Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased levels of sugar in the blood (hyperglycemia) due to the disorder. Diabetes can affect the quality of life with several aspects, namely diabetes care, symptoms of diabetes, and chronic complications that cause high morbidity and mortality rates for people with type 2 diabetes, which reduces the quality of life for people with type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the quality of life of type 2 DM patients at the Sudiang Raya Public Health Center Makassar in 2021. The research method used was cross sectional method. The population consisted of 120 patient diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus type 2. By total sampling method, 120 respondents were chosen. The data were analyzed by using univariate analysis by gaining frequency of data, bivariate analysis using chi-square and multivariate analysis using regression linear. Factors analyzed were, family support. The result show that significant factors affecting the quality of life in patient with diabetes mellitus type 2 are family support (p value=0,005).

Abstract

Health facilities in the form of pharmacies are very easy to find anywhere and are affordable by the community so that consumers can freely choose a pharmacy that suits their wishes which can be influenced by several things. This study aims to determine consumer perceptions that influence the selection of Apotek Hashifah 02 Makassar City as a place for self-medication. This research was conducted using a descriptive survey method using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. This research was conducted in March 2022 by distributing questionnaires to 97 people who came to the Hashifah 02 Pharmacy Makassar City and according to the respondents' criteria. The results showed that the reasons for consumers to self-medicate at Hashifah Pharmacy 02 were close distance (75%), fast service (100%), friendliness of officers in drug services (100%), staff's ability to provide drug information (100%). , cheap drug prices (91%), complete medicines (90%), strategic location of pharmacies (90%) clean pharmacy conditions (100%), spacious and comfortable waiting room (69%), recommendations from acquaintances or family (43%), employees who look neat and polite (100%). So it can be concluded that consumer perceptions that affect the selection of Hashifah 02 Pharmacy Makassar City as a place for self-medication are fast service, friendliness of officers in drug services, the ability of officers to provide drug information, clean pharmacy conditions, and employees who look neat and polite.

Abstract

Diuretics are substances that can increase the rate of excretion of urine volume and indicate the amount of expenditure (loss) of solutes and water. The Alang-Alang rhizome and the Cat's Whiskers plant are one of the many plants that have many advantages and have been used for a long time in an effort to maintain health. This study aims to determine the combined activity of Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrical L.) Rhizome Extract and Kumis Leaf Extract. Cat (Orthosiphon stamineus L.) as a diuretic in mice (Mus musculus). The test animals were divided into 5 groups, each group consisted of 3 test animals. Group I was given a 1% w/v Na-CMC colloidal solution as a control. Groups II, III and IV were given a suspension of a combination of Alang-Alang rhizome extract and Kumis Kucing Leaf extract with each dose of 100 mg/Kg BW ratio (1 : 1), (1 : 2) and (2 : 1) as the treatment group. The highest to lowest diuretic activity sequentially with the average value being furosemide (3.67), combination (Alang-Alang rhizome: Daun Kumis Kucing) 2 : 1 (2.67), combination (Rimpang Alang-Alang: Daun Kumis Kucing) ) 1 : 2 (1,33), and a combination (Alang-Alang Rhizome: Cat's Whisker Leaf) 1 : 1 (1,33). The largest combination dose that gave an increase in urinary frequency was at a combination dose of 2: 1 (Rhimpang Alang-Alang: Daun Kumis Kucing) with an average value of 2.67.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the description of the interaction of prescription drugs in polypharmacy at one of the pharmacies in Bumi Tamalanrea Permai Makassar. The purpose of this study was to determine the description and number of prescription drug interactions in polypharmacy at one of the pharmacies in Bumi Tamalanrea Permai Makassar. This research was conducted descriptively and data collection was carried out prospectively. The results showed that there were 43 prescriptions (out of a total of 284 prescriptions) that had DDI potential, 5 prescriptions that had DDI potential in the major category, 11 prescriptions with moderate DDI potential, 27 recipes with minor DDI potential. The results showed that the potential for DDI that occurred was less than 50%. However, this should receive attention because DDI should not occur in drugs given to patients.

Abstract

One of the efforts to prevent COVID-19 is to increase the body's resistance. Basically, the human body has an immune system or immune system to fight viruses and bacteria that cause disease which can be maintained with the use of traditional medicine. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of the community in RT.006/RW.002 Nusa Tamalanrea Indah on the use of immune-enhancing traditional medicines. This type of research is descriptive, namely research that includes surveys with data collection techniques in the form of filling out questionnaires. This research was conducted in Tamalanrea Indah Village, Makassar City, South Sulawesi in February-March 2022 with a total sample of 55 respondents with criteria 17-50 years old, able to communicate well, willing to be interviewed and physically and mentally healthy. The results of the study in RT.006/RW.002 Nusa Tamalanrea Indah concluded that the largest number of respondents were 29 women (52.73%), the data on the age of the most respondents were aged 31-50 years amounted to 20 people (36.36%). data on the work of the most respondents, namely household workers, other jobs and not working each 12 people (21.82%), respondents' knowledge of traditional medicinal plants to increase endurance are ginger, turmeric, lemongrass and moringa leaves. The most used part of the plant is the leaves. The most used processing method is by boiling and the percentage of knowledge is 97.18%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the level of knowledge of the community in RT.006/RW.002 Nusa Tamalanrea Indah towards the use of traditional medicine for increasing endurance is relatively high.

Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs used to treat infectious diseases. The high incidence of infectious diseases results in the high use of antibiotics. The use of antibiotics is necessary if the cause of the disease has been ascertained by bacteria. Inappropriate use of antibiotics will lead to antibiotic resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of the community in Tamalanrea District, Tamalanrea Jaya Village in Makassar City about the use of antibiotics. The method used in this research is descriptive, namely research that includes surveys with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires. This research was carried out on Jalan Bung RT 004/RW 001 and the time of the research was carried out in June by distributing questionnaires to 50 respondents or the community according to the criteria. The results of this study indicate that the level of knowledge of the community in Tamalanrea District, Tamalanrea Jaya Village in Makassar City about the use of antibiotics, the percentage of knowledge obtained is 84.7% so that it is included in the category of high knowledge level.

Abstract

Pharmacy is a pharmaceutical service facility where pharmacy practice is carried out by pharmacists as stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 9 of 2017. This study aims to determine the level of application of pharmaceutical service standards and the characteristics of pharmacists that affect pharmaceutical service standards in the field of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices and medical consumables. This type of research is a cross sectional method where this study uses data collection techniques in the form of filling out questionnaires. This research was conducted at Apotek Indah Ayu Farma district. Tamalanrea. The results of this study indicate that at Apotek Indah Ayu Farma the level of application of pharmaceutical service standards in the management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices and medical consumables indicates that every activity carried out at Apotek Indah Ayu Farma has met or is in accordance with Permenkes No. 73 of 2016. And the characteristics of pharmacists do not affect the level of application of pharmaceutical service standards in the management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices and medical consumables.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical services carried out at the (community health centers are one of the efforts to improve the quality of health services for the community. This pharmaceutical service can be supported by good drug management, which is expected to prevent and overcome drug problems, such as problems with expired drug stocks. This problem can cause losses for the Community health centers and the government. This study aims to identify drug management, and determine the factors that cause expired drugs at Cendrawasih Health Center Makassar City. This type of research is a qualitative research. Data were obtained by conducting interviews with an informant and observing and reviewing expired drug stock documents. The results of the study obtained that there were 20 types of drugs that expired from January to June 2021. The causes of expired drugs were the time the drug was brought to the health center close to the drug expiration time, errors in the planning process to distribution of drugs outside the health center for unknown causes so the number of drugs that arrived at the Cendrawasih Health Center did not match the needs, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the community health centers to not be able to carry out counseling and distribution of drugs optimally. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of drug management at the Cendrawasih Health Center has gone well but has not been maximized, besides that factors from outside the community health centers and the Covid-19 pandemic are also factors that cause expired drug stocks.

Abstract

Ethnopharmacy is a combination of disciplines that study the relationship between cultural habits in a community group in terms of its pharmaceutical side. This study aims to obtain information about the ethnopharmaceutical use of medicinal plants based on the types of medicinal plants part of the plant, the benefits of plants, processing methods and the use of medicinal plants used by the people of Lakawali Village, Malili District, East Luwu Regency. This type of research is descriptive observation. The sampling in this study used primary data obtained through interviews with 60 family heads of the people of Lakawli Village, Malili District, East Luwu Regency. The results of this study indicate that there are 33 types of medicinal plants divided into 26 families with 20 types of diseases. The most widely used plant as a medicine is Tappa Lorong/Brotowali which is efficacious as an ulcer medicine. Parts of plants used as medicine by the community include leaves, stems, fruits, flowers, bark, fruit skins, rhizomes, seeds, tubers. The most widely used plant part as medicine is the leaf with a percentage of 46%. The processing method and the use of medicinal plants by the community in Lakawali Village, Malili District, East Luwu Regency, are processed by boiling, pounding, squeezing, burning, and grating. And as for how to use it, namely by drinking, eating, making juice and affixed to the sick part.

Abstract

Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease of the small intestine caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi (S.typhi) which is an endemic systemic infectious disease, which is transmitted through the food or drink consumed. Antibiotics are a group of drugs that are often used today to treat typhoid fever. The purpose of this study was to find out the most antibiotics used for the treatment of typhoid fever in internal care at the Makassar City Hospital, to find out the rational use of antibiotics which includes, the right drug, the right indication, and the right patient. This research is an observational study conducted retrospectively (non-experimentally) and analyzed using descriptive methods. Sampling by purposive sampling method. The study sample was typhoid fever patients who met the inclusion criteria, had no complications and had complete medical record data. The data is compared with the standard of medical treatment at Makassar City Hospital. The results showed that the most use of antibiotics in typhoid fever patients at the Makassar City Hospital's Internal Care for the period January-February 2022 consisted of Ciprofloxacin (50.8%), Ceftriaxone (19.6%), Cefixime (9.8%), Chloramphenicol (6.5%), Cotrimoxazole (6.5%) Levofloxacin (4.9%) cefotaxim (1.6). Evaluation of the use of antibiotics is known to be the right indication (100%), the right drug (100%), the right patient (100%). The high accuracy of the drug, the right indication and the patient's accuracy is because the hospital has used antibiotics that are in accordance with existing guidelines.
