Abstract

Child Marriage remains a critical challenge in Karang Sidemen Village, Batukeliang Utara district, Central Lombok Regency, undermining efforts to improve human resource development. Its persistently high prevalence is driven in part by limited public access to information on the consequences and legal frameworks governing child marriage. As a result, the practice continues, particularly among early adolescents who have dropped out of school or are still enrolled in junior or senior secondary education. This community outreach initiative aimed to strengthen public knowledge and awareness of the impacts and legal provisions related to child marriage. The program was implemented through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, with effectiveness measured using GU-PSPP, which demonstrates a positive and statistically significant improvement in participants' understanding of child marriage regulations and associated risks.

Abstract

The capacity-building program for the Sinar Bahagia Farmers’ Group in Bebidas Village was implemented to strengthen farmers’ ability to diversify cocoa-based products through the application of green processing technologies. This community engagement initiative aimed to enhance postharvest efficiency, product quality, and economic value addition by utilizing environmentally friendly technologies such as solar dryers with photovoltaic panels, low-energy closed fermentation systems, and composting using EM4-enriched water. The methods employed included participatory training, technology demonstrations, production mentoring, and performance evaluation through measurements of cocoa bean quality, compost yield, and value-added analysis. The results indicated an increase in farmers’ knowledge from 54% to 88%, improved fermentation uniformity up to 85%, reduced drying time from 5–7 days to 2–3 days, and an increase in compost yield from 5.6% to 18.2%. Product diversification into organic cocoa powder, artisan chocolate, and pectin contributed to income growth of 18–72% for the group. Moreover, the program strengthened institutional capacity, enhanced women’s participation, and established a circular-economy-oriented farming model. In conclusion, the application of green processing effectively improved farmers’ capacities while expanding a sustainable cocoa value chain, and the program carries strong potential for replication in other cocoa-producing regions.

Abstract

East Pemenang Village, located in Pemenang District, North Lombok Regency, possesses substantial potential in coconut processing; however, most of the harvest is still sold in raw form, resulting in low added value. The Al-Amin Joint Business Group (KUB), which has initiated coconut-based processing such as briquettes and cocopeat, continues to face challenges related to limited technology, insufficient product diversification, and restricted market access. This community engagement program aims to enhance the efficiency of an integrated coconut processing system, develop value-added products such as tropinata beverages, nata de coco, coconut-based soap, and coconut-shell charcoal briquettes, as well as strengthen market linkages. A Supply Chain approach was adopted to integrate upstream and downstream processing activities. The program involved Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), technical training on modern processing technologies, the implementation of new technologies, and continuous mentoring to ensure optimal operational performance. Expected outcomes include product diversification—such as tropinata and coconut-based soap—and increased production capacity, including briquette output reaching 100 kg/day and nata de coco up to 50 liters/day. Furthermore, the program aims to empower the community of East Pemenang Village, improve economic well-being, and establish a sustainable local enterprise ecosystem.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Senggigi Village, West Lombok Regency, with the aim of increasing the capacity and social role of Senggigi residents, especially the TP-PKK women of Senggigi Village, as agents of change through the implementation of urban farming based on an Integrated Farming System (IFS). The activities included socialization, training in horticultural cultivation (eggplant, chili, tomato, water spinach, pakcoy), poultry raising, catfish farming through budikdamber and independent ponds. The activities were accompanied by intensive mentoring throughout the program. During the mentoring process, significant social transformation was observed, reflected in increased motivation, commitment, and solidarity among members, alongside the development of technical cultivation skills; as well as the initiative of TP-PKK women in implementing urban farming activities to improve family food security. The tangible products produced by the partners included eggs, homegrown vegetables, and catfish harvested during the program. This program provides a tangible and effective impact in strengthening family food security while also creating beneficial group activities, particularly in managing home gardens based on an integrated agricultural system in Senggigi Village.

Abstract

The Sustainable Food Home Area (KRPL) is a community-based approach aimed at strengthening food security and improving nutritional intake through sustainable utilization of household yards. This community service program sought to develop a village-based KRPL initiative in Kebun Jeruk Neighborhood, Pejeruk Village, Ampenan District, by establishing a village seed garden and applying vertical farming techniques on limited and degraded land. The program employed an andragogical approach consisting of counseling on vertical cultivation techniques and the benefits of food and medicinal plants, hands-on training using tiered planting media, and planting simulations. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills in cultivating food and medicinal plants using vertical farming methods. Furthermore, the program enhanced community awareness of the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly food production through optimal use of household land.

Abstract

Farmers’ lack of awareness about the various plant and animal based alternative feed ingredients for poultry is the basis and objective of community service activities in the Teruwai poultry. The activities were carried out in three stages: Stage I, which consisted of preparation through discussions and communication with the livestock group leader and several farmers; stage II, which consisted of distributing materials on various plant and animal based alternative feeds, their advantages and uses for poultry farming, as well as providing materials on one of the animal based ingredients, specifically BSF larvae, which farmers could request; and Stage III, which consisted of mentoring farmers in the cultivation of BSF larvae. The community service participants were groups of male and female poultry farmers and young men and women from the Teruwai poultry community, a total of 20 people. The community service activities were successfully implemented and managed, with the participation of 30 people, including farmers, poultry group, and young men and women from Teruwai poultry community service participants, as evidenced by the attendance rate, with exceed the target, discussion, and a desire to learn more, especially about BSF larvae. The activity continued with concrete actions to cultivate BSF larvae in group cages. The conclusion is that this community service activity generated increased knowledge, enthusiasm, and concrete actions on the part of leader and members of the poultry group in Teruwai Village
