Abstract

Evaluation is a fundamental component in the teaching and learning process, serving as a diagnostic tool to assess the effectiveness of educational activities. This qualitative descriptive study investigates the implementation of learning evaluation aligned with the 2013 Curriculum in Grade X at SMKN 4 Bone, Indonesia. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving key educational stakeholders including the principal, vice principal for curriculum, and homeroom teachers. The findings reveal that the evaluation process encompassed key stages: planning, implementation, data processing, and reporting. Notably, SMKN 4 Bone also integrated continuous monitoring and application of evaluation outcomes dimensions that extend beyond conventional evaluation theory. Learning evaluation at this school involved cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, assessed through a range of instruments such as written tests, oral assessments, assignments, observations, and performance-based evaluations. While the evaluative procedures largely reflect the theoretical framework, some areas particularly the interpretation and integration of affective and spiritual assessment require further refinement. This study underscores the importance of comprehensive, reflective evaluation systems for curriculum implementation and recommends enhanced teacher capacity-building in evaluation literacy.

Abstract

This study explores the role of student recruitment management in enhancing the quality of educational institutions, with a case study conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Awangpone, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through structured interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the recruitment process is systematically managed through four key phases: planning, organizing, implementation, and monitoring. The effectiveness of these processes significantly contributes to institutional improvement, particularly in student intake quality. Moreover, the study identifies several institutional quality drivers, including leadership commitment to quality, continuous teacher training, internal organizational support, effective communication, recognition and rewards, and routine evaluation practices. The results suggest that structured recruitment management not only streamlines student admission but also serves as a strategic tool to elevate educational quality. These findings have implications for school management practices in similar educational contexts.

Abstract

The transition into the new normal era following the COVID 19 pandemic presents unique challenges for the education sector, particularly in ensuring safe, effective, and adaptive learning environments. This study explores the urgency of managing educational facilities and infrastructure to support face-to-face learning during the new normal period at UPT SMAN 9 Bone, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving key school stakeholders. Findings reveal that effective management comprising planning, procurement, inventory, utilization, maintenance, and accountability is crucial for enabling a conducive and health-compliant learning environment. The study also highlights adaptive learning practices such as blended learning, limited face-to-face instruction, and home visits as part of the school's strategy. These findings underscore the strategic role of infrastructure management in maintaining educational continuity and resilience amid post-pandemic transitions.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of a management information system (MIS) and its role in decision-making at SD Inpres 10/73 Watang Palakka. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the school has adopted a digital-based MIS, particularly through the DAPODIK platform, which enables efficient management of student and staff data. Despite some manual processes persisting—such as attendance tracking and certain assessment procedures—the digital system significantly supports school operations. The MIS has facilitated more accurate performance evaluations, streamlined report preparation, and enhanced administrative decisions, particularly during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, limitations such as unstable internet connectivity still hinder optimal performance. Overall, the MIS contributes positively to improving the school's operational effectiveness and supports strategic decision-making by providing timely and accessible information.

Abstract

The role of teachers is pivotal in shaping student discipline and fostering character development within the school environment. This study investigates the strategies employed by teachers at MTs Ar-Raihan Lattekko in enhancing the discipline of ninth-grade students. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that teachers enact twelve key roles in discipline development, including acting as organizers, informants, class managers, demonstrators, mediators, facilitators, motivators, inspirators, initiators, evaluators, climatologists, and culminators. These roles are reflected through structured classroom management, daily behavioral guidance, provision of role models, motivation, and reward systems. Discipline techniques applied are rooted in democratic values, emphasizing preventive and supportive actions rather than punitive measures. This research highlights the effectiveness of teacher-led discipline strategies in shaping responsible student behavior, offering valuable insights for educational institutions seeking to strengthen character education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of educational punishment in enhancing student discipline within public elementary schools in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Grounded in qualitative research methodology, the study utilized classroom observation, structured interviews with teachers, and document analysis to assess behavioral changes among students following the implementation of corrective disciplinary measures. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students' adherence to school rules and classroom norms after the introduction of pedagogically sound punishments. The disciplinary interventions were carefully designed to be constructive, non-threatening, and proportional to the students’ infractions. Cooperation between teachers, school principals, and students played a crucial role in supporting the enforcement of discipline. The study concludes that educational punishment, when applied with consistency and empathy, serves not only as a deterrent but also as a developmental tool for shaping responsible student behavior. These findings have implications for educators and policymakers seeking effective, ethical strategies for managing discipline in primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of principal leadership in improving teacher professionalism on the effectiveness of classroom management at MI Amir Fil Jannah Tippulue. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of principals and classroom teachers. The results of the study show that school principals have carried out their strategic role as leaders through structured supervision, providing direction, and facilitating teacher competency improvement. The professionalism of teachers is reflected in the preparation of lesson plans, mastery of materials, and the use of varied learning methods. However, challenges are still found in terms of students' limited literacy skills, low motivation to learn, and support for a learning environment that is not optimal. Overall, the principal's leadership has proven to have a significant contribution in building teacher professionalism and more effective classroom management, although ongoing interventions are needed to address external constraints that affect student learning outcomes.

Abstract

School marketing has become a critical strategy for educational institutions seeking to remain competitive and sustainable, especially in rural and underenrolled schools. This study explores the marketing strategies implemented by SD Inpres 12/79 Walenreng 2, a public elementary school in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, to attract new student enrollment. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis with key school stakeholders, including the principal and homeroom teachers. The findings reveal that the school applies direct socialization strategies, including door-to-door outreach to prospective students' families, as well as basic promotional efforts highlighting the school's mission and character education values. Despite limitations in infrastructure, these efforts demonstrate moderate success in generating interest among prospective students and their families. The study also identifies intrinsic factors (such as curiosity and interest) and extrinsic factors (such as peer influence and parental decisions) that affect student enrollment interest. This research emphasizes the importance of proactive, context-sensitive marketing approaches in educational institutions operating in resource-constrained settings. The findings contribute to a broader understanding of educational marketing in developing country contexts and offer practical insights for school leaders aiming to enhance student recruitment efforts.
