Abstract

Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. In 2015, the population growth rate in West Nusa Tenggara is equal with national population growth rate, which is about 1.39%. The long-term contraceptive methods is one of the most effective family planning programs to succeed in controlling the population growth rate. The participation rate for the use of this contraceptive methods by fertile age couples in Bunut Baok village, Middle Lombok, is only about 10%. This was dissemination of information event aimed to disseminate the information regarding long-term contraceptive methods to Bunut Baok villagers, Middle of Lombok. This social event is part of the thematic Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) programs of students of Universitas Mataram in the period of 2020 in Bunut Baok villagers attended by 59 Bunut Baok villagers as participants. In this event, pre-test and post-test were also conducted to evaluate the increase of their knowledge about long-term contraceptive methods. The participants had mean age of 36 years old, mostly female and had senior high school educational level. The mean of posttest scores was higher than the mean of pretest scores (88.54vs77.03; p = 0.000). These results indicated that this dissemination of information event increase the level of knowledge of Bunut Baok villagers related to the long-term contraceptive methods.

Abstract

Planting diversification with horticultural crops in the dry land area of North Lombok Regency is an effort to increase the planting index (IP) which is supported by appropriate cultivation technology and sufficient water availability to support plant growth. It was hoped that the increase in the cropping index in dry land areas will trigger an increase in community welfare, particularly an increase in farmers' income. Horticultural development is intended to provide added value to increasing farmers' income. Gumantar Village, Kayangan District, North Lombok Regency is one of the areas that has dry land which is quite potential for horticultural development. The problems faced by farmers in these areas include the low level of knowledge and skills of farmers, especially in the management of horticultural commodities. So far, farming activities were still traditional and the level of farmer participation was still relatively low. To overcome these problems, it was necessary to transfer innovation technology through the development of environmentally friendly horticultural crops with the application of Good Agricultural Practices and production management in accordance with natural resource conditions. Counseling and training as well as demonstration plots using the Participatory Action Research method related to horticultural cultivation technology have been carried out in Amor-Amor hamlet, Gumantar village in July-December 2019. This community service activity is considered quite successful as seen from the enthusiasm and persistence of the participants in attended counseling, training, and demonstration plots (cultivation of tomatoes and golden melons). The results of the demonstration plot showed a significant increase both in the aspect of crop productivity and increased income per unit area of arable land. Continuous assistance from all parties, especially the local government was highly expected for the sustainability of horticultural commodity development efforts in order to increase the income of dry land farmers

Abstract

This dedication activity was based on requests from the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet Islamic boarding school and the people of Wakan village, Jerowaru sub-district, East Lombok regency to get guidance on poultry raising and processing of poultry manure waste, which is one of the activities in the boarding school. The activity involved the community and students of Islamic boarding schools in the village of Wakan. Activities include counseling on poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing in the form of hongkong caterpillar cultivation using poultry droppings. The method used is a participatory method, counseling, and waste treatment practices with various alternative treatment processes. The target to be achieved from this activity is the community and boarding school students motivated to conduct poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing business, and make it one of the leading programs in boarding schools. Based on the results of the community service activities, various problems were found, namely the ignorance of the community in processing poultry, cow, and goat manure waste which is often complained of by the community. The Wakan village community and the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet boarding school do not know how to handle livestock waste. Wakan villagers enthusiastically participated in counseling and practices of sewage treatment, as evidenced by the number of participants who took part, 37 people and during the active discussion session, as well as the emergence of community commitment to process waste into useful products.

Abstract

The activity of improving the governance of the Ikaboga Branch Management Board (DPC) of West Lombok Regency aims to provide knowledge for the administrators of the Ikaboga DPC, West Lombok Regency regarding good organizational governance. Another objective of this activity is to provide knowledge on how to compile financial reports, especially bookkeeping and provide training to make financial reports for administrators so that the organization becomes good governance. In the end, this activity is expected to provide an understanding for the administrators of the Ikaboga DPC, West Lombok Regency about how good governance and the administrators of the Ikaboga DPC in West Lombok Regency are able to manage finances and make financial reports so as to improve better governance. This training activity will be aimed at administrators of the Ikaboga DPC, West Lombok Regency. The implementation of activities is carried out with the approach of providing material relevant to improving governance.

Abstract

In the situation of maintaining physical distance today requires all parties to innovate in carrying out activities including community service activities. The face to face method that has become a habit has to be changed by utilizing social media. One of the most widely used social media is WharsApp. In the context of disseminating information about the content and efficacy of ciplukan fruits, counseling was carried out using the physical distance keeping method through WhatsApp media. The results achieved from the implementation of counseling using social media WhatApp is increasing pesrta knowledge about the content and efficacy of ciplukan fruit respectively from 33.7% to 96.7% and from 53.3% to 86.7%, and increased interest in consuming fruit ciplukan from 67.9% to 93.3%.

