garis Waktu novel written by Fiersa Besari. It was a qualitative study that used a descriptive-analytical method. Garis Waktu Novel was used as a source of data. Identification, description analysis, discussion, and conclusions were applied to analyze the data. The results were the personal life of the character 'I' through psychoanalytic studies. His personal life did not merely apply because of the personality concept as a writer, all the inner conflicts that occurred also related to the social external concepts of characters, where there was an involvement of other people in creating inner conflicts within the character. The conclusion is the inner conflict faced which is a form of emotional overflow that occurs because the elements in themselves are influenced by external elements, so as a character often this inner conflict is a part of personality that cannot be avoided by humans themselves, including the figure of Fiersa Besari.

Abstract

This research focused on the effectiveness of online based-learning applications that are applied due to physical distancing policies. Physical distancing was applied by the Indonesian government as a preventive for the transmission of the COVID 19 virus, but it was not very successful because positive numbers continue to grow. COVID pandemic 19 changed various people's lifestyles in all fields including the education sector. The irony of the impact occurring in the education sector related to student finances which dropped dramatically without any income. There was news of a pseudo UKT 10% discount policy. This has decreased the spirit of students in learning because online learning uses a large quota. Various learning applications are gaining in popularity among students ranging from paid to not. Experiments on each application showed the advantages and disadvantages of each. Hadith Sciences students as a sample in this research responded that the application of Whatsapp was more effective. This research used purposive sampling by using a questionnaire as data collection material, and literature study as an approach model. The results of the research were: 1) Pillar of pandemic era bourgeois public unrest, 2) Discourse on UKT reduction policy, 3) Diffusion of online applications.

Abstract

Reading poetry is one of the skills in the field of literature included in the learning of Indonesian language and literature in high school. Reading poetry is not the same as reading in general. Reading poetry requires a special skill, namely a reading expression skill. Reading expression trains students to be creative in expressing a poetic text and creating appreciation, vocal techniques, and appearance that are following the contents of the poetry. Unfortunately, based on the field observation, it found that the poetry reading skills of students in class XII Social Science 1 at SMAN 16 Pekanbaru were still low, as seen from the lack of students’ ability in ensouling, vocal techniques, and performances that did not match the contents of the poetry they read. The problem formulation of this study was whether the use of basic outdoor training techniques can improve students' poetry reading skills and how the changes of students’ behaviors in reading poetry learning after applying basic outdoor training techniques in class XII Social Science 1 at SMAN 16 Pekanbaru? This study aimed to describe the improvement of students' ability in reading poetry and to investigate the changes of students’ behaviors in reading poetry learning after applying basic outdoor training techniques in class XII Social Science 1 at SMAN 16 Pekanbaru. The type of this research was classroom action research. The results of this study show that there was an improvement of students' poetry reading skills with an average score of the cycle I was 69.32 and an average score of the cycle II was 82.97. In other words, there is an increase from cycle I to cycle II of 13.65 points or 19.69%. While the changes in students’ behavior in reading poetry learning experience the addition of positive behavior.

Abstract

Semiotics is a method of analysis that examines signs. This collection of poems Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil works contains many semiotic elements such as icons, indexes, and symbols. This study only focused on 14 poems from 59 poetry collections Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil. In this study, three problem formulas examine semiotics, namely what are the icons contained in a collection of poetry Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil, what are the indices contained in a collection of poetry Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil, and what are the symbols contained in a collection of poetry Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil. This study aims to describe the semiotic collection of poetry Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil. The benefit of this research is to increase the reader's understanding and knowledge about literature, especially on the semiotic study contained poetry Tersebab Aku Melayu by Taufik Ikram Jamil. The theory used in this research is semiotic studies which include aspects of icons, index aspects, and aspects of the symbol. The research data that the writer took in the form of words in the form of phrases, clauses, and sentences in the text contained in a collection of poetry books. The technique of collecting data in this research is a literature study. While the analysis technique used is reducing data, presenting the data and drawing the conclusion. The data of this study amounted to 314, consisting of 14 poems. Each character experienced their stages of existence of the religious stage. The details of 314 data are as follow, in the aspect of the icon found 1n 274 data, the index aspect was found in 12 data, and the aspect symbol was found in 28 data.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the characters' cultural meaning and educational values ​​in the poem Ikan Terubuk. It explains that people's moral education results from the refinement of the values ​​instilled since ancient times. Besides, it could also be useful for developing regional literature and enriching teaching materials for teachers of Indonesian language and literature and the learning of local culture, especially in the Riau. Thus, the poem Ikan Terubuk can be known and understood by the next generation so that local wisdom characteristics remain preserved and well maintained by the community. This type of research was qualitative with descriptive methods. The data collection technique used was the note-taking technique. The subject of this research was the poem Ikan Terubuk. This research aimed to focus on stylistic elements, cultural meanings, and educational values ​​of character in the poem Ikan Terubuk. Data analysis through steps: data reduction, data presentation, and inference. The reliability of intra-rater and inter-rater obtained the validity of data. After clarifying the 10 data, it is reflected in the poetry of Ikan Terubuk, which is still developing contextually and has shifted functionally as a magical power in a ritual ceremony in Riau. The religious, nationalist, independent, cooperative, and integrity values showed moral education in this poem. The Islamic values became the dominant value in the poem Ikan Terubuk because it has relevance to the ethnic Malay majority Bengkalis as a devout Muslim.

Abstract

This research was motivated by technological advances that have influenced traditional games' popularity as symbols of culture, so it is necessary to preserve and maintain them through the quality of knowledge. How can the quality of possession of knowledge of Malay symbols in the field of play among FKIP Riau University students be formulated? The research objective was to analyze and describe the quality of possession of knowledge of Malay symbols in the field of play among FKIP students at the University of Riau. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach—observation of knowledge with a likert scale. The observation sample was 870 people from a population of 6300 people or 13.8% of 100%. The sample was taken randomly based on questionnaire filling and collection. The technique of collecting data employed a questionnaire related to the traditional games of the Riau Malay community. The process of collecting data distributed through a google form. The collected data were substituted and analyzed with descriptive statistics, Product Moment, and Anova. The analysis results showed that students' knowledge regarding traditional games of the Malay community as a cultural symbol was at a standard of mean 4.37 with a very high category. The games of gasing, bakiak, congkak, enggrang, layang-layang, tarik tambang, petak umpet, benteng, ligu, and statak can contribute information to knowledge ownership of the games of the Riau Malay community by 35.9%. In comparison, other games were at 64.1%. The possession of this knowledge has supported documenting various games and preserving the existence of these games. Besides, the content of values ​​in the game is a means of character education and supports learning and learning activities.
