Abstract

Certification of teachers that has lasted more than a decade aimed to produce professional teachers, thus impacting significantly to the advancement of education in Indonesia. But the reality in Tasikmalaya, West Java, it is very much different from the expectations. The majority of teachers are even more concerned about the increase of social status than the professional quality as an educator. More recently the government has implemented Teacher Competency Test (UKG), which was held simultaneously throughout Indonesia with the aim to determine the ability of teachers’ pedagogical and professional competencies. The purpose of this study was to determine the mapping of the teachers’ competency by rank, domain competence, academic qualification, age, gender, and see the difference in results UKG based certification status. Outputs resulting from this study were (1) to map the results UKG mathematics of junior high school in Tasikmalaya, (2) to formulate recommendations or proposals regarding the improvement of the UKG (3) to formulate recommendations or proposals of the sustainable planning of professional development for teachers. The method used in this research were studied documentation, interviews and questionnaires open. The mapping of UKG results can be used as consideration in evaluating the program especially in what improvements need to be prioritised. By using the techniques of interviews and open questionnaire, was expected collect information of the effect of UKG for the teachers.

Abstract

Mathematics is a very important lesson given to all learners, given the development of increasingly modern technology that is in dire need of human humans to have the ability to think critically, logically and systematically.Mathematics courses need to be given to all learners to equip learners with logical, analytical, systematic, critical, and creative thinking skills. This study was conducted in order to determine the effect of critical thinking ability on student learning outcomes in the subjects of mathematics class VIII SMP 1 Sumbergempol. The method used in this research is the quantitative method. The population used in this study is class VIII SMP 1 Sumbergempol, while the sample taken is a student class VIII C amounted to 20 students. The instrument used to obtain the data in this study is a matter of description test, which amounted to 2 questions. The technique of collecting data with observation, test, and documentation. Research results obtained t count value is greater than the value t table (t count = 5.173  ³  t table = 2.101), thus Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. It is evident that critical thinking has a significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes. From a result of data analysis obtained r value equal to 0,598. While the contribution of critical thinking to the result of learning mathematics is equal to 59,8% and the rest equal to 40,2% determined by other factors. The simple regression equation is: Y = 67,032 + 0,341X. The constant of 67,032 states that if the value of critical thinking is 0, then the ability to solve the student math problem is 67.032. The regression coefficient of 0.341 states that any addition of 1% value on critical thinking will improve the mathematics learning outcome of 0.341.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the increasements of mathematical creative thinking abilities of secondary school student after learning through cooperative learning Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD). This study used the quasi-experimental design with a control group, not equivalent. The study involved an experimental class given STAD cooperative learning assisted Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP) and the control class was only given expository learning. Instruments used a set of mathematical creative thinking tests and questionnaires attitudes. The results showed that the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability can be improved through STAD cooperative learning STAD assisted Geometer’s Sketchpad.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical communication and mathematical problem-solving ability to learners after using the learning model Logan Avenue Problem Solving (LAPS) -Heuristic and correlation between mathematical communication ability with mathematical problem solving ability to learners using model of learning LAPS-Heuristic. The population of the study were students of class VII of SMP Negeri 8 Tasikmalaya. Samples were taken one class at random and the selected ones were class VII I. Data collection techniques used were the provision of mathematical communication ability test and mathematical problem solving ability. Statistical analysis used is hypothesis test. The results of the analysis show the mathematical communication ability of the learners through the learning model LAPS–Heuristic baik and mathematical problem solving ability of learners through LAPS-Heuristic less good model. There is a correlation between mathematical communication ability with problem solving ability of mathematic learners using learning model LAPS-Heuristic.Keywords: Mathematical Communication, Mathematical Problem Solving, Logan Learning Model Avenue Problem Solving (LAPS) -Heuristic.

