Abstract

Women’s body image concerns represent a risk factor for a host of physical and psychological disturbances. Given these harmful outcomes that are associated with body image concerns, it is important to understand the factors that relate to their body image. Here, we consider a factor that has not heretofore been investigated: perception on model’s physical attractiveness as seen in television advertisement. This research was intended to examine the relationship between the perceptions on physical attractiveness of cosmetics and health products advertisement models in television with body image among adolescent girls in Jakarta. Results support calls for early educational interventions to help girls to deconstruct advertising and media images. The discussion focuses on finding and limitations of this research for implication and in the light of theoretical and methodological consideration for further research. Keywords: Perception, Physical attractiveness, Body image, Adolescence, and Girl

Abstract

Learning process and student learning outcomes have a close relationship. A good learning process improves student learning outcomes. Improvement of student learning outcomes is determined by how the learning process is done by teachers. Talking about the learning process is the same as talking about learning and teaching methods. There are many methods of teaching and  learning. The teachers and students live to have the method which is in accordance with the conditions of each class. This research tries one of interactive teaching and learning method, that is group discussion. With group discussions the students are invited to discuss lesson themes in social science subjects. To measure the increase of student learning outcomes with this group discussion method then conducted Pre Test about the students' knowledge before the learning process. After the group discussion intervention the teacher performed a Post Test. The result can be said that the teaching and learning methods with group discussion effectively to improve student learning outcomes. Abstract

Excess or lack of weight has a negative risk in children. Cross-sectional study in 3227 parents who have 5-6 years old children showed that children who have excess or lack of weight can have quality of life disorders related to physical health problems. The results of research conducted by Tapper also found that attitudes towards breakfast habits become behavioral predictions breakfast. But it turns out in fact that it is not always proven. Therefore, researchers wanted to see whether attitudes towards breakfast habits have a correlation with the level of a person's weight or not. This research used a correlation type. Participants in this study were 127 students of SD "X" in East Jakarta. Sample selection techniques used in this study was judgmental sampling. Its measurement using a scale of attitudes towards breakfast habits, adaptation of the questionnaire from Tapper, consisting of 13 items. The results of the present study was, calculate the value of r acquired (0.082), then it can be concluded that there was no correlation between attitudes towards breakfast habits with body weight levels in elementary school children.Keywords: Attitude, Breakfast, Body Weight

Abstract

Students can be motivated by many ways dan the most ultimate issue is to understand how and why students are motivated for academic achievement. Self regulated learning (SRL) is defined as a concept about how a leaner becomes the master of his own learning process. The aim of this research is to obtain the decription of self regulated learning of Psychology students of “X” University. SRL in this research was measured by using a questionnaire named Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). MSLQ is constructed by Self regulated learning by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia dan McKeachie (1991). The research method in this research is descriptive quantitative research. Total subjects in this research were 71 Psychology students who engaged studying in 2012/2013 term. The realibility of this research was 0.953. Data analyzed by Z-score and the result revealed that 34 subjects (47.88%) had low SRL, 26 subjects (36.61%) had moderate SRL, and 11 subjects (15.49%) had high SRL. Thus, this research concluded the description of SRL of Psychology students of “X” University was in low category. Keywords: Self Regulated Learning (SRL), Motivation, Learning Strategy

Abstract

The purpose of this study isto analyze the differences water conservation behavior between people in developing countries and people in developed countries based on their time perspective. People in developing countries are more less likely tend to apply the water conservation behavior than people in developed countries. These differences are predicted have correlation with their time perspective orientations. This study is using literature analysis with interpretive – qualitative approach. The results of analysis is showed that people in developing countries tend to do not apply the water conservation behavior because the impact of water crisis still has not come yet, it is related to their time perspective are present orientation. Otherwise, the people in developed countries already implemented water conservation behavior although the impact of water crisis has not happened, it is also related to theirtime perspective are future orientation. The results from this study can be use as information especially for people in developing countries to decide what they must to be react with crisis water phenomenon that predicted will be happen in their country, so can be prevent crisis water sustainably. Keywords: Time perspective, pro-environmental behavior, water conservation behavior

Abstract

Adolescence is full conflict period in the life of teens are signed by rebellion behavior dynamic and avoid order and social norms. Freedom become the main demands and family with their norms produced are seens as cause of their not free situations. Parents should be  understand  these problems as something that has to be faced, no judge them as disorder. By  the literature analysis this study recommends interpersonal communication model that is listening as the way to understand the  teens problems adequately. Abstract

