JURNAL GEMA NGABDI (JGN), Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat diterbitkan tiga kali setahun pada bulan Maret, Juli, dan November oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM), Universitas Mataram (Unram). <![CDATA[Epilepsi merupakan salah satu penyakit dibidang neurologi dengan prevalensi yang tinggi. Pasien epilepsi merupakan merupakan pengunjung terbanyak di poli saraf Rumah Sakit Jiwa (RSJ) Mutiara Sukma. Jika tidak ditangani dengan baik, penyakit epilepsi menimbulkan beban sosial dan ekonomi bagi pasien dan keluarganya. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pemeriksaan elektroensefalografi (EEG) untuk konfirmasi diagnosis dan menentukan lokasi lesi pada pasien rawat jalan epilepsi di RSJ Mutiara Sukma dan memberikan edukasi kepada mereka mengenai upaya mencapai kontrol bangkitan yang baik. Sebanyak 59 pasien epilepsi di RSJ Mutiara Sukma turut berpatisipasi dalam kegiatan ini, dengan karakteristik sebagian besar berjenis kelamin laki-laki, berusia lebih dari 20 tahun, dan memiliki tingkat pendidikan rendah (sekolah dasar). Sekitar 40,7% dari jumlah tersebut menunjukkan hasil abnormal pada pemeriksaan EEG dengan lokasi terbanyak di lobus temporal. Seluruh pasien epilepsi dan anggota keluarga pendampingnya menunjukkan perhatian yang tinggi terhadap seluruh rangkaian kegiatan ini, termasuk pada sesi edukasi. Kegiatan ini memberikan manfaat yang besar bagi pasien dan keluarga pengasuhnya. Perlu dilakukan evaluasi secara berkala terkait jumlah pasien epilepsi yang dilakukan pemeriksaan EEG dan yang mencapai kontrol bangkitan epileptik optimal sebagai indikator penting dari keberhasilan kegiatan ini.]]>

<![CDATA[The concept of disaster management is growing after realizing the impact caused by the disaster. One of the areas on the island of Lombok that was affected by the 2018 earthquake is the North Lombok Regency. Located in an area prone to earthquakes, efforts are needed to minimize the risk of a disaster occurring. One of them is through community service activities in the form of disaster management socialization to housewives. Housewives are deemed necessary to be given socialization because the phenomenon shows that the involvement of housewives in disaster management is still minimal. In several disaster events, it is seen that the role of housewives is more often the object of disaster management. Women are still considered as the weak and do not have any power when a disaster occurs. Referring to this phenomenon, this socialization is aimed at educating housewives about disaster management in order to increase their knowledge and capacity about disaster management. This socialization was carried out using lecture and discussion methods related to the following materials: (i) disaster management; (ii) disaster risk, and (iii) regional disaster management organization. The output of this activity is an increase in the understanding and capacity of housewives about disaster management, disaster risk and knowledge of disaster management organizations in the regions.]]>

<![CDATA[Knowledge of business planning will help household businesses increase family income which in turn will make it easier to achieve common goals such as planning children's education, preparing pension funds, preparing pilgrimage funds and various other family needs. Some members of the Dharma Wanita Unit Bappeda Mataram City run household businesses such as food catering, handicrafts and buying and selling businesses. Not only planning the use of available financial resources in household businesses, this training aims to provide knowledge and ideas for members of the Dharma Wanita Unit Bappeda Mataram City regarding ways that can be applied to family businesses in calculating the cost of production of household businesses and increase family income through more appropriate business financial planning. By using simple functions in the Microsoft Excel program, service activity participants are trained to design simple applications that can be used to calculate the cost of production of household goods such as handicrafts, catering services and even retail. ]]>

<![CDATA[The increase in the number of patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 continues to increase very significantly from time to time and there is no certainty when this outbreak will end. Therefore, anticipatory and preventive steps are needed to overcome these problems. One of the efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus is to regularly wash hands and use hand sanitizers. However, not everyone is able to prepare hand sanitizers and not all public places are provided with hand washing facilities and hand sanitizers, even if there are, special personnel (operators) are needed to spray sanitizer and check body temperature with a thermo gun from a very close distance, which of course is this. It is also very vulnerable to the transmission of Covid-19. The purpose of this activity is to design and manufacture and provide appropriate technology for hand sanitizers and body temperature detectors to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19. The method used in this activity is to design, manufacture and test automatic hand sanitizer dispensers and disseminate technology at the urban village office in Kendari City. This community service activity has succeeded in producing an automatic hand sanitizer product that is integrated with a body temperature detection system and this tool has been implemented in one of the Kelurahan offices in Kendari City. ]]>

