Abstract

Based on the results of the 2020 population census, Indonesia's population is 275 million people. As many as 62.28 percent are productive age. This research will study the relationship between the peak of the demographic dividend and workforce characteristics. Data from the Statistics of Indonesia will be analyzed descriptively related to the data presented in the tables and graphs. The productive age population in Indonesia is more than 90 percent of the working population. This population is a population whose highest education is elementary school graduates and below. This will threaten Indonesia as it approaches the peak of the demographic dividend, expected to occur in 2030. Not only low education workforce but also business fields in the agricultural sector with self-employed status. Characteristics of Indonesia's poor characterize this phenomenon. In Indonesia's poor population, more than 50 percent of education is completed in elementary school and below. In addition, the primary source of income comes from the agricultural sector. To overcome this, the solution is for those with primary education to be forced to continue their formal education. However, training and courses can be provided to enhance their skills. The government also needs to increase employment opportunities for the Indonesian population.

Abstract

Regional disparities are caused by the different development approaches taken in rural and urban areas that must be integrated. The development of rural areas must be followed by the development of inter-village growth centers that connect rural areas with urban areas in an integrated manner. This study aimed to determine the growth centers of rural areas that function as production, processing, marketing, training, and government service centers in rural regions of Cijeruk District. Four aspects determine the center of growth in rural areas: the infrastructure aspect, the social aspect, the physical aspect, and the economic aspect. This research uses scalogram analysis, Hansen analysis, disaster risk analysis, population analysis, and the analytical hierarchy process. The results of the research point to Cijeruk Village as a growth center for rural areas in the Rural Cijeruk District because it is supported by four variables with large values, for instance, public facilities, growth rate, population density, and regional attractiveness.

Abstract

Sragen Regency is one of the areas in Indonesia focusing on stunting alleviation. In 2018, the average prevalence of stunting children in Sragen Regency was 24.3% where this figure was higher than the average prevalence of stunting children in Central Java (20.8%) and also the national average (21.6%) (SSGI Kemenkes RI, 2022). The government has made various efforts to prevent stunting children. However, the prevalence of stunting children in Sragen Regency is still high, so policy innovations are needed to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates. This study uses primary data with data collection methods through surveys and interviews. The sampling technique used systematic random sampling; the data was then analyzed using a quantitative descriptive method and logistic regression. The study's results obtained 73 samples, of which 21 households (28.76%) had children with stunting nutritional status. The prevalence of stunting in children is higher in children whose mothers have education below junior high school, mothers who don't work, have low capita income and are children of male sex. Based on these findings, appropriate and effective interventions are needed according to the determinants of child stunting.

Abstract

Based on the composite food security index, Tulungagung Regency is classified as good or highly resilient to vulnerabilities. However, there are still issues within the institutional framework of Kendalbulur Village, particularly the need for more human resources in village governance. This study aims to illustrate the role of village institutions in managing food security and the strategies for strengthening the governance institutions. Data collection for this research was conducted through document review, interviews, and field observations. The analysis includes an analysis of village potential, village governance institutions, village budget management, regulations, village development, village autonomy, and strategies for strengthening the role of village institutions in improving food security using SWOT analysis and the IFAS-EFAS matrix. The results of this study demonstrate the crucial role of village institutions in managing food security. Furthermore, the Rapid Growth Strategy is the strategy for strengthening the role of Kendalbulur Village institutions in improving food security. Therefore, Kendalbulur Village needs to consistently implement regulations and institutional support to enhance agriculture, fishery, livestock farming, and tourism while maximizing the potential of these sectors.

Abstract

Poverty alleviation is one measure of the success of economic development; therefore, this study analyzes the link between the minimum wage and the poverty rate. This study uses secondary data, which includes poverty rate, regency/city minimum wage, economic growth, unemployment rate, and length of road in the Greater Solo. The study period covers conditions from 2010 to 2020. Secondary data was analyzed using a panel data regression model based on Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square (FMOLS) estimation. Primary data from interviews with some development economists supplement the regression results. Preliminary data analysis utilized the Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC) method to analyze critical variables in poverty alleviation. The results showed increased regency/city minimum wage is followed by decreased poverty. Meanwhile, an increase in the open unemployment rate impacts an increase in the poverty rate. However, economic growth and the road length do not affect the Greater Solo area's poverty level. Furthermore, the results of the MICMAC analysis show a strong influence of the regency/city minimum wage and the open unemployment rate on the poverty rate. Meanwhile, economic growth and road length do not strongly influence the poverty rate.

