The Indonesian Journal of Social Studies was founded in 2018 in order to offer the disciplines in the field of social science education a representative scholarly publication. The journal represents a sophisticated image that is characterised by its theory and research orientation, interdisciplinary approach, internationalism and originality as well as by a rigorous anonymous peer review. The Indonesian Journal of Social Studies is a journal published every 6 months, namely July and December, published by the Department of Social Studies, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Abstract

The discussion about the existence of the Chinese ethnic in the midst of the development of the city of Surabaya is the initial part of writing this research. This article tries to reveal the Education Dynamics of Chinese Children in Surabaya during the Dutch Colonial Period. Chinese-Javanese relations are very close, even the existence of ethnic Chinese as one of the social entities in the city community is also a subject of discussion, to find out the dynamics of education and social changes in the city of Surabaya. The history of the city cannot be separated from the socio-political dynamics of society, which must begin with education. The development of the city affects the character and behavior of a person in society. To achieve this goal, historical methods are used, which include: heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The result achieved is that "the Chinese community of Surabaya through education gives birth to new ideas that have an influence on the decolonization process" which will be explained in this article.

Abstract

This article discusses the diversity of historical heritage found in Langsa City which has the potential to become a sustainable historical heritage. This paper also describes how to realize sustainable tourism based on history and culture and improve the quality of life of the community by utilizing historical and cultural heritage. The research was conducted in Langsa city, Aceh province, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach by conducting observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Based on the findings and facts in the field, identify three potentials that can become icons for the development of historical and cultural tourism. The first is the historical heritage in the form of physical, the second is in the form of culture and the third is the historical heritage in the form of culinary. This diversity of historical heritage-based sustainable tourism has not received much attention in the study of sustainable tourism. This is because tourism infrastructure such as destinations and human resources have not been well prepared. In addition, the involvement of public participation to help realize sustainable tourism is still not optimal. Tourism by utilizing historical heritage capital is very important for the environment and society. and have an impact on the local and national economy. Realizing sustainable tourism based on historical and cultural heritage is done by implementing destination management, so that each type of tourism gets the same attention so that all tourism sectors can progress together, increase the quality of tourism, and can benefit all parties. It is also recommended to build good cooperation between the government, the community and the private sector in developing sustainable tourism based on historical and cultural heritage. Cultural heritage buildings that have received status and are being proposed by the government as cultural heritage so that their maintenance and utilization can be optimal. In addition, it is necessary to open spaces for collaboration between the government, academia and the community in the development of sustainable tourism based on historical heritage.

Abstract

Professional development of functional positions of education staff at the State University of Surabaya to State Universities with Legal Entities ( PTNBH ) are important studies considering that the output is Unesa's HR in accordance with the mandate of the Statute and UNESA's SOTK as PTNBH. Meanwhile, the objective of this research is to analyze the needs and professional development of the functional positions of educational staff needed in accordance with SOTK UNESA PTNBH. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques are through questionnaires, FGDs, and workshops. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques with the SPSS program, qualitative analysis, and pattern analysis to formulate conclusions and formulate recommendations. The results of this study show; (1) it is necessary to increase the understanding of the Permenpan RB which regulates the functional positions; (2) most of them require training in the preparation of research proposals, writing scientific papers for translation and adaptation of books, in order to fulfill the components of professional development credit properly; (3) most have not had the opportunity to participate in research from the institution. There is great hope for them, the institution has a policy in research management; (4) some of them have assignments that are not in accordance with their functional positions, so this makes it difficult for them to fulfill professional development credit scores.

Abstract

This article aims to develop social studies learning modules based on local wisdom at MTs Ar Rohman Tegalrejo. The type of research is development research using the Borg and Gall model. The research process was carried out until the stage of perfecting the final product which included a feasibility test from several experts. Testing the results of module development using the Independent Sample T-test. The research was conducted at MTs Ar Rohman Tegalrejo. The researchers' efforts to present social studies learning modules based on local wisdom to support social studies integration by raising the theme of local wisdom around students so as to achieve good character education. Based on the assessment of the material aspect, it gets a score of 82%, the language aspect gets a score of 100%, the learning media aspect gets a score of 93% and expert practitioners score 85.6%. Based on the calculation of the average learning module, it is declared valid and suitable for use in learning. There are differences in the value of learning outcomes and also the character of loving local culture in the experimental class and the control class. Based on the output table of the independent samples test in the equal variances assumed section, it is known that the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000 <0.05, so as the basis for decision making in the independent sample t test it can be concluded that h0 is rejected and h1 is accepted. This it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the average student learning outcomes in the experimental group and the control group at MTs Ar Rohman Tegalrejo. Abstract

Character education efforts at Khadijah Middle School to continue to make Islamic religious activities an indispensable activity are so that the students' personal character has Islamic principles and values. strengthening Islamic activities is an implementation of the values of Islamic religious education, in which the physical and spiritual needs of students are needed. This research uses quantitative methods. The population in this study were all 155 grade 8 students at SMP Khadijah Surabaya, with data collection obtained through a questionnaire. The results of this study show that the results of the simple regression test and the Fcount regression test are 339.704 with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that the variable Islamic religious activities has a very significant influence on the character education of SMP Khadijah Surabaya students. The results of the hypothesis in this study are that there is a significant influence of Islamic religious activities on students' religious attitudes to strengthen character education so that the hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of Islamic religious activities on students' religious attitudes to strengthen student character education at SMP Khadijah Surabaya. This perception has a significant influence of 68.9%. So that it can strengthen the existence of a very strong and large influence.

