Abstract

Student learning interest is one of the key factors in the success of the learning process, especially in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects that emphasize the formation of values and character. Initial observations at SMP Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung showed low student involvement and interest in PAI learning due to the dominant use of conventional methods that are less interactive. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model on student learning interest in PAI subjects. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method through a post-test only control group design. The sample consisted of two classes, namely VII.9 as the experimental class that received the TSTS model treatment and VII.4 as the control class. Data were collected using a non-test questionnaire that measures two indicators of learning interest: involvement and interest. Data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using t-tests. The results showed a significant effect of the TSTS model on student learning interest with a significance value of 0.001 (p <0.05). These findings confirm that the TSTS model is effective in creating a collaborative learning environment, increasing student participation, and encouraging interaction and information exchange between groups. Therefore, the TSTS cooperative learning model is worthy of recommendation as an alternative strategy to increase learning interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI).

Abstract

Sapeken District is a remote archipelagic area with limited transportation access and educational infrastructure, resulting in unequal youth development services. Low public awareness of the importance of education further exacerbates adolescents’ vulnerability to the negative impacts of globalization and unfiltered information technology. In recent years, moral degradation among adolescents in this region has intensified due to weak value-based guidance and limited moral supervision. This study aims to analyze the role of Abu Hurairah Islamic Boarding School in strengthening adolescents’ moral resilience in Sapeken District, Sumenep Regency. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving teachers, students, and relevant stakeholders. The findings reveal that Abu Hurairah Islamic Boarding School plays a strategic role in enhancing adolescents’ moral resilience through intensive religious education, exemplary role modeling by teachers and caregivers, personal mentoring approaches, and the enforcement of firm rules and sanctions against deviant behavior. These efforts effectively foster adolescents’ moral resilience and promote the internalization of moral values in dailylife.

Abstract

This study is situated within Islamic education, particularly the pedagogy of pesantren in teaching classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning). It aims to analyze the implementation of the halaqah method in enhancing students’ learning interest and understanding of Fathul Qorib at Al-Hikmah Islamic Boarding School, Bandar Lampung. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving purposively selected teachers and students. The findings indicate that the halaqah method is implemented through four stages reading, translating, understanding, and arguing forming a hierarchical cognitive process. This method increases students’ learning interest, as shown by active participation and engagement, and improves their understanding, reflected in their ability to explain and relate the material to real-life contexts. However, higher-order thinking skills, particularly argumentation, are not evenly developed among all students. This study contributes by proposing an integrative halaqah-based learning model that combines cognitive, affective, and social dimensions, while emphasizing the importance of students’ foundational linguistic competence. These findings provide a basis for developing more adaptive and contextual models for teaching classical Islamic texts in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates how 31 intermediate EFL learners used AI-generated transcripts to monitor, regulate, and reshape their listening comprehension during seven weeks of structured listening activities. Data from open-ended questionnaires and focus group discussions were analyzed thematically. The findings show that learners used transcripts as metacognitive scaffolds to compare spoken input with written text, identify misheard words and unfamiliar vocabulary, confirm interpretations, and revise misunderstandings. Rather than passively relying on transcripts, learners used them to verify unclear parts and reflect on comprehension gaps. Transcript use also helped learners shift from word-level decoding to a gist-oriented understanding by making unclear acoustic input more visible. The study suggests that guided use of AI transcripts can promote more reflective, strategic, and autonomous EFL listening.
