Abstract

This quantitative research explores the differences in early childhood cognitive development levels based on the mother’s educational background. Using observation-based performance assessments, measure children’s cognitive development through 3 aspects: child social interaction, understanding of symbols, and reasoning involving samples. This study involved 30 children aged 5-6 years divided into two groups. The first group was children who had mothers with university-level education, while the other group was children with high school-level education. The collected data were analyzed to describe the demographic char samples’ demographic characteristics using an independent t-test to measure cognitive differences between the two groups of children. Significantly the educated mother results showed differences in cognitive development between the groups. Children with highly educated mothers have better cognitive abilities than children with mothers from a lower level of education. This research has implications for the importance of parental education to optimize children’s cognitive development.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum for early childhood education with an integrative thematic and scientific approach is very suitable for integrating STEAM-based learning as it is carried out through various contexts to bring subject matter closer to everyday life or the themes are close to the world of children. However, children's social skills have not developed well; children have not been able to cooperate with their peers. The aim of this research was to develop early childhood cooperation by implementing STEAM project-based learning (PjBL). This study used classroom action research and it involved 15 children with an age range of 5-6 years in Salsabil Early Childhood Education, Telagawaru, West Nusa Tenggara. Data were obtained through observation regarding the activities of the teachers and children. The result showed that the cooperation among children improved significantly in cycle 1 to 3 after implementing STEAM PjBL. Therefore, the implication of STEAM PJBL can develop the ability to work together in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the project method on the environmental care character of early childhood. The research uses a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental Design research design, the type of one-group pre-test-post-test design. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The data collected through the instrument was compiled based on expert theory which consists of disposing of their garbage, watering the plants, and helping to care for the plants. The results obtained from applying the project method to children whose environmental care character has not yet developed indicate that the environmental care character in children increases after the treatment given using the project method is proven by t count greater than t table with an alpha significance level of 0.05. Thus, teachers can use other these methods as a strategy to develop environmental care characteristics from an early age. To solve the problem of environmental care character according to other age stages, further action research can be carried out.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a child-friendly school (CFS) in improving children's self-esteem. In addition, it also describes the implementation of child-friendly schools in learning activities, facilities and infrastructure The study applied descriptive qualitative approach. The informants were the principal, teacher, and students aged 4-5 at Pembina Srengat State Kindergarten. The researcher gathered data through interviews, documentation, and observation. The result of this study suggest that CFS adoption has a considerable impact on boosting self-confidence. Children can express their emotions during play and learning activities, share their thoughts, and carry out the many duties assigned by the teacher. Although the teacher occasionally gives the students additional direction due to the children's frequently clashing personalities in early childhood, the character of self-confidence has been accomplished. It follows that creative and engaging teachers can influence students' feelings of enjoyment while studying, thereby continually developing a self-assured character.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the sibling rivalry behavior mentioned in the Quran involving Prophet Yusuf and his brothers, its causes, indications, effects and treatment as extracted from the story. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach involving various sources such as journals, books and classic literatures. The result of this study indicated that the causes of siblings encountered in the story of Prophet Yusuf as. were jealousy that builds an assumption of the existence of favoritism between siblings by parents, kids being competitive to get their parent's attention, lack of empathy for the sibling, harmful anger and manipulative attitude. To deal with this behavior, Prophet Yaqub showed an example as a distinctive parent by being patient with the children's behavior, playing fair with all his children, building good communication, and educating the children to always have a good connection with God.
