Abstract

Sawapudo Village fishermen will benefit from this community service project because it will increase their awareness of fishing techniques that are less harmful to the environment. There is a lack of awareness among fishermen regarding the consequences of utilizing fishing gear that is harmful to the marine ecosystem, which is why this training is so crucial. Some of the methods that are utilized include lectures, hands-on field practice, and interactive and interactive conversations. Twenty fishermen participated in this exercise, which was carried out in conjunction with the administration of the community. The findings of the evaluation indicate that the participants have a better comprehension of the significance of marine conservation, the selection of fishing gear that is responsible for the environment, and the support of government rules that are associated with the management of sustainable fisheries populations. Through the use of participative and educational methods, this exercise demonstrates that the mentality of fishermen can be changed to become more responsible and sustainable in their fishing practices. Because of this, it is strongly suggested that training of this kind be maintained and carried out in other coastal locations that have features that are equivalent to those of the current area.

Abstract

This community service activity took the form of counseling and dialogue between resource persons and community leaders, preachers, and female Islamic educators (daiyah) in Boyolali to address the emergence of extremist attitudes leading to radicalism and intolerance. These erroneous political and religious stances disrupt harmonious religious and national life. To safeguard the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), it is crucial to develop effective preaching strategies and designs. The activity was facilitated through a partnership with the Boyolali Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs and received logistical support from the Boyolali Regency BAZNAS (National Alms Agency), with funds allocated from ZIS (Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah) for asnaf sabilillah (those in the cause of Allah) as regulated by law. The method employed was counseling packaged as Tazwidul Muballighin, focusing on strategies and designs for preaching that embody rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation). The objectives were: (1) to provide preachers with knowledge for professional preaching; (2) to introduce and deepen understanding of preaching strategies and designs; and (3) to counter radicalism and intolerance. The activity aimed to produce preachers capable of implementing acceptable preaching methods. The counseling had a positive and significant impact, evidenced by increased knowledge, behavioral changes, and strengthened community capacity. Overall, this community service activity through dialogue yielded broad and diverse impacts, benefiting both the community and the organizers.

Abstract

In the digital era, teachers are required to continuously enhance their capacity to integrate educational technology into the learning process. Interactive learning media and digital evaluation (e-evaluation) play an essential role in supporting differentiated learning. However, many private schools still rely on traditional approaches, such as paper-based tests, Google Forms, whiteboards, and PowerPoint. This condition highlights the need for digital teaching media and e-evaluation tools such as Articulate Storyline to improve learning quality and outcomes. This community service program was designed with four objectives: (1) to improve private school teachers’ skills in using technology, (2) to enhance their understanding of e-evaluation, (3) to strengthen their ability to apply digital learning media, and (4) to broaden their insights into designing assessments and learning media based on differentiated learning. The program employed presentations, demonstrations, and practical training, carried out through several stages: Focus Group Discussions (FGD), training and mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The outcomes indicate significant achievements: 95% of teachers actively participated, 83% gained competence in developing digital media with Storyline, and 80% understood the application of e-evaluation for differentiated learning. Furthermore, 90% of students obtained recognition in related courses such as Human-Computer Interaction, Teaching Strategies, and Learning Evaluation. Additional outputs include an e-evaluation guidebook, teacher certificates, visual posters, a published article in Gema Ngabdi Journal, media coverage, and a documented video on the university’s YouTube channel.

Abstract

Final-year students of the Civil Engineering Department are the spearhead of the University of Mataram's output. They need to be provided with comprehensive academic knowledge and skills to enable them to adapt to a flexible workplace. This is especially true in the current era of drought, which is a significant concern, making it crucial to provide students with the efficient use of water for crop irrigation. Therefore, final-year students need to be encouraged to undertake field-level learning to complement their knowledge and skills before completing their studies. Therefore, it is necessary to mentor final-year students in the design and use of water-efficient drip irrigation systems at the field level for a specific period of time to improve their competency until they are able to use drip irrigation in agriculture. This activity aims to mentor final-year students in the design and use of drip irrigation systems at the dryland level in Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency. The mentoring activities include site preparation, network preparation, drip irrigation network testing, and the use of drip irrigation in the planting medium. The irrigation design uses ¾-inch and ½-inch PVC pipes, factory-made Netafim (NTF) drip pipes, a 600-liter water tank as the water source, and accessories. Students were mentored through the stages of creating a distribution network, designing a drip irrigation network, testing it, and implementing it on their planting areas. The mentoring program successfully guided four final-year students and local residents, and the students were able to construct a drip irrigation network on approximately one acre of land. The students have successfully implemented the drip irrigation system.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer death among women in Indonesia. Early detection through breast self-examination (BSE) is a crucial step in reducing delays in diagnosis. However, the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers in rural areas remain limited. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of healthcare workers regarding early breast cancer detection through education and mentoring in BSE practices in Batukumbung Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency. The implementation method included preparation, education, BSE practice training, and mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests. Results showed an increase in respondents' knowledge from sufficient (75%) to good (95%) after the education. Positive attitudes toward the importance of early detection also increased from 70% to 92%. Furthermore, skills in performing BSE practices improved, from no respondents able to perform the steps correctly at the initial assessment to 60% at the final assessment. This activity has proven effective in increasing the capacity of healthcare workers in early breast cancer detection and is expected to contribute to prevention efforts at the community level.
