Abstract

The implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) in madrasas is often perceived as an administrative requirement, so it has not been fully developed into a sustainable quality culture. This condition requires leadership that integrates Islamic values, quality governance, and institutional sustainability. This study aims to analyze Islamic leadership strategies in implementing SPMI to support the sustainability of MI Miftahul Akhlaqiyah Semarang. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving the head of madrasah, deputy head, SPMI team, teachers, administrative staff, foundation representatives, school committee, parents, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings show that the values of shiddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathanah are operationalized through data transparency, task distribution, quality communication, deliberation, exemplary behavior, and needs-based decision-making. SPMI has been implemented through the cycle of standard setting, implementation, evaluation, control, and quality improvement, although documentation, evaluation indicators, and follow-up mechanisms still require strengthening. This study concludes that Islamic leadership functions as an integrative strategy for developing quality culture and madrasa sustainability. The implication is that madrasas need to strengthen value-based quality evaluation systems consistently, participatively, and systematically.

Abstract

This study investigates the service quality of boarding madrasah through the systematic integration of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs with the student guidance management programme at Ma’had Insan Cendikia MTs Negeri 1 Banyumas. Boarding madrasahs confront two simultaneous demands: compliance with national curriculum mandates and the operational management of student residential life. A qualitative approach grounded in interpretive phenomenology was employed, involving nine purposively selected key informants drawn from student, dormitory supervisor, and parent groups. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document review, and were subsequently analysed using thematic analysis. The findings demonstrate that: (1) integrating the PAI curriculum under KMA 183/2019 with the residential curriculum produces a holistic educational model that aligns formal instruction, intensive Qur’anic memorisation (tahfidz), and tiered character development; (2) student guidance management operates through a structured and transparent communication system that fosters triangular collaboration among students, families, and the ma’had; (3) service quality is evidenced by the institution’s capacity to facilitate students’ developmental progress across three sequential phases—initial adjustment, stabilisation, and self-transformation underpinned by consistent family support; and (4) the admission of the first graduating cohort to leading educational institutions validates the effectiveness of this integration model. The study contributes a theoretically grounded triangular-collaboration curriculum model and offers practical recommendations for developing holistic support systems within boarding madrasah settings.

Abstract

Madrasah leaders face growing pressure to make decisions about digital learning resources, yet limited evidence guides how those decisions should support language instruction. This study examines the role of contextual digital teaching materials in Indonesian language writing instruction, framed as a problem of instructional leadership and resource decision-making in Islamic schools. The authors conducted a systematic literature review of articles published between 2015 and 2024, drawing from Scopus-indexed and Indonesian-accredited sources. After screening against eligibility criteria, fifteen sources were retained for thematic synthesis through reduction, classification, and pattern identification. The synthesis indicates that contextual digital teaching materials yield stronger writing outcomes than purely informative digital materials in three areas: idea development, textual organization, and critical thinking. Effects extend to learner motivation and self-regulated learning, but their realization depends on teacher digital competence, infrastructure, and curricular alignment with Islamic educational values. Without intentional integration of authentic and culturally grounded contexts, digital materials reinforce technical writing features without deepening content quality. The findings suggest that adoption decisions in madrasah settings function as instructional leadership acts linking resource selection to teacher capacity development and pedagogical philosophy, rather than technical procurement choices. The article recommends that madrasah leaders treat contextual digital teaching material adoption as a coupled decision involving curriculum design, human resource management, and infrastructure planning, supported by sustained professional development. Future empirical work should test the proposed framework through field studies in Islamic school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the character formation of Generation Z through the implementation of the Santri Trilogy in the context of modern Islamic education in the Zaid bin Tsabit (K) area of Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. The approach used is qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews with Islamic boarding school administrators, foster parents, alumni, and students, and documentation of learning activities. The results of the study indicate that the process of internalizing the values of the Santri Trilogy, which include the obligation of fardhu 'ain, the attitude of self-awareness from major sins, and noble behavior towards Allah and creatures, is able to increase the active involvement of students in learning, develop information literacy skills, and encourage changes in learning patterns from passive to active. In addition, the findings also show that the learning process in Islamic boarding schools takes place comprehensively by integrating cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects that are in accordance with the character of Generation Z. The collaborative and value-based environment of Islamic boarding schools also helps strengthen changes in student behavior. Overall, this study emphasizes that the integration of religious values with an active learning approach can be an effective model in forming a generation that is adaptive, critical, and has noble character.

Abstract

Increasing work pressure in the healthcare sector has the potential to reduce employee productivity. This study aims to analyze the effect of psychophysical pressure and work stress on administrative staff productivity with Life Equilibrium as a mediating variable. The study employed a quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). The sample consisted of 80 administrative staff members at Muhammadiyah Hospital Gresik selected through saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0. The results showed that: (1) Psychophysical pressure and work stress had a significant negative effect on productivity; (2) Both variables significantly negatively affected Life Equilibrium; (3) Life Equilibrium had a significant positive effect on productivity; and (4) Life Equilibrium significantly mediated the effect of psychophysical pressure and work stress on productivity. These findings indicate that despite high work pressure, productivity can be maintained through comprehensive management of work-life equilibrium. The practical implications of this study emphasize the importance of structured workload management policies and psychological support programs to maintain the well-being and performance of administrative staff in hospital settings.

Abstract

Leadership in Islamic educational institutions continuously faces a critical dichotomy between the relentless demands of modern, secular transformational management and the imperative to preserve classical religious values. This study aims to comparatively analyze the epistemological and ontological foundations of Al-Ghazali’s leadership thought and modern transformational leadership theory to construct an integrative synthesis. Employing a qualitative library research method with a historical-philosophical and comparative approach, this study extracts conceptual data from Al-Ghazali’s classical texts alongside foundational theories developed by Burns and Bass. The results reveal a profound paradigmatic contrast: transformational leadership operates on a positivistic, anthropocentric epistemology focused exclusively on observable organizational behaviors (the Four I's), whereas Al-Ghazali’s framework relies on a theocentric (Tawhid) foundation emphasizing internal moral character. To resolve this dichotomy, this study constructs the "Transformational-Ghazalian Leadership Model". In this novel framework, Al-Ghazali’s four cardinal virtues (Hikmah, Syaja'ah, Iffah, 'Adl) serve as the inner spiritual core that strictly guides and purifies the external operationalization of transformational behaviors. Consequently, idealized influence is rooted in iffah, inspirational motivation in syaja'ah, intellectual stimulation in hikmah, and individualized consideration in 'adl. This integrative synthesis provides a critical theoretical breakthrough, legitimizing modern organizational changes within Islamic institutions without compromising their eschatological objectives (falah). Future research is highly recommended to empirically validate this conceptual model through quantitative or mixed-methods assessments across various Islamic educational institutions.
