Abstract

A free software for digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) image anonymization is needed to protect patient information from third parties. This study aimed to develop a software for the anonymization of patient information in computed tomography (CT) image. There was a total of 17 informations to be anonymized, such as Patient’s Name, Other Patient Names, Patient’s ID, Patient’s Birth Date, Patient’s Sex, Patient’s Age, Study ID, Study Description, Series Description, Institution Name, Institution Adress, Referring Phisician’s Name, Consulting Physician’s Name, Performing Physician’s Name, Name of Physician(s) Reading Study, Operator’s Name, and Protocol Name. In every information, its initial value was replaced with a dummy value with the string value of "N/A". For testing, patient CT images from four different hospitals with different scanners were collected. It is found that each scanner had different information stored in DICOM information. However, the anonymization process in the four hospitals works well with accuracy of 100%. The developed software can anonymize DICOM images flexibly and successfully. This software can be used for anonymization of patient information in order to protect patient information.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the views and approaches of the public to the COVID-19 vaccination in Turkey. We conducted a descriptive study using the data collection method which is among quantitative research methods and the screening technic for analysis. The data collection method for the study was an online survey. The 38.4% of participants stated they would consider getting vaccinated, 50.6% stated they were undecided, and 11% stated they would not consider getting vaccinated. There was also a significant correlation between the participants' desire to be vaccinated and their educational level, age, and socioeconomic status. The belief that being diagnosed with COVID-19 creates stigmatization/labeling in society, as well as the belief that the vaccine will have serious side effects, reduce the possibility of getting vaccinated. The study also found that there is a positive correlation between the belief that the vaccine can defeat the virus and the possibility of getting vaccinated. Understanding the causes and effects of vaccine hesitancy and rejection is essential for developing effective immunization programs. Policy makers should inform the public to increase the trust in the vaccine and dispel the misinformation and rumors about COVID-19.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) and its associated complications present a major health problem for the Thai people, including Buddhist monks. This study aimed to identify the influence of behavioural and genetic variables on the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in middle-aged monks of Thailand. The study analyzed data from the health data centre of the Department of Public Health, Thailand, focusing on middle-aged monks in 76 provinces across 12 regions. The study recruited 6,408 Thai monks who met inclusion and exclusion criteria between October 2015-November 2019. Multivariable analysis was performed using a generalized linear mixed model, with adjusted odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals reported at a significance level of 0.05. Our study found that among the middle-aged monks of Thailand, 7.12% (95% CI: 6.49-7.78) had diabetes mellitus out of a total of 6,408. The results of our multivariable analysis showed that the following factors were associated with diabetes mellitus in monks of Thailand: respondents’ body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m2 (AOR=4.26, 95% CI: 3.08-5.90, p-value <0.001), respondents with a family history of DM (AOR=3.37, 95% CI: 2.52-4.81, p-value<0.001), and respondent’s age ranges of 55-59 (AOR=2.87, 95% CI: 2.26-3.84, p-value<0.001), respectively. Diabetes millatus is significantly associated with the respondents who were obese, aged, and had a family history of DM. Therefore, a regular DM screening program as well as a timely health monitoring system for monks will enhance the diabetes control program in reducing the DM burden in Thailand.

Abstract

Working as a teacher significantly impacts mental health, both psychological well-being and psychological distress. This study examines the effect of working as a teacher on mental health. A mixed-method sequential explanatory design was chosen because it aims to test theories and provide detailed explanations for the results. Quantitative data were collected from 153 primary school teachers in East Java, and qualitative data were collected from 12 teachers who were purposively selected as interview subjects. The data were collected through interviews and four psychological scales (work commitment, engagement, job satisfaction, and mental health). Statistical inferential analysis and thematic analysis were used to analyse the data. The analyses showed that teachers’ jobs affected their mental health in terms of psychological well-being and psychological distress. Work commitment effected on mental health R=.653, R2=.426 p<.001; work engagements effected on mental health R=.479, R2=.230 p<.001; and job satisfaction effected on mental health R=.668, R2=.446 p<.001. The findings suggest that teachers’ mental health can be strengthened through their attitudes and behaviours towards work.

Abstract

Environmental factors such as sanitation and hygiene, drinking water sources, quality of drinking water, and ownership of latrines are indirect factors causing stunting. This study aims to analyze the distribution of stunting and environmental sanitation factors that cause stunting in Dairi District, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The case-control design was carried out with 172 toddlers. The distribution pattern of stunting and the association of patient characteristics and environmental risk factors was carried out using the Geographic Information System. Data on healthy clean-living behavior was collected using a questionnaire, and microbiological laboratory tests measured water quality. The spatial analysis uses an average nearest-neighbor overlay. The association of characteristics and risk factors with the incidence of stunting was analyzed using chi-square and logistic regression. The average nearest neighbor analysis shows that the nearest neighbor index is 0.19 ( 0.05) are unrelated to stunting. The pattern of distribution of cases tended to be in clusters, and no relationship was found between population density and the incidence of stunting. The findings of this study provide a new understanding that health promotion to prevent stunting does not only focus on fulfilling nutrition but also on healthy clean-living behavior and water quality.

