Abstract

Delays in delivering goods to consumers via expeditions continue to pose a challenge, leading to inaccuracies in the established delivery schedule. This issue is closely  related to the productivity of couriers and warehouse staff involved in the delivery process. 5S Safety (Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) is recognized as a factor influencing employee productivity. This study examines the relationship between the implementation of 5S Safety and the work productivity of operational workers at JNE Express Jember. This research was designed as a quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. It was conducted at JNE Express Jember in December from October 2022 to May 2023 and involved 74 operational workers as respondents. Respondents were selected using the proportionate random sampling method. Research data were gathered through interviews based on  a questionnaire. The data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman test, and the results were presented in tabular form accompanied by narrative explanations. This study's findings indicate no discernible relationship between individual characteristics (age, education level, and years of service), training, work motivation, and the implementation of 5S Safety concerning  work productivity among JNE Express Jember’s operational workers. Management needs to monitor and evaluate the implementation of 5S Safety, enhance the training provided, and offer motivation and recognition to employees who perform their duties effectively. Employees are also encouraged to take responsibility for diligently applying 5S Safety practices and utilizing the skills and knowledge acquired from their training in their daily work.  Keywords: 5S Safety, courier, expedition, work productivity

Abstract

The Hajj pilgrimage is a highly sought-after act of worship among followers of Islam. The observed increase in the number of Indonesian pilgrims corresponds with the observed increase in the number of pilgrims at risk of death. In 2023, the highest number of deaths in Indonesia occurred at the Surabaya embarkation point. The objective of this study is to identify the factors associated with the death of pilgrims embarking from Surabaya in 2023, based on data from the SISKOHATKES database. A quantitative approach with a retrospective cohort design was employed, analyzing 17,211 pilgrims selected through purposive sampling. Data were assessed using chi-square tests and Cox regression analysis. The findings indicate that age, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus are the most significant factors associated with mortality. These variables showed a statistically significant impact on death, with the following risk ratios: age (p-value = 0.000; RRa = 5.3), hypertension (p-value = 0.000; RRa = 3.7), and diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0.000; RRa = 18.7). The study concludes that age, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus are the primary risk factors for pilgrim mortality from Surabaya in 2023. It is recommended that the Hajj healthcare program adopt a comprehensive strategy encompassing promotive, preventive, curative, and emergency response measures to mitigate these risks.   Keywords: Death, hajj pilgrims, risk factors

Abstract

Pneumonia remains the leading cause of death among children globally. In Indonesia, the prevalence of pneumonia in 2023 was particularly concerning, ranking first among diseases commonly affecting children under five, with a staggering 31.4% of cases. East Java Province reported the highest incidence, accounting for 32.03% or 45,041 affected children. To tackle this pressing issue, advancements in statistical methods, specifically the time series approach, offer valuable tools for prediction. This study employs the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) forecasting method. Conducted as a non-reactive study utilizing secondary data, this research follows a retrospective cohort design, collecting data over a specific timeframe. The SARIMA (0,1,0)(1,1,0, 12) model is suitable for predicting bronchopneumonia cases, as it contains significant parameters and satisfies all necessary assumptions. The predictions generated from this model will extend over the following 12 periods.   Keywords: pneumonia, children, ARIMA, SARIMA

Abstract

Despite the implementation of several tuberculosis (TB) control initiatives, TB continues to be a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in South Africa primarily due to non-compliance with the recommended treatment. The objective of the study was to determine the frequency of non-compliance with treatment and identify the factors linked to non-compliance among tuberculosis patients in the Ekurhuleni South Health Sub-district in South Africa. This study was a quantitative cross-sectional analysis carried out on a sample of 309 patients, utilising an anonymous questionnaire. The data was analysed using Stata version 14. The findings indicated that those who had a sufficient food supply for a period beyond 6 months demonstrated a decreased likelihood of adhering to tuberculosis therapy (odds ratio = -0.12, p < 0.05). Additionally, the study revealed that those who had communicated with their family or friends about their tuberculosis treatment were more inclined to comply with the treatment regimen (OR=0.11; p<0.1). Individuals who were unmarried had a 22% lower likelihood of adhering to medication (OR=0.22; p<0.05). Based on these findings, initiatives designed to enhance adherence to TB treatment in Gauteng Province should implement a comprehensive approach, integrating economic assistance, focused education, and strategies to reduce stigma.  Keywords: Alcohol consumption, scarcity of food, side effects, knowledge

Abstract

Improvements in the quality of inpatient care are needed to reduce overcrowding, increase patient engagement, make care more efficient, and empower patients toward self-care. These improvements can result in better patient outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and more efficient delivery of healthcare. This is a quantitative study involving 98 respondents who have used inpatient services at the Royal Prima Hospital between December 2022 and January 2023. Data collection was based on the Servqual method and Kano models. The analysis results show that the smallest gap score (-0.12) is attributed to the number of medical personnel in the reliability dimension, whereas the largest gap score (0.09) is attributed to the physical appearance of doctors and staff in the tangibles dimension. Of the 23 attributes analyzed, 3 belonged to category A (attractive), 15 belonged to category O (one-dimensional), and 5 belonged to category M (must-be). The main technical responses that need to be addressed to improve service quality are hospital development, increased cooperation, and organizing education and training.
