Abstract

The quality of pond water is an important factor in ensuring the health and sustainability of the organisms within it. Internet of Things (IoT) technology has enabled the development of sophisticated and effective monitoring systems to monitor water quality in real-time. One important parameter that needs to be monitored is the temperature of the pond water, as unstable temperatures can harm aquatic organisms. To obtain good quality and disease-free fish at normal times, the optimal temperature for catfish fry is around 28˚C - 30˚C. Manual monitoring or using thermometer measuring instruments is still very traditional and limited to the ability of supervisors to carry out continuous monitoring and may cause delays in detecting significant temperature changes. This research aims to analyze the monitoring system of pool water quality based on temperature by utilizing IoT technology. The proposed system uses a DS18B20 temperature sensor that is wirelessly connected to the IoT network. The temperature data collected in real time will be uploaded to Firebase for storage and further analysis. Through the development of this IoT-based pond water quality monitoring system, it is expected to increase efficiency and reliability in monitoring pond water quality. From the monitoring conducted for approximately 24 hours, the temperature in the fishpond is 28°-30°. After analyzing with direct monitoring, the good temperature is at night at 18.00-00.00 WIB. In conjunction with a standard thermometer, resulted in an average temperature sensor error rate of less than 5%, highlighting the reliability of the IoT technology in real-time environmental monitoring.

Abstract

Online learning methods are still the main way to access learning resources. The SPADA UPI platform is essential in supporting the academic and non-academic activities of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. In supporting these activities, user experience must also be considered when using online learning platforms. The results of the user experience survey of UPI students stated that all aspects assessed, such as attractiveness, perspicuity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation and novelty, responded poorly. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to redesign the SPADA UPI website to make it an intuitive website. In designing an intuitive website, a design thinking approach is used with output as a prototype of the SPADA UPI website. The User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) is a user experience evaluation tool that outputs quantitative values. Comparing the UEQ results of the SPADA UPI website and the SPADA UPI website prototype will help determine whether the website prototype design provides a better user experience. The initial UEQ results that have been carried out and compared with the results of the prototype test of the SPADA UPI website show a good increase in value. With initial UEQ results averaging poor or less than 0.8, they improve by providing a score of more than 0.8 or excellent. Therefore, the design thinking approach is beneficial for designing an intuitive product that produces a better user experience.

Abstract

In this era, digital transformation in business is increasing. One of the businesses that participated in the transformation and was studied in this research is Sabrina Store, which sells groundfish through its website, Ikan Giling Segar. Even so, challenges arise related to website design that is not optimal. This research is included in the Research and Development (R&D) research type. It uses design thinking methods to improve the appearance of the website design so that user interest also increases. Data were collected through questionnaires and related literature. Pre-questionnaires and questionnaires were conducted after the redesign using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) method with respondents from potential users in East Java, as well as usability testing of the redesigned prototype. Results showed that five aspects of UEQ were below average before the redesign. However, after the redesign, all aspects improved. Usability and UEQ testing also showed that the redesign improved user interest and experience. Thus, using design thinking and R&D methods can provide holistic solutions to improve the UI / UX of online business websites with positive results.

Abstract

ICT vocational skills subject at Special Junior High School did not have a learning book for special need students. As a result, the students who have intellectual disabilities have many problems to learn independently. This condition also impacted on student learning outcomes that did not reach the targeted competencies. The purpose of this research is to produce a project-based ICT vocational skills book for Special Junior High School that is valid, practical and effective for learning uses. This study uses research and development (R&D) method with 4D model through Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The data were collected using a questionnaire and one group pre-test and post-test design. The results of the study, it concluded that the project-based ICT vocational skills book for Special Junior High School is feasible, very practical and effective for learning use.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this research is the vulnerability of servers to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which lead to disruptions, financial losses, and the loss of user trust due to frequent downtime. To mitigate this issue, a cost-effective solution utilizing Nginx reverse proxy servers was proposed. This research aimed to enhance server resilience against DDoS threats while minimizing operational costs. The primary contribution of this study is the introduction of an innovative approach to DDoS mitigation, emphasizing practical implementation steps. The methodology involved configuring a public server with Nginx and DDoS protection capabilities alongside setting up a private server in an office environment. A reverse proxy using Nginx was deployed to filter incoming traffic and counter DDoS attacks. The main outcomes of the research demonstrate successful mitigation of DDoS attacks, significantly reducing their impact on the private server. Testing on both Layers 3 and Layer 4 confirmed the effectiveness of the approach. The methodology's emphasis on practical implementation steps ensures seamless integration into existing infrastructure. In conclusion, this research offers a practical and budget-friendly solution for organizations seeking to enhance their resilience against DDoS threats. By leveraging Nginx reverse proxy servers, servers lacking dedicated protection can effectively safeguard against DDoS attacks, highlighting the importance of proactive measures in cybersecurity.

