Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and self-confidence on the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students. Mathematics is often considered a difficult subject, and this perception is influenced by both instructional methods and students’ psychological attributes, such as self-confidence. A quantitative approach with a 2×2 factorial design was employed. The sample consisted of 80 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling from several junior high schools. Students were categorized based on teaching method (CTL vs. conventional) and levels of self-confidence (high vs. low). Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA. The results showed that both CTL and self-confidence had a significant effect on mathematics achievement (F = 8.92, p < 0.05 and F = 11.21, p < 0.05, respectively). Furthermore, there was a significant interaction between teaching method and self-confidence (F = 6.98, p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the implementation of CTL is more effective for students with high self-confidence and that students’ psychological readiness plays an important role in academic success. This research implies that mathematics learning should not only focus on instructional strategy but also on developing students’ self-confidence. Integrating CTL with efforts to enhance student confidence can significantly improve mathematics learning outcomes in junior high schools.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of social media campaign strategies on voters’ voting intention in Tangerang Regency during the 2024 Legislative Election. Social media serves as a vital platform in political communication, enabling political parties and legislative candidates to reach voters more broadly and interactively. The focus of this research is on the campaign strategy of Desy Nike Ria, a legislative candidate from the Perindo Party, candidate number one for the Banten Provincial Parliament (DPRD), representing Tangerang Regency. The study specifically examines the intensity of social media usage, user engagement, and the effectiveness of political messages. This research uses a quantitative approach with primary data collected through a questionnaire distributed to 104 respondents who met the established criteria. The study's scope is limited to the analysis of Desy Nike Ria's campaign and does not cover other factors that may influence voting intention, such as conventional media exposure, economic conditions, or individual voter characteristics. It also does not explore the long-term effects after the election. The results show that the effectiveness of political messages and user engagement on social media significantly influence voting intention. Voters are more likely to be persuaded when campaign messages are clear, engaging, and communicative. Intensity of exposure to political content alone does not have a significant impact, suggesting that message quality is more critical than frequency. These findings offer empirical insight into how digital political communication can shape electoral behavior and provide practical recommendations for candidates and political parties in crafting more effective social media strategies.

Abstract

During its service life, a building structure must be capable of withstanding the applied forces, which refers to its structural capacity. Beyond capacity, the structure must also be evaluated in terms of its probability of failure under loading conditions, a concept known as structural reliability. This study aims to analyze the reliability of reinforced concrete beam elements in buildings functioning as lecture facilities. The First Order Second Moment (FOSM) method was selected due to its effectiveness in incorporating statistical uncertainty into structural analysis, particularly for engineering problems involving variability in loads and resistance. The research was conducted through numerical analysis, which involved several key stages: (1) determining internal forces (bending and shear) from structural analysis, (2) collecting and assigning statistical parameters—namely, the mean and standard deviation—of dead loads, live loads, and material resistance, and (3) computing the reliability index for each beam element using the FOSM approach. The input data were derived from structural design specifications and relevant statistical references for load and material properties. The analysis results show that the maximum flexural reliability index values for beams B1, B2, RB, and SL are 8.29, 7.92, 7.62, and 8.34, respectively, while the maximum shear reliability index values are 3.96, 3.80, 4.29, and 4.28. All calculated values exceed the target reliability indices of 3.75 for new buildings and 2.75 for existing buildings, both for flexural and shear capacities. These findings indicate that the structural reliability of the analyzed beams is within a high and acceptable safety range.