Abstract

Guru merupakan salah satu unsur yang berperan penting dalam proses pendidikan. Salah satu faktor penting dalam menentukan prestasi belajar siswa adalah variasi gaya mengajar guru, apabila seorang guru memiliki variasi gaya mengajar yang baik maka prestasi belajar siswa juga akan menjadi lebih baik pula. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi gaya mengajar guru terhadap prestasi belajar siswa mata pelajaran IPS di MTs Swasta Darul Ihsan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa di MTs Swasta Darul Ihsan yang berjumlah 756 siswa, sedangkan populasi berjumlah 262 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan angket dengan menggunakan skala likert sebagai skala pengukurannya. Teknik analisi data dilakukan dengan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis regresi linear sederhana. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai korelasi antara variasi gaya mengajar guru dengan prestasi belajar siswa 0,468 yang berarti terdapat korelasi sedang. Nilai variasi gaya mengajar guru terhadap prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 21%, artinya variasi gaya mengajar guru memberikan kontribusi terhadap prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 21%. Sedangkan nilai hasil koefisien regresi sebesar 0,355 dan nilai konstanta sebesar 51,372.

Abstract

Tindakan plagiarisme merupakan kecurangan yang sering dilakukan mahasiswa dalam menjalani  perkuliahan mereka. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi mahasiswa mengenai tindakan plagiarism, seberapa sering mereka melakukan tindakan plagiarism dan alasan apa yang menyebabkan  mereka melakukan tindakan plagiarisme. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan model fenomenologi. Jumlah responden yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 13 mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi, yang dianggap sudah ideal mengenyam bangku perkuliahan selama kurang dari 4 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki persepsi yang sama terhadap tindakan plagiarisme dengan alasan yang hampir sama. Alasan mereka melakukan plagiarisme sebagian karena malas, dihadapkan dengan waktu pengumpulan tugas yang hampir habis, ada juga yang mengaggap tidak melakukan plagiarisme kerena sudah memodifikasi karya atau pendapat orang dengan teknik parafrase atau metode amati, tiru modifikasi serta mencantumkan sitasi dan diantaranya menggap bahwa kesuksesan dari nilai yang dia diperoleh justru lebih baik dibanding dengan meluangkan waktu untuk mengemukakan pendapat orisinil dari dirinya. Abstract

Tulisan ini menjelaskan tentang peran media sosial di era globalisasi pada remaja muslim dalam mempelajari pendidikan seks. Media sosial menyediakan beragam konten pendidikan seks dengan kemasan yang menarik dan mudah diakses para pengguna internet khususnya generasi milenial termasuk remaja muslim. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan bentuk penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data observasi non partisipan, wawancara mendalam dan studi dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini remaja muslim yang bersekolah di Madrasah Aliyah (MA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial seperti Whatsapp, Instagram, dan Youtube mempunyai peran dalam menambah informasi terkait pendidikan seks, dan faktor yang melatarbelakangi remaja muslim mempelajari pendidikan seks yakni faktor internal seperti rasa ingin tahu dan berkaca dari banyaknya fenomena kehamilan di luar nikah, sedangkan faktor eksternal meliputi pengaruh teman sebaya dan banyaknya informasi di media sosial. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media sosial pada remaja muslim sebagai salah satu cara dalam menjawab rasa haus terhadap wawasan pendidikan seks. Beragam situs media sosial mendorong remaja muslim untuk menggunakannya sebagai media yang mendukung informasi pendidikan seks. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan seks, Media sosial, Globalisasi

Abstract

This research aims to emphasize the characteristics of social studies and civic education practice in Japan through a case study of junior high school 3rd grade practice of œhuman rights learning through participatory hands-on learning and to show comparative viewpoints on social studies in Indonesia. The following points became clear as a result of this research. First, through the unit of social studies and civic education, students could have fun and realize the value of human rights by adopting a participatory experiential approach to learning with the inclusion of workshops and simulated trials. This point is one of the important characteristics of citizenship in a democratic society. Second, in a social studies and civic education lesson, the students actively respected others opinions and learned from each other by actively participating in group activities and discussions. This point forms the basis of the citizenship necessary to form a democratic society. The above two points are thought to have implications for the social studies and civic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and explain the forms of conflict resolution in the ownership of the Dalem Temple and the Graveyard involving two neighboring traditional villages, namely the Kemoning Traditional Village and the Budaga Traditional Village. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data in the study was obtained through in-depth interviews with several informants. The informants who became the source of data in this study were five people, namely two key informants, namely the Head of the Traditional Village from Kemoning and Budaga, one informant from the Klungkung Resort Police, and two people from the communities of these two traditional villages. This study found at least four forms of conflict resolution efforts undertaken to resolve this problem, namely negotiation, facilitation, mediation, and arbitration. The final decision in this conflict is determined through an arbitration mechanism involving a customary dispute resolution institution. The use of arbitration is because no definitive agreement has been reached that satisfies both parties through previous negotiations. In the end, the decision of the customary dispute-determination institution is the final decision on the existence of Pura Dalem and the Graveyard, which is the object of dispute in this conflict and must be accepted and carried out by both parties.