Abstract

The integration of AI-based chatbots as virtual tutors in basic programming education addresses the challenges posed by the diverse backgrounds of students and the complexity of the course material. This integration aims to provide personalized assistance and explanations tailored to individual student needs and understanding levels. The research methodology employed in this study adopts a Research and Design (RnD) approach, utilizing the 4D development model, which encompasses the stages of Definition, Design, Development, and Deployment. Through this methodology, the study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the chatbot in enhancing students' learning experiences. The results of the study indicate a significant increase in students' self-learning activities, as evidenced by a score of 79.4% in the "Very Good" category in the Likert scale evaluation. This suggests that the integration of AI technology in basic programming education holds great potential for enhancing accessibility and effectiveness in learning, while also enriching students' learning experiences by providing adaptive and personalized learning resources. Overall, the findings underscore the importance of leveraging AI technology to address the challenges faced in programming education, thereby fostering a more inclusive and effective learning environment

Abstract

This study evaluates factors influencing career choice decisions among high school students in Thai Nguyen province through statistical analysis. Results indicate that crucial factors affecting these decisions include labor market needs, career counseling, family influence, university factors, and personal preferences. Exploratory factor analysis identifies 5 significant factors, explaining 73.68% of data variance. Strong positive correlations are observed between career decisions and factors such as labor market needs, career counseling, family, university factors, and personal preferences. Additionally, a linear regression model predicts that labor market demand, career counseling, and university factors positively and significantly influence career choices, while personal and family influences show weaker correlations. Practical implications of this research include assisting educational institutions, families, and students in comprehending career decisions and formulating effective support strategies.

Abstract

The research is centered around the implementation of an IoT-based water quality monitoring system for Pearl catfish ponds. This system uses ThingSpeak server to monitor pH, turbidity, temperature, and ammonia levels to maintain ideal conditions for fish growth. Data is processed using fuzzy logic. The results are sent in real time to the ThingSpeak server for continuous monitoring. The overarching goal of this system is to optimize production efficiency and improve the quality of fish for catfish farmers. The research has successfully developed an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system for catfish ponds, demonstrating the positive impact of probiotics on both water quality and fish growth. Notably, Fishpond A, which received probiotic treatment, demonstrated notably superior water quality in comparison to Pond B without probiotics. Additionally, fuzzy logic testing indicated a high degree of accuracy, underscoring the system's effectiveness in real-time water condition monitoring.

Abstract

The study aims to create a digital mail management system, known as SMART, to address the inefficiencies of the current manual letter archiving system at the Malang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office. The existing system, which relies on Microsoft Excel, is time-consuming and prone to errors. This leads to difficulties in searching for specific letter scans and the potential loss of hard-file archives. The SMART system, designed using the Waterfall Method and the CodeIgniter framework, is a web-based information system that allows the management of incoming, outgoing, and internal letters in a digital format. The system includes features such as inserting, updating, and deleting letters, as well as uploading scanned letter files. According to the System Usability Scale (SUS) test results, the SMART application is highly usable, with an average score of 93.50, which exceeds the benchmark of 68. The implementation of SMART is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the administration section's document archiving process, enhancing the accessibility and management of letter archives at the Malang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office.

Abstract

Software development has significantly transformed in recent years, with organizations increasingly turning to cloud computing infrastructure to speed up and ease the development and implementation processes. Up until now, there are few studies testing the efficiency and performance of deployment automation using Google Cloud Deployment Manager, which is essentially a built-in infrastructure deployment service provided by Google Cloud Platform. Most studies tend to prefer using open-source software such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes. This research aims to compare the implementation of deployment automation using Google Cloud Deployment Manager and Terraform. Three parameters are used to compare the results of automation deployment implementation: deployment efficiency, website performance, and cost efficiency. The test results indicate that Google Cloud Deployment Manager outperforms Terraform in all three test parameters. Specifically, Google Cloud Deployment Manager demonstrated superior deployment efficiency, enhanced website performance, and better cost efficiency. Thus, it is concluded that Google Cloud Deployment Manager is a more effective solution for deployment automation compared to Terraform.
