Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to enhance the orientation and mobility skills of blind students at SLB Tanjung Morawa in 2024. Visual impairments significantly impact the ability of blind children to navigate their surroundings, leading to limitations in orientation and mobility. As an intervention, soccer was utilized as an active movement strategy to stimulate physical engagement and improve students’ spatial awareness, ultimately fostering greater independence in daily activities. Materials and Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. The research subjects comprised six blind students with low vision characteristics, selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria, including the degree of blindness and initial mobility competence. Data collection involved standardized orientation and mobility assessments conducted before and after the intervention. The soccer-based intervention was implemented through structured training sessions. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical methods, specifically the sign test, to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention in enhancing students’ orientation and mobility skills. Results: The findings indicate a significant improvement in the orientation and mobility skills of blind students following the intervention. Pre-test scores ranged from 42 to 75, whereas post-test scores increased to a range of 67 to 90. Statistical analysis revealed a Z_H value of 2.05, exceeding the critical value at the 5% significance level (Z_H = +1.96), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. These results confirm that soccer-based intervention has a statistically significant positive impact on the orientation and mobility skills of blind students. Conclusions: The study concludes that soccer-based interventions significantly enhance the orientation and mobility abilities of blind students at SLB Tanjung Morawa. This method presents a viable alternative in special education curricula to improve movement and spatial navigation skills in visually impaired children. Future research should explore the long-term effects of soccer-based training on orientation and mobility development, as well as investigate the integration of other sports-based activities that may yield similar benefits. Additionally, expanding the study to include a larger and more diverse sample, incorporating various age groups and degrees of visual impairment, would provide more comprehensive insights into the efficacy of this approach.

Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to ascertain how training in eye-hand coordination affects the accuracy of boccia ball throws in BC1, BC4, and BC5 categories. This study specifically aims to ascertain the extent to which training in eye-hand synchronization improves ball throw accuracy. Material and Methods : Using an experimental approach and a one-group pre-test and post-test design, this study was carried out between November and December of 2024. Eleven individuals made up the research sample. An initial test prior to therapy and a final test following treatment were among the research tools. The t-test, which compares the computed t-value with the t-table at a significance level of 0.05, was the analysis method employed. Results: The average difference (M) = 2.54, standard deviation (SDD) = 1, and standard error of the mean difference (SEMD) = 0.32 are the findings of the first and final test computations. At a significance threshold of 0.05, additional computations reveal that the t-count value = 3.32 and the t-table value = 1.81. Conclusion: The alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted while the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected since the t-count value is higher than the t-table. The accuracy of boccia ball throws in categories BC1, BC4, and BC5 at the DKI Jakarta Boccia Club is therefore impacted by eye-hand coordination training. To compare the efficacy of this training with alternative approaches, more study can be done by including a control group. Furthermore, a more thorough comprehension of how this training affects athlete performance can be obtained by analyzing the biomechanical components of boccia throwing techniques.

Abstract

Objectives. This study aims to address the difficulties in underhand serving by improving students’ underhand serve ability through training with rubber balls. The research focuses on fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sangubanyu during the 2024/2025 academic year in volleyball learning sessions. Material and Methods. This research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection instruments include tests and observations. The study population comprises all 13 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sangubanyu, consisting of 9 boys and 4 girls. Data analysis was conducted by reflecting on the observations and evaluations of the learning process, with a quantitative approach providing numerical results. Results. The data analysis revealed an improvement in learning outcomes over two cycles. The mastery learning rate in the first cycle was 14.28%, while in the second cycle, it increased significantly to 71.57%. Conclusion. The findings indicate that utilizing rubber balls in underhand serve training can assist educators in determining effective teaching methods to enhance students’ learning outcomes in volleyball, particularly at the elementary school level. However, the study faced certain limitations, as only 4 students achieved mastery in the initial observation, while 9 students did not. To address this, rubber balls were introduced as an alternative learning aid, making the learning process more engaging and improving students' understanding of the fundamental serve motion. Additionally, time constraints limited the ability to observe long-term progress comprehensively. This study solely focused on underhand serve skills without addressing other aspects of volleyball. The findings serve as a reference for designing more effective and enjoyable learning programs, facilitating students’ comprehension of basic serving techniques. Future researchers are encouraged to further develop this method using other assistive tools, while PE teachers may adopt or modify this approach with various instructional adaptations