<![CDATA[The productivity of laying hens in North Lombok Regency has not yet reached its maximum. Egg production has not been able to supply the needs of the people, hotels and restaurans in North Lombok Regency. Assistance activities from various parties are needed in order to improve the business of laying hens through the share of science, technology, and training in livestock. The community service activity was initiated by a speech from the head of the breeders group who revealed the various problems by breeders in improving their poultry farming business. The next activity was the share knowledge of community service which include successful management of laying hens, techniques for preparing various feed formulas by utilizing and techmiques for improving the quality of alternative feeds. The community service activity was attended by 35 breeders and the discussion was active. The breeders who attended were farmers who are members of the ‘Gemas’ Layer Farmer Group Associantion, which has 23 members with a business capacity of 20.000 layer hens. The farmer group is eager to increase egg production in order the needs of hotels, restaurants, people in North Lombok Regency. <![CDATA[Washing hands with soap for 20 seconds is an effective prevention effort against various infectious diseases. In the COVID-19 pandemic, mastery of good and correct hand washing by the wider community plays a major role in efforts to prevent disease transmission. Mataram University Hospital which is a hospital that serves as a vehicle for education is the right place to apply knowledge and disseminate knowledge to the wider community, especially hospital visitors about how to wash hands in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, we do community service in the form of counseling on how to wash hands for visitors to the Mataram University Hospital. This service aims to increase the knowledge of visitors to the Mataram University Hospital on how to wash their hands. Counseling is carried out in the visitor's waiting room, both at registration, pharmacy and outpatient. Young doctors who are conducting education are also involved in this activity. Counseling is carried out by inviting the demonstrators to directly practice hand washing steps according to World Health Organization (WHO) standards. During the period from August to October, there were 7 counseling sessions and hand washing practices for visitors to the Mataram University Hospital. The media used in the counseling were banners with pictures of hand washing steps and hand sanitizers for direct practice by visitors. The involvement of young doctors and good coordination with the education and health promotion sectors of the hospital support this activity. ]]>

<![CDATA[This service aims to make savings and loan cooperatives in the Welfare Environment easy to access bank credit through the implementation of a computer-based accounting information system in the process of preparing financial reports and this becomes a pilot model in developing financial statement applications for other types of cooperatives in the city of Mataram. This service method consists of: 1) the first stage where the creation of a computer application for managing the financial statements of savings and loan cooperatives. With this application, it will be easier for administrators to make cooperative financial reports. 2) the second stage, where computer application training for the management of cooperative financial reports. This assistance is carried out in one of the houses of the cooperative management in the Perumnas Welfare environment using their respective laptops and also the assistants visit one of the administrators in their respective homes to be given assistance. This assistance is carried out for a day with 9 cooperative managers from 9 RTs in the Welfare Environment. This mentoring activity went smoothly. All participants enthusiastically followed the event to the end. Participants also considered that this assistance was important and indispensable for cooperative management. Participants hope to be followed up by providing more assistance so that the management can apply the preparation of cooperative financial reports using excel.]]>

<![CDATA[Guru mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam meningkatkan SDM (Sumber Daya Manusia) dan menyiapkan para peserta didik untuk mampu menghadapi tantangan zaman. Salah satu sarana yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh guru bahasa Inggris untuk kebutuhan tersebut adalah melalui kegiatan membaca yang dapat melatih kemampuan berfikir kritis, kreatif dan aktif. Question Generation merupakan kegiatan belajar dimana peserta didik dilatih untuk mengajukan atau membuat pertanyaan terhadap apa yang mereka sudah baca yang terdiri dari pertanyaan literal, inferential dan evaluative. Kegiatan Pengadian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan model pembelajaran membaca berbasis Question Generation yang dengannya para guru bhs Inggris dapat melatih para peserta didik mereka untuk aktif, kreatif dan berfikir kritis dalam kegiatan membaca. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Gunung Sari dan melibatkan 20 orang guru bahasa Inggris SMA, SMK dan MA di wilayah kecamatan Gunung Sari. Hasil kegiatan PPM yang meliputi penyampaian materi, diskusi, latihan dan evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa para peserta terlihat antusius dan aktif dalam mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan yang ada, tekun memperhatikan dan menyimak materi yang disampaikan oleh tim, aktif berdiskusi atau tanya jawab terkait materi sosialisasi dan masalah pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan juga praktik dalam membuat pertanyaan untuk teks yang mereka baca. Selain itu, hasil isian angket evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa para peserta menyambut baik kegiatan ini karana dapat menambah pengetahuan dan wawasan mereka, sehingga mereka berharap jika ada kegiatan serupa pada masa yang akan datang dengan melibatkan lebih banyak guru dan materi yang lebih fokus pada teacher needs dan problem solving.]]>

<![CDATA[Agricultural land in the Gumantar Village area is dry land with relatively low productivity and diversification of food production, which then causes low income and food availability for farming families, so that it could have an impact on unbalanced food consumption and nutrition for family members and could also threaten household food security. However, on the other hand, the average farmer household has a fairly large yard, but it has not been used optimally. Therefore, counseling was carried out to the community which aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of farmers on the understanding of balanced nutrition and at the same time use the yard around the house in realizing food independence and fulfilling the nutritional needs of the family. The extension activity was carried out in June 2021. This extension activity was considered successful, seen from the enthusiasm and perseverance of the participants in participating in the extension activity and then hoping for follow-up in the practice of using the yard. The farming community of Gumantar Village has high enthusiasm for the realization of the use of the yard as a source of nutritious food.]]>

<![CDATA[The practice of early marriage is currently a common thing among the community, especially in rural areas where there is less information about the impact of this behavior. The purpose of this counseling is to provide education about the causes of early marriage and the impact it has, as well as its implications according to Islamic law. The method used in this counseling activity is using the lecture and discussion method. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out by the extension worker after the extension activity was completed, in general it could be said that the participants had only just learned the material presented. Lack of public awareness of deviant behavior carried out by men and women (early marriage), especially among adolescents who are not medically old enough, has resulted in this practice still occurring. So that it has become a joint task for parents in educating their children as well as possible both in the fields of religion and education so that our children avoid these actions.]]>