Abstract

This research proposes a market recognition enhancement of wayang purba, a traditional indigenous performance from Ngebung Village, Sragen Regency, through Geographical Indications (GIs) registration. The research applies qualitative methods to explore the roles of academia, business, government, community, and media using the Institutional Analysis Development (IAD) framework by Elinor Ostrom. The IAD framework delivers the authentic potential of Sragen as a prehistoric site and a part of Central Java with solid roots in wayang performances. On the contrary, the analysis also found that stakeholder support still needed to run partially, overlapping roles that failed to achieve collective efforts in carrying Wayang Purba to gain recognition of GIs. The importance of GIs in increasing market recognition of indigenous art products underlies research suggestions on managing the roles of stakeholders in a more integrated manner. Research recommendations align with previous literature that the GIs scheme is the right step for cultural marketing that needs to be managed collectively. Even so, an in-depth exploration of the duties and functions of each institution still needs to be implemented in future research.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the significant contributors to the regional economy of Pati Regency. However, this sector declined at the growth rate of -0.20% in 2021. One of the reasons is the weak capacity of farmer groups indicated by the main class farmer groups, which only amount to four out of 2,588 groups. Department of Agriculture data shows that the total number of farmer groups is 2,588, divided into 1,612 beginner groups, 830 advanced groups, 78 middle groups, four main groups, and 64 unknown groups. The purpose of the study is to determine the criteria and subcriteria in the management of farmer groups. This quantitative study uses the Analytical Hierarchy Process with 56 respondents. Based on Guidelines for Assessing the Ability of Farmer Groups Classes, farmer group management is influenced by five criteria: planning, developing farmer group leadership, organizing, implementing, and controlling reports. The results showed that the Implementation Criteria prioritize managing farmer groups. Meanwhile, the priority subcriteria in the Implementation Criteria is Business Implementation. One of the implementations is to run the Integrated Farming System (IFS) as part of the Business Implementation subcriteria.

Abstract

Mental health issues have not been a serious concern in the workplace, even though mental health disorders in employees cause a decrease in performance. The main trigger of mental health problems comes from leadership factors. However, research on leadership still suffers from a positive bias. This study aims to analyze the role of leadership on mental health and employee performance while examining the moderating role of work autonomy on the relationship between destructive leadership and mental health. This study examined 207 respondents from public sector organizations and then analyzed them using PLS-SEM with the second-order method. The results of this study indicate that destructive leadership has a positive and significant influence on employee mental health problems. However, mental health problems have a positive effect on performance. In addition, autonomy has no moderating effect on the relationship between destructive leadership and mental health. The results of this study can be used by managerial parties to pay attention to the behavior of leaders periodically and prepare appropriate coping strategies to deal with the mental health of their employees, especially in the long term.

Abstract

The transformation of the global food system affects small-scale farmers in developing countries, especially Indonesia. Although cropping intensity increases, farmers' income tends to decrease and is unstable due to the volatility of commodity prices in global markets. If extension systems continue to adhere to a 20th-century strategy of focusing on staple crops, farmers and extension systems will need to be able to compete effectively with the multinational corporations controlling the food chain. If this continues, national extension systems will likely follow the fate of agricultural extension systems in North America, Europe, and Oceania, which are gradually being streamlined or wholly abolished. This study aims to answer the question: What changes are needed by Indonesia's agricultural extension system to respond to the transformation of the global food system? This research method is a literature review. The research results show that Indonesia's agricultural extension system still has the opportunity to make a significant, long-lasting contribution to improving the income and livelihoods of smallholders. The extension system needs to change its focus, shift to high-value crops, form business groups, become market-based, build social capital, and move to a decentralized extension structure. This 21st-century extension focus is doable but requires strong leadership and commitment.
