Abstract

This community service program is motivated by the low economic value added and limited marketing of products among groups of women fish vendors in Kanagarian Sungai Tunu Barat, Ranah Pesisir District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The program aims to improve the partners’ knowledge and skills in processing marine products into frozen food, implementing digital marketing, and conducting simple financial record-keeping as an effort to strengthen creative economy activities based on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The program was implemented under the Pengabdian Masyarakat Pemula (PMP) grant scheme of Kemendiktisaintek 2025 over the period of July–December 2025 with three site visits, using methods of socialization, training, mentoring, discussion, as well as monitoring and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, pre–post questionnaires, practical assessment sheets, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively using qualitative and simple quantitative approaches. The results show an increase in participants’ knowledge regarding marine product processing and digital marketing; more than 70% of participants were able to produce fish and shrimp meatballs and nuggets according to the procedures, and approximately 80% of participants began to utilize social media to promote their products. The implementation of financial record-keeping enabled partners to start separating capital from profit, while those who actively produced and marketed processed products experienced an increase in daily income of around 30–40%. It is concluded that this integrated mentoring model is effective in enhancing the capacity of women fish vendors and has the potential to be replicated in other coastal communities with appropriate local contextualization.

Abstract

The causes of the low productivity of cocoa plants in the village of Rempek are that the plantations are planted with inferior seeds, the sanitary conditions of the plantations are poor, they receive little care, and the plants are old. Solutions to address these problems include: intensive care of the plantations, frequent, light, and simple pruning of the plants, integrated pest management, application of organic fertilizers, and rejuvenation of the plants through a polyclonal system. Another problem that needs to be addressed is the lack of knowledge and skills of farmers in managing cocoa plantations in the polyculture system. Furthermore, the entrepreneurial skills and agricultural knowledge of the farmers are also inadequate. Due to these issues, a training and support program has been established aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of farmers in managing cocoa plants in the polyclonal system. The execution of the training activities proceeded orderly, safely, and smoothly. The knowledge and skills of the participants in cultivating cocoa plants improved, as evidenced by the participation rate and the initially low enthusiasm, which could be raised to a high level after participating in the training. The management of cocoa plantations with a polyclone system and the intensive application of agronomic practices leads to a significantly higher total number of cocoa fruits per tree and a higher total weight of dry cocoa per tree compared to cocoa plantations that are only sporadically maintained and those that are not maintained as well as monoclonals.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance teacher professionalism through scientific article writing training in Mataram City. The program was motivated by the low academic writing competence among teachers, with only about 30% having prior publication experience. A total of 35 participants, consisting of 25 junior high school teachers and 10 pre-service teachers, were involved in activities that included socialization, intensive workshops, mentoring, and the use of supporting technologies such as Mendeley, Turnitin, and Google Classroom. Evaluation through pre-test and post-test demonstrated an improvement in participants’ scores from 67% to 78%, representing an 11% increase, with the highest achievement in academic ethics (85%). Furthermore, participants successfully developed article drafts, one of which was prepared for submission to a SINTA 4–accredited journal, and established a scientific writing community along with the production of a textbook Writing Educational Articles: From Ideas to Publication as additional outputs. These results indicate that practice-based training, personal mentoring, and the integration of technology are effective in improving academic literacy and teacher professionalism. The novelty of this program lies in combining academic literacy training with the creation of sustainable outputs (textbook and community), making it a replicable model for other regions with similar challenges.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition characterized by increased blood pressure due to the heart working harder to pump blood in order to meet the body’s oxygen and nutrient needs. This condition can lead to serious complications, such as damage to the heart, nerves, and kidneys, if not properly managed. Data from RT 04, RT 05, and RT 06 in Gembor Village show that the prevalence of hypertension remains relatively high. This community aimed to enhance community knowledge and awareness regarding hypertension control through health education. The intervention consisted of blood pressure measurement, interactive health counseling, and focused group discussions (FGDs) on cardiovascular health. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge about hypertension and its management, as well as greater awareness of the importance of prevention and blood pressure control. This activity is expected to encourage the community to adopt a sustainable healthy lifestyle as an effort to reduce the incidence of hypertension in the area.

Abstract

Traffic accidents frequently result in musculoskeletal injuries, particularly among school populations such as high school students. Members of the Youth Red Cross (PMR Wira) require adequate splinting and bandaging skills to provide initial management in the event of accidents occurring within the school environment. This community service activity aimed to enhance the splinting and bandaging competencies of PMR Wira students at SMAN 2 Mataram as a form of first aid for musculoskeletal injuries. The training method involved theoretical instruction and hands-on practice delivered to 29 students, with evaluation conducted through pre-test and post-test assessments. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ knowledge and skills; the average score increased from 8.76 to 10.14, the standard deviation decreased from 1.480 to 1.093, and the minimum score rose from 6 to 8. A t-test indicated a significant difference (p < .001) between pre- and post-training outcomes. This training successfully strengthened the school’s first-aid system and contributed to creating a safer and more responsive school environment.

Abstract

Fire is a major disaster threat that can cause significant damage, especially in rural areas with limited firefighting resources. Bagik Manis Village, located in Sambelia District, East Lombok Regency, is highly vulnerable due to dense settlements, simple electrical installations, and limited community knowledge of fire prevention. This highlights the need for training on the use of Portable Fire Extinguishers (APAR) to improve the community’s capacity for quick and effective emergency response. The training was participatory and included several stages: fire hazard awareness, basic APAR introduction, PASS technique demonstration (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), hands-on practice, simple simulations, and evaluations. Knowledge and skills were assessed through tests and observation. Results showed significant improvement in all indicators. Basic knowledge increased from 26% to 87%, understanding of the PASS procedure from 18% to 82%, practical skills from 13% to 77%, and collective awareness from 35% to 92%. The training effectively improved fire knowledge, skills, and preparedness culture. It is recommended to continue the program regularly, form fire preparedness groups, and ensure APAR availability in households and public facilities.

Abstract

Biofloc technology, with its innovative carbon source derived from sago, has significant potential for supporting the growth of microorganisms that convert pond waste into natural food. Biofloc technology in shrimp farming provides a solution for fishermen when fishing efforts are hampered by seasonal and environmental factors. This community service approach is participatory and applicable, as it is aimed at Bahari Jaya's partner community groups, who require hands-on practice. The results of the activity have shown that Bahari Jaya Group members have gained a better understanding of the basic concepts of biofloc technology and the function of carbon sources (particularly from sago) in the floc formation process by microorganisms. This has resulted in increased technical capacity and the utilization of local potential in fisheries cultivation through sago-based biofloc innovation.

Abstract

The native chicken farming sector in Midang Village, Gunung Sari District, West Lombok, mostly still uses an extensive system, which poses a high risk of disease spread. The lack of biosecurity implementation in these farms has an impact on the high mortality rate of chickens and low productivity. The purpose of this community service is to increase farmers' understanding of the importance of stable biosecurity to prevent the spread of disease and increase livestock productivity. This activity is carried out through socialization, counseling, and practical training on biosecurity, including making simple disinfectants, stable sanitation, and traffic control on the farm. As a result, farmers began to implement better biosecurity measures, which are expected to reduce disease risk and improve farmer welfare. This program contributes to ensuring the sustainability of the native chicken farming business in Midang Village by educating farmers about the importance of implementing biosecurity.