Abstract

This research aims to know the improvement of students’s mathematical representastion skill Bette beetwen using PBL Model helped geogebra software media and using PBL model without helped geogebra software media.The method is experiment method. The population were all of the tenth grade mathematic and nature students of  Senior High School 1 Tasikmalaya using 2013 Curiculum with scientific approach. The sample of this research was randomly selected, two classes of the population, X MIA 4 as experiment class and X MIA 5 as control class. The result of this research is (1) the improvement of the students’s mathematical representation skill using PBL model helped by geogebra software media is not better than or equal with those using PBL model without helped by geogebra software media; and (2) the students’ motivation of study during following lesson using PBL model helped geogebra software media were in medium criteria.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills of learners are one of the achievements of the curriculum that must be possessed by learners in math learning. This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical communication skills of better learners who use Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model by using direct learning model. Creative Problem solving (CPS) model is used as a learning model in this research to improve students' mathematical communication ability. Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model builds learners more active, creative and skilled in solving problems compared to direct learning models. The research was conducted on the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Kota Tasikmalaya on the material to build the space side of flat by using experimental research method. Two classes were taken as samples, experiment class using Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model and control class using direct learning. Data collection techniques used in the form of test students' mathematical communication skills through pre test and post-test by using statistical analysis of normalized gain. The result of improvement of mathematic communication ability of students using Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model is better than using direct learning model.

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research is to know about the application of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Square type on the material of three-dimensional space (cube) in improving student achievement of class X SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. The subjects of this study involved 38 students of grade X.8 SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. Implementation of this research begins with the test then continued with two cycles of action. Each cycle is done by stages: planning, action implementation, observation/evaluation, and reflection. Data analysis technique used by descriptively qualitative which include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion or verification. Based on the research data, it is found that the learning completeness data on the initial test is 3.23%, the first cycle is 66.67%, and the second cycle is 89.19%. Because of the classical learning completeness criteria set at 75%, it can be concluded that the use of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Square type can improve mathematics learning achievement in students of grade X.8 SMA Negeri 1 Baubau.

Abstract

Aljabar merupakan untaian paling abstrak dalam matematika, hal ini menyebabkan peserta didik sering kali melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal mengenai materi aljabar. Kesalahan tersebut dapat diminimalisir dengan terlebih dahulu mengetahui sejauh mana kemampuan atau pengetahuan yang dimiliki peserta didik melalui analisis proses berpikir peserta didik saat memecahkan suatu masalah.. Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan kepada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Islam Al-Azhar 30 Kota Tasikmalaya dengan memberikan tes berupa soal pemecahan masalah sebanyak 2 soal, peserta didik mengalami asimilasi prosedural pada tahap memahami masalah, dimana peserta didik mampu menyebutkan semua informasi yang terdapat dalam soal. Peserta didik mengalami akomodasi konseptual pada tahap membuat rencana, dimana peserta didik melakukan kesalahan dalam mengubah informasi dalam soal ke dalam bentuk aljabar dengan membuat model matematika dan melakukan perhitungan penjumlahan pada suku yang tak sejenis. Peserta didik mengalami akomodasi prosedural pada tahap melaksanakan rencana, dimana peserta didik melakukan kesalahan yang diakibatkan kesalahan konseptual sebelumnya. Peserta didik tidak melakukan tahap memeriksa kembali jawaban yang telah didapat.Kata kunci: kesalahan, pemecahan masalah, aljabar

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of learning motivation of students by school background on student achievement; Motivation to learn students graduate high school on student achievement; The motivation of student learning vocational graduates on student achievement. The learning achievement in the subjects studied Calculus 3. Before the questionnaire given to students with a background in high school and vocational school, the questionnaire beforehand on the validity and reliability. The study population was all students of mathematics education class of 2014/2015 which followed Calculus 3. Samples were taken vocational school graduates and high school graduates. The method used is multiple linear regression. Results obtained by analysis that there is no contribution of motivation to learn by school background on student achievement; Student learning motivation of high school graduates do not contribute to the achievement of students; Motivation to learn student vocational school graduates do not contribute to the achievement of students. Abstract

The aim of the study was to obtain data and empirical information about the differences in students’ mathematics learning outcomes in grade-XI who were taught by drill and expository method. The samples were chosen by simple random sampling technique to be grouped into experiment and control class, each class consisted of 30 students. The experiment class was treated by drill method and the control class by the expository method. Thirty multiple choices were used as the instruments. The test of validity and reliability of the instrument stated that the instruments were fit for use. Based on the data analysis by t-test, it was concluded that there were differences between mathematics learning outcomes of students who was treated by drill method and expository method. The result of this research showed that mathematics learning outcomes of students who was treated by drill method were higher than expository method.
