Abstract

Technological developments in the digital era have changed the communication system, including mail delivery. PT Pos Indonesia as a state-owned enterprise in the field of postal and financial services faces challenges in the form of a decrease in mail volume. However, the delivery of official documents such as power of attorney and land certificates still requires postal services because of its legality. Pos Indonesia's advantage lies in its service coverage to remote areas and operations on holidays. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with interview techniques with one Pos Indonesia employee, Fatimah Rengkuti, at the Post Office on Jl. Pelita IV, Medan. The results show that despite declining public interest, Pos Indonesia still plays an important role through digital service innovations such as the PosPay application to maintain relevance in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the discourse representation of the rape case of a female teenager by four men in Bekasi reported by three online media, namely Detik.com, Kompas.com, and Metronews.com. The analysis focuses on Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis model, which includes three dimensions: microstructure, mesostructure, and macrostructure. This research method is descriptive qualitative, with documentation as the primary data collection technique. The microstructure analysis showed that the media used confident diction choices and syntactic structures to build the image of the perpetrators and victims, such as the use of the words "smoked alcohol" and "raped in turns," which caused specific emotional effects. Microstructural analysis shows the influence of media institutional background, editorial objectives, and the writing style of each media on the form of news presentation. Meanwhile, macrostructural analysis reveals that the news cannot be separated from the influence of patriarchal culture, the legal system, and social values that develop in society. All three show that the mass media convey information and shape an event's social construction by carrying specific ideological interests.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation strategy of victims of sexual violence in online media coverage using the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach of the Theo van Leeuwen model. The object of study is five news articles from national online media, Kompas.com, Tempo.co, Merdeka.com, Detik.com, and Metrotvnews.com, that raised the case of rape by students of the Padjadjaran University specialist doctor education program (PPDS). The method used is descriptive qualitative with critical discourse text analysis techniques, including exclusion and inclusion strategies, such as passivation, nominalization, objectivation, identification, and assimilation. The results showed that in most news, the perpetrators were described explicitly by mentioning their social status and institutional affiliation. At the same time, the victims were often presented vaguely and subordinated in the sentence structure. This finding shows that the media has not fully sided with the perspective of victims, so the news has the potential to influence public perceptions of victims of sexual violence negatively. The implications of this research are recommended as teaching materials for news texts in Indonesian language learning at the high school level to form media literacy and students' critical perspectives on the issue of sexual violence.

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in the entire learning journey, every teaching and learning activity is directed toward fulfilling the goals established in the educational program. The merdeka curriculum emphasizes individualized assessments to address the diverse needs of students. however, its effectiveness in fully accommodating the varying characteristics of each student remains uncertain. Underlining the importance of ongoing assessment and refinement. this qualitative descriptive study integrates a literature review and in-depth interviews to examine the implementation of the independent curriculum from the perspectives of elementary school teachers. five participants were purposively selected—experienced teachers from public and private elementary schools in north sumatra—based on their enrollment in a learning evaluation course during their master’s program. through in-depth interviews, the study captures their reflections, experiences, and challenges in applying the curriculum in classroom settings. this study found that  learning evaluation is an indispensable element of effective education. it is not only used to assess student achievement but also to improve the quality of the teaching process. since each evaluation method has its own advantages and limitations, teachers must wisely combine and balance different strategies to create a more inclusive, fair, and continuous learning experience for all students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Bode Riswandi's monologue drama, “Satan Comes on Time,” through the lens of feminist theory. The play tells the story of a marginalized woman who works as a sex worker and voices her inner struggle and social criticism of stigma, gender inequality, and the patriarchal system. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, focusing on the representation of women, power relations, and social criticism in the text. The results of the analysis show that this text has five main elements of feminism, which are rooted in feminist theory, namely stereotypes of women, unequal power relations, reflective consciousness of female characters, the metaphor of the “devil” as a symbol of capitalism and patriarchy, and criticism of inequality in access to education and employment. Through this monologue, the voices of women who are often silenced appear as a narrative of resistance that touches and opens space for awareness of the importance of gender justice.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low ability of students in writing argumentation in its elements. This can be seen from the assignment given that there is still a lack of connection between the substance and reality, making the content of the argumentation conveyed ambiguous to the reader. The goal is to develop a theoretical model of socio-scientific-based language learning. The issues or problems used are adjusted to the concept or theory of language in use, such as the issue of hate speech in forensic linguistics, the issue of cultural immersion in anthropolinguistics, and so on. This type of research is development research, which develops research products and is tested on a test class. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Medan City, which contained a research sample of 35 students. The products tested were SCC-based language learning model books, teachers' books, and students' books. The research instruments used consisted of a/questionnaire, an interview guide, and an observation guide. Data analysis was done qualitatively and quantitatively according to the type of data obtained. The results of this study indicate that the research products tested in both limited and large classes achieved an expert validation percentage of 89.42% and a practicality value of 81.95%. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the model is evident from the increase in student learning activities.

Abstract

This research analyzes the lyrics of the song “Cundamani” by Denny Caknan using Peirce's semiotic approach, which involves the concepts of icon, index, and symbol. The purpose of this research is to reveal the deep meaning in the song lyrics through the identification and interpretation of linguistic signs. This song was chosen because it contains some lyrics that contain symbolic meanings that can be analyzed using Peirce's semiotic approach. The method used is a qualitative analysis of the song lyrics, where data is collected through translation and classification of icons, indices, and symbols. The results show that the meaning of the song “Cundamani” is built through the interaction between the signs. Icons in the lyrics, such as tears and light, represent real objects, while signifiers associate feelings with actions, and symbols refer to social concepts such as love and hope. The star symbol, for example, depicts guidance and support in the face of life's difficulties. In conclusion, this semiotic analysis reveals the emotional, spiritual and relational messages contained in the song, including the theme of love.