Abstract

The outcomes of an initial research on eye fatigue in the Digital Industry in Yogyakarta, Indonesia revealed that 76% of the employees encountered complaints of eye fatigue as a result of prolonged computer usage. Eye fatigue is considered one of the parameters of office ergonomics in accordance with Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation No. 48 of 2016. One method recommended by this regulation to mitigate eye fatigue is to incorporate short breaks using the 20-20-20 technique. However, a considerable number of workers tend to disregard these recommendations, necessitating the use of media reminders, such as timers, to enforce discipline among workers. The objective of this research was to assess the impact of employing a timer-based media using the 20-20-20 method on the reduction of eye fatigue. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. In this research, a total of forty workers were selected as the sample population and subsequently divided into two groups: the intervention group and the control group. Sampling was conducted to select a total of 20 workers for each group through purposive sampling. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Sign test and Mann-Whitney test, with a significance threshold of 95% (α=0.05). The results of the statistical tests conducted in both the intervention and control groups revealed a significant difference in reducing eye fatigue, with a p-value of 0.041. This research concludes that the utilization of the 20-20-20 method timer media has a significant effect on reducing eye fatigue among workers.

Abstract

Childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment can have a negative impact, not only on the child but also on the parents. the study aims to systematically summarize the effectiveness of resilience-based interventions in parents of children with cancer. A systematic review was conducted on eight studies that met the eligibility criteria. Article searches were conducted using the PICO framework through six databases PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Proquest, WoS, and Clinical Key. The literature search followed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Article searches were limited to publication years ranging from 2019 to 2023 using the keywords "resilience" "intervention" and "parents of children with cancer" and only in english. Studies have shown that interventions can improve parental resilience, reduce psychological distress, improve family functioning, and improve quality of life. These interventions also reduce parental hopelessness and improve coping. These outcomes are crucial for parents of cancer children to be resilient and adaptable, enabling them to support their children during treatment and care. The choice of intervention programs and approaches may vary depending on the needs of the parents. Therefore, the results of this literature review can be the basis for determining the approach used in providing nursing interventions aimed at helping parents of cancer children adapt to difficult situations.

Abstract

The Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey 2022 reported that the prevalence of stunted children in South Nias, a district in North Sumatera, was 27.2%, higher than the regional and national prevalence of stunting. Stunting can be caused by many factors including maternal nutritional status, exclusive breastfeeding, and inadequate food intake. This research aims is to analyze the relationship between maternal factors and cases of stunting in children under two years at Somambawa Community Health Center, South Nias Regency. It was a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. Using a total sampling technique, 72 mothers with children under two years were included in the study. Exact fisher statistical and logical regression tests were carried out in bivariate and multivariate analyses. This study found that there was a significant relationship between antenatal care visits (p-value=0.000) and exclusive breastfeeding (p-value=0.000) with stunting in children under two years old. Exclusive breastfeeding was the most dominant predictor of stunting in the study, namely 84 times (p-value=0.000; OR 84.00). Meanwhile, complementary feeding and knowledge did not show a significant relationship with stunting. Therefore, health education to provide information and knowledge about stunting, especially about exclusive breastfeeding and complementary food for babies is suggested.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant health problem worldwide, including in Vietnam, where around 174,000 newly diagnosed cases and 13,200 patients died in 2018. There are challenges in the diagnostic process, treatment, and follow-up. The physicians with knowledge of TB working at commune health stations play an essential role in this struggle. The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate knowledge of TB and related factors among physicians working at community health stations in the Northern provinces of Vietnam. A cross-sectional survey was implemented on 335 physicians working at community health stations in 5 Northern provinces in Vietnam from September 2019 to October 2020. The result showed that the TB knowledge of physicians was not good. There were some severe knowledge gaps concerning at-risk groups, the main symptoms of TB, sputum tests for both diagnosis and follow-up and management of attack therapy. The TB training participants had better TB knowledge than others (aOR=1.68; 95%CI: 1.047-2.712). This study underlines the importance of clinical experience and TB training to TB knowledge. We suggest that a TB training plan is required for physicians. Our survey results could inform the process of defining the physicians who work at community health stations' role in TB management in the future.
