Abstract

This study examines solutions to address gadget addiction among children and adolescents in rural areas through traditional games characteristic of North Sumatra Province, such as Rimau Langkat, kite flying, stick fighting, and marbles. The research was conducted in Perlis Village, Berandan Barat District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research method used is qualitative, through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation study. The findings show that children and adolescents in the village have begun to be affected by gadget addiction, although not all of them are influenced by gadgets. The study in Perlis Village shows that they successfully overcame gadget addiction through traditional games, which managed to divert their attention from excessive gadget use. Traditional games like Rimau Langkat, kite flying, stick fighting, and marbles not only succeeded in reducing gadget dependence but also improved physical skills, social interaction, and a sense of togetherness among children. The phenomenon of gadget addiction, which initially led to decreased participation in social activities such as communal prayers and religious studies, now shows a positive change as children begin to interact directly and engage more actively in outdoor activities. This study refutes the argument that children and adolescents today are difficult to separate from gadgets, as they are considered part of their development and culture. This study concludes that children and adolescents can still be saved from the dangers of gadget addiction and that the local wisdom of rural communities can address the negative impacts of modernity, even though they do not reject it.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the first movement of the Piano Concerto in F-Sharp Minor by Paul Johan Seelig, focusing on the relationship between Western classical music and the music of the Dutch East Indies during the 1910s–1930s through Édouard Glissant’s concept of rhizomatic identity. The research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including archival studies and literature reviews. Analysis was conducted using Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic approach, encompassing the study of the work’s background, structure, and appropriation in a broader context. The findings reveal that the first movement of the Piano Concerto in F-Sharp Minor reflects a hybrid cultural identity that integrates Western classical music idioms with local musical elements from the Dutch East Indies, such as the adaptation of the Lagoe Soenda melody into patterns resembling gamelan. This transformation reflects a respect for local culture rooted in Nusantara traditions while simultaneously reinterpreting it within the framework of Western classical music. The work not only represents artistic dynamics but also serves as a socio-cultural document illustrating power relations and intercultural dialogue in the colonial context. Seelig highlighted local themes to bridge cultural gaps, showcasing the potential of local music as a medium equal to Western musical traditions. The study’s findings reveal that cultural identity in Seelig’s work is not static but emerges as the dynamic interaction between two distinct traditions. This approach contrasts with other colonial composers, such as Claude Debussy, who tended to adopt aesthetic impressions without retaining local themes. This research contributes to expanding the understanding of socio-cultural relations through colonial music and underscores the significance of music as a medium that can represent social dynamics, identity, and power during the colonial era. Beyond its theoretical contributions, the study offers a new perspective on hybrid music and cultural appropriation. This approach is relevant for fostering awareness of the importance of intercultural dialogue in the arts while demonstrating how music can serve as a tool for bridging cultural differences and transcending colonial hierarchies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors causing work stress, its impact on employee well-being and productivity, and the coping strategies implemented at the Regional Revenue Agency (Badan Pendapatan Daerah, BAPENDA) of North Sumatra Province. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach to understand the dynamics of work stress and a quantitative approach to measure the prevalence of stress-causing factors. The findings show that work stress arises not only from internal factors, such as high workloads and interpersonal conflicts, but also from structural weaknesses, such as unrealistic targets, delayed payment of allowances, and inadequate workplace facilities. Problem-focused coping strategies, such as work planning and social support, were found to be more effective in reducing long-term stress than emotion-focused strategies, such as relaxation and meditation, which only provide temporary benefits. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of the Demand-Control Model and Coping Theory by highlighting the importance of the interaction between internal and external factors in influencing work stress in the government sector. The combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches offers a comprehensive methodology for understanding this phenomenon. The practical implications of this research include recommendations to improve administrative systems, create supportive work environments, and promote problem-focused coping strategies to enhance employee well-being and sustain organizational productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Family Hope Program (PKH) in Sei Lumut Village, North Sumatra Province, with a focus on its impact on community welfare, obstacles faced in program implementation, and social inequality that arises among the community. In addition, this study also aims to identify strategies that can be used to optimize the effectiveness of the PKH program in reducing social inequality in the village. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The research findings show that the social inequality that is created is not only caused by miscommunication, but also by the lack of mechanisms that allow for adjustments to the socio-economic status of recipients of the Family Hope Program assistance. Irregular data updates exacerbate this gap, while unclear communication causes confusion among beneficiaries. This study contributes to understanding how better data management and communication can improve the effectiveness of PKH and reduce social inequality in the community. Therefore, aid management must improve the data management system and strengthen coordination between stakeholders, as well as improve socialization to aid recipients to be more effective

Abstract

This study aims to analyze feminist values in literature during the Abbasid era, particularly in the representation of women in the poem "Quluubu An-Nisaai Sakhurun" by Abbas bin Ahnaf. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques that include literature reviews and analysis of relevant documents. The study identifies that feminism in this work is evident through the depiction of women as objects of admiration while simultaneously portraying them as complex characters. Social and cultural factors, such as patriarchy, shape how women are represented in this poem, reflecting the norms prevailing during that period. This study contributes by highlighting the relevance of feminist perspectives in understanding classical literature and providing insights into the relationship between social structures and literary creation.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of digital da'wah in Indonesia using the theoretical framework of Fisher and Rinehart's Living Religions. The research applies a qualitative method through online observations and literature reviews. The findings reveal that digital da'wah has successfully created new spaces for the dissemination of Islam by adopting a more inclusive approach and adapting to technological advancements. Contrary to previous assumptions that Islam would lag behind modernity, this study demonstrates that Islamic preaching in the digital world enriches perspectives on religious teachings and enables Islamic messages to reach diverse audiences, particularly younger generations. However, this study also highlights the challenges that arise due to the lack of caution in delivering da'wah content, which can lead to controversy in the digital sphere. This research contributes to the development of a digital da'wah concept that responds to contemporary changes and emphasizes the importance of ethics in spreading religious messages online. Furthermore, it provides new insights into how Islamic da'wah can persist and evolve in the digital era without losing its core teachings

Abstract

This study aims to critically review the policies for enhancing adolescent resilience in preventing drug abuse in Indonesia to address the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among adolescents. The research employs a qualitative approach with data collection methods including literature review and interviews, and uses Nvivo 15 software to organize, code, and analyze the data. The results show that the current policies implemented by the government focus more on interventions aimed at adolescents' internal factors than on external factors. This situation prevents the issue of rising drug abuse among adolescents from being effectively addressed, as the main factors of vulnerability and resilience strengthening lie in external factors. This study contributes by expanding the theory that can be used in policy formulation to improve adolescents' resilience in preventing drug abuse. Additionally, the study enriches the literature on the importance of strengthening support from adolescents' external environments to help them cope with vulnerabilities and enhance their resilience in preventing drug abuse.