Abstract

Aim of Community service activities, namely counse to explain and invite farmers in Tempos Village Gerung District, West Lombok Regency, to be familiar with the implementation of the organic farming system, and encourage farming communities to utilize the potential of natural resources well and wisely to protect agricultural land from degradation (damage) and good production in the long term. For this reason, counseling has been carried out in the agricultural sector, namely the organic farming system with the results of farmers and the community understands that the organic farming system has the potential to be implemented on agricultural land in the village of Tempos, and to improve soil health and protect the environment from degradation (damage) in the long term (sustainable). Farmers are motivated to improve their ability to manage their farming with an organic farming system.

Abstract

: Currently, the Lamtoro plant has become the prima donna of forage for ruminants in NTB Province. This plant is able to grow in relatively dry land and can be a source of protein for ruminants, maintenance and maintenance is relatively easy because it does not require a lot of water. On the other hand, the use of lamtoro as a source of protein for ruminant feed is an efficient step in meeting animal feed needs. Through the utilization of lamtoro, the use of less productive land can be utilized as well as a reforestation tree to prevent erosion, on the other hand, the use of lamtoro can increase farmers' income because the cost of foraging for food in the dry season can be minimized, the quality of feed given to livestock is maintained so that livestock productivity is maintained. The dry season remains high, therefore the Maju Bersama Group in the Filter Village of North Moyo District as one of the livestock groups in North Moyo District where the population does a lot of raising ruminant livestock, it is deemed necessary to carry out community empowerment service activities through counseling on “Lamtoro Cultivation As a Protein Source Feed Bank in North Moyo District, Sumbawa Regency. " Providing counseling in the form of demonstrations, speeches (lectures and questions and answers), and distribution of leaflets attended by 20 participants including members of farmer groups and local residents. The results of the counseling were considered very useful. This could be seen from the enthusiasm of the extension participants who attended both the question and answer session and the demonstration session. The output of this counseling result is an ISSN service journal and a brochure

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, recurrent skin inflammatory disease that commonly affects children. There is an increasing prevalence of AD in South East Asia and this creates a high economic burden in addition to reducing patients’ and family quality of life. Correct understandings of the disease and its management are very important for family or caregiver of children with AD. Nevertheless, misunderstandings, lack of information and adherence to therapy and poor self-management are the main reasons of dissatisfaction with treatment. Parents often mistook food allergy as the cause of DA and this lead to unnecessary avoidance of certain food. This potentially leads to nutritional problems in children. This educational intervention activity aimed to increase parent and teachers’ knowledge regarding the cause and symptoms of AD, as well as appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approach for children with AD. This activity was delivered in the form of lecture and discussion, and 75 parents and teachers participated in this event. Almost half of the participants (34 people) had not heard about AD previously. Based on the analysis of pretest (median 5.00) and posttest (median 8.00) results, we found a significant improvement of knowledge on AD among participants (p < 0.01). Pretest scores were associated with participants’ age, while posttest scores were associated with participants’ education level. In conclusion, this educational intervention had been successfully improved participants’ knowledge of AD.

Abstract

The program that was implemented at Nurul Wathan (NW) was the result of research at the Rembitan Observatory to measure the earth's magnetism using a device called Proton. The international unit for measuring the earth's magnetism is the Tesla, specifically the nTesla earth magnet (Nano Tesla). The stages of implementing the solution are adjusted to the characteristics of the stages of the disaster cycle. During a disaster, full of activities in an emergency situation, post-disaster, reduce the complexity of the problems in reconstruction and rehabilitation. Pre-disaster requires thorough planning. Communities that are exposed to disasters are very diverse. For those who have been educated or those who have not received formal education, they need to understand the importance of disaster risk reduction (DRR).

Abstract

As an effort to improve the knowledge and skills of rural breeders, community service activities have been carried out with the topic "Training on Feed Processing from Agricultural Waste in Moyo Mekar Village of Moyo Hilir Sumbawa." This service activity was held on the grounds that breeders in Moyo Mekar Village often experience difficulties to meet the needs of their livestock for forage, especially during the dry season, so this sometimes has an unwanted negative impact, such as the occurrence of cases of death and disease in livestock as a result of the declining condition of the livestock. This is due to the ignorance of the breeders in their efforts to overcome the shortage of forage during the dry season. This community service activity has been carried out using three methods, namely lecture, written and demonstration methods. With the lecture method, it was conveyed about the understanding and explanation of how to preserve and treat agricultural waste. Through the written method, it is conveyed by giving brochures to the breeder members. Meanwhile, with the demonstration method, the breeders directly practice ways of preserving and treating agricultural waste. Based on the results of monitoring during the activity, the results of questions and answers and the enthusiasm of the participants, it was seen that the new breeders realized how important the role of nutrition was for livestock, the availability of applying preservation and feed processing technology, and it could also be seen that they had no difficulty in adopting the material provided, then Overall this activity can be said to be quite successful. Recognizing the limitations of the breeders in terms of preservation and processing of feed which is an alternative for providing feed in the dry season, it is suggested that this kind of activity should be continued so that the expected livestock production can be achieved.