Senior high school students who continue their education level to the college may face many changes, such as higher academic standards. College students are required to be independent, able to adjust their learning style with college’s tasks. As freshmen who started studying in the college therefore this research aimed to find the relationship between intellectual intelligence and work productivity of freshmen. Intellectual intelligence (IQ) has an important role in one’s ability to learn from experience, obtain knowledge, and adapt with new situations. This research also investigated the influence of intellectual intelligence towards students’ work productivity, in which would predict their study performance in the future. The measurement of IQ was measured by using Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT) and students’ work productivity was predicted by using Kraeplin test. This research method is quantitative study. The subject of this research was freshmen in Social and Science Faculty which are 1094 persons. The total subjects of this research are 779 subjects. The results revealed that there was a relationship between intellectual intelligence (IQ) and work productivity among freshmen. The amount of IQ affect towards work productivity is 10.27% and the rest was affected by another factors. The interaction of intellectual intelligence and other factors, such as students’ persistence, self-efficacy and motivation influence students’ performance for long –term result. Keywords: Intellectual Intelligence (IQ), Work Productivity, Freshmen

Abstract

Contructive learning is defined as an active learning process where students’ construct their knowledge, concept and ideas based on their prior knowledge. Students’ motivation to learn is defined as a psychological energy within the indivual student which then arouses the act of learning and learning activities. The purpose of this research is to prove whether or not there is a correlation between students’ perception on appliend concept of contructive learning by teachers’ and students’ motivation to learn. The independent variable in this study is students’ perception on applied concept of contructive learning by teachers’. The dependent variable in this study is students’ motivation to learn. The subjects involved in this research are students’ in their third year at SMU 6 Yogyakarta, age 17-19 years old, male and female, undertakes the subject of science registered in the school. The data was analyzed by the product moment technique, meanwhile observation and interviews were analyzed by means oh qualitative methods. The result of this research verifies that there is a very significant correlation between the independent and dependent variable. Whereas the coefficient correlation results are r = 0,367 and p = 0,000. This indicates that the result between two variable involved are very significant because p ‹ 0,05. Keywords : constructive learning concept, students’ learning motivation

Abstract

 ABSTRACT: The company currently recognizes two types of workforce generations based on age, namely generation X and generation Y. Both generations have different characteristics, one of them is job embeddedness. Job embeddedness rate was found the highest in an organization with collectivism. An organizational culture that is developed in various companies in Indonesia is the collectivism culture, one of them is in PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat.This study aims to (1) find out the differences in the tendency of job embeddedness on generation X and generation Y employees in terms of collectivism culture, (2) find out the differences of job embeddedness tendency in generation X and generation Y employees; (3) find out the differences of collectivism culture on generation X employees and generation Y in  PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat.This study uses 69 samples of PLTD Siantan employees. The instruments used are job embeddedness scale and collectivism culture scale. The anava result shows that there is a difference in the tendency of job embeddedness in employees of generation X and generation Y in terms of collectivism culture of PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat. The result shows that there is a difference of job embeddedness on generation X employees and generation Y employees. There are also cultural differences collectivism in generation X employees and generation Y employees. This means that hypothesis 1, hypothesis 2, and hypothesis 3 are accepted.Keywords:job embeddedness, collectivism culture,generation X and generation ABSTRAK: Perusahaan saat ini mengenal dua jenis generasi tenaga kerja berdasarkan rentang usia, yaitu generasi X dan generasi Y. Kedua generasi tersebut memiliki perbedaan karakteristik, salah satunya adalah job embeddedness. Tingkat job embeddedness ditemui paling tinggi pada organisasi dengan budaya kolektivisme. Budaya organisasi yang berkembang di berbagai perusahaan di Indonesia adalah budaya kolektivisme, salah satunya adalah PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui perbedaan kecenderungan job embeddedness pada karyawan generasi X dan Y ditinjau dari budaya kolektivisme, (2) Mengetahui perbedaan kecenderungan job embeddedness pada karyawan generasi X dan Y, (3) Mengetahui perbedaan budaya kolektivisme pada karyawan generasi X dan Y PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan seluruh anggota populasi sebanyak 69 karyawan PLT Siantan. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala job embeddedness, dan budaya kolektivisme. Berdasarkan hasil anava, menunjukkan perbedaan kecenderungan job embeddedness pada karyawan generasi X dan generasi Y ditinjau dari budaya kolektivisme PLTD Siantan, Kalimantan Barat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis perbedaan rerata menunjukkan perbedaan job embeddedness pada karyawan generasi X dan karyawan generasi Y. Selain itu, terdapat juga perbedaan budaya kolektivisme pada karyawan generasi X dan karyawan generasi Y. Abstract

The goal of this research is to see the role of remedial teaching in increasing reading capability on children with mild intellectual disability. According to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR), intellectual disability is individuals with intellectual functions significantly below average, with IQ score about 70 or lower, suffering disorders in adaptive functions in at least two areas, with onset surfacing before 18 years of age. Academically, children with intellectual disability generally suffer delays in reading, writing, and simple arithmetic. Remedial teaching can be used as one of the method to increase reading capability on children with mild intellectual disability. There are two subjects in this research, male and female. Data is collected from observations, interviews, and psychological examination. The result of this research suggests that remedial teaching is able to increase reading capability of children with mild intellectual disability. There is an increase of 27 syllables in reading capability on the first subject, while the second subject have an increase of 24 syllables, comparing between pre-test and post-test data. Keywords: children with mild intellectual disability, reading capability,remedial teaching.
