Abstract

Low learning motivation is one of the main obstacles in mathematics education, particularly due to the abstract nature of the subject, which often causes students to become passive and less enthusiastic. This study aims to improve students’ motivation in learning mathematics through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Denpasar. The research employed a classroom action research (CAR) approach, conducted over two learning cycles. The study involved 41 students as participants. Data were collected through observations and learning motivation questionnaires. The results showed an increase in students’ learning motivation from an initial 38% to 70% in the first cycle and 91% in the second cycle. This improvement indicates that the application of the PBL model significantly enhances students’ active participation and enthusiasm in learning mathematics. Therefore, PBL can be considered an effective instructional strategy to address low learning motivation in mathematics among junior high school students.

Abstract

Pada era globalisasi saat ini, perubahan yang sangat pesat dialami oleh tatanan kehidupan masyarakat. Masyarakat dihadapkan pada perkembangan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi (IPTEK) yang begitu pesat kemajuannya. Saat ini juga sudah sangat banyak dilakukan pseembaharuan teknologi di tengah-tengah kehidupan masyarakat di berbagai bidang kehidupan. Sebagai contoh di bidang Pendidikan, masyarakat yang langsung menggunakan dan memanfaatkannya ialah para pendidik dan para mahasiswa, tepatnya pada bidang ilmu Matematika. Harapan besar pun muncul dari semakin berkembangnya teknologi di bidang pendidikan ini, yakni menjadikan proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih mudah dipahami dan dapat diinterpretasikan langsung dalam kehidupan sehari - hari. Tentunya hal tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa sehingga berpengaruh langsung terhadap kemajuan prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Namun, fakta di lapangan masih banyak ditemukan mahasiswa yang masih belum mau aktif ataupun antusias untuk  memanfaatkan penggunaan teknologi tersebut sehingga menyebabkan proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan di kelas terasa sulit dan membosankan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kemajuan teknologi terhadap motivasi belajar dan prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Penggunaan pemodelan persamaan struktural dengan analisis datanya menggunakan analisis jalur ialah metode analisis data yang digunakan. Setelah dilakukan pengolahan data statistik menggunakan Software STATCAL, diketahui hasil penelitian berupa nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,824. Nilai tersebut menyatakan bahwa kemajuan teknologi dan motivasi belajar memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan secara kausal terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa.

Abstract

This research is part of an experimental study using Problem Based Learning model to improve junior high school students' mathematical numeracy skills based on ethnomathematics. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of Validity, Reliability, Difficulty Index, and Discriminatory Power of the ethnomathematics-based numeracy ability test instrument for junior high school students. The instrument used was in the form of essay test questions from pretest and posttest questions. The calculation of validity, reliability, difficulty index, and discriminatory power used IBM SPSS Statistics 20. The results of this study showed that the pretest and posttest questions were valid with sig (2-tailed) values 0.05. The calculation results of the pretest questions showed that the essay question instrument fell into the reliable category, because the calculation result obtained was 0.690, making it suitable for use as an instrument for data collection. The difficulty level of pretest and posttest questions fell into the easy and moderate categories. The discriminatory power criteria of the questions were moderate and good. Based on these research results, the ethnomathematics-based student numeracy ability test instrument is suitable for use.

Abstract

Inadequate infrastructure and facilities can have a detrimental effect on teacher effectiveness and student learning motivation. Therefore, schools need to have a structured and sustainable facilities and infrastructure management system. In this case, the school should continuously analyse the facilities and infrastructure management system that has been implemented at SMP Panca Budi Medan and identify areas that need improvement. In this research, the author uses Qualitative Research Method by using observation approach and conducting direct interview with the Principal to find out information about facilities and infrastructure in SMP Panca Budi.The instrument used in this research is using observation sheet which consists of four aspects, namely: Based on the results of observations carried out at SMP Panca Budi Medan, there are several things that can be concluded, namely: the availability of facilities and infrastructure in the school is complete; the condition of the available facilities is good after comparing the availability and ideal needs; the condition of the available infrastructure is good, although there is one aspect that needs to be added, namely toilets; and that SMP Panca Budi Medan already has inventory documents and long-term development planning so that it will facilitate school development.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the learning styles of Mathematics Education students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Nias University in completing project-based assignments. The background of this study is based on the fact that each student has a different learning style tendency, which has a direct impact on the strategy and results of completing assignments. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of the study consisted of seven active students who were selected purposively based on their involvement in lecture project assignments. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that students have a tendency towards three main learning styles, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Students with a visual style prefer the presentation of information graphically and systematically. Auditory students tend to understand the material through discussion and verbal explanation, while kinesthetic students are more active in assignments that involve direct practice. These variations in learning styles affect the way students plan, work on, and complete project assignments. It was also found that group work is more effective when each member has a complementary learning style. This study concludes that understanding students' learning styles is important for lecturers to consider in designing project-based assignments. With the right approach, the learning process will be more inclusive and meaningful for each individual.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan: 1) Untuk mendeskripsikan self confidence siswa di kelas V SDN 42 Singkawang, 2) Untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis sisiwa di kelas V SDN 42 Singkawang, 3) Untuk mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan antara self confidence dengan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas V di SDN 42 Singkawang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Desain penelitian menggunakan desain korelasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SD Negeri 42 Singkawang. Sampel menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan jenis random sampling yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan angket self confidence. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji deskriptif persentase dan uji korelasi person product moment dengan menggunakan excel dan SPSS 27. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: 1) self confidence siswa berada pada kategori sedang dengan persentase sebesar 58%, 2) kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa berada pada kategori sangat kurang dengan nilai rata-rata 57, 3) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self confidence dengan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Nilai korelasi sebesar 0,903 dan koefisien korelasi berada pada kategori sangat tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of the process and learning outcomes of mathematics in the volume of building space through the use of student worksheet based Augmented Reality for students in grade V of UPTD SD Negeri 77 Parepare. This research uses a qualitative approach and the type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The focus of this research is the learning process and learning outcomes. This research was carried out at UPTD SD Negeri 77 Parepare for the 2024/2025 school year with the subject of this research being 1 classroom teacher and 20 students consisting of 8 males and 12 females. The research was carried out in two cycles, each of which consisted of two meetings which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection techniques used are observation, tests and documentation. The data was analyzed using data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. In cycle I, the results of the study showed that the learning process of teachers' activities and the learning process of students increased to the qualification of sufficient to good with a percentage of 73.33% to 86.66% and 72.59% to 78.66%. Then, the learning outcomes of students are at the Sufficient qualification with a percentage of 70%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, it showed that the learning process of teachers' activities and the learning process of students increased to good qualifications with a percentage of 93.33% and 85.83% to 86.66%. Then, the learning outcomes of students increased to the good qualification with a percentage of 80%. So it can be concluded that using student worksheet based Augmented Reality in mathematics subjects can improve the learning process and learning outcomes of students in class V SD Negeri 77 Parepare.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Computational Thinking (CT) abilities of prospective mathematics teacher students enrolled in the Teacher Professional Education Program at Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, CT abilities were examined based on four main indicators: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking. Data were collected through contextual open-ended tests, perception questionnaires, and limited interviews involving 24 PPG students. The results showed that, in general, students' CT abilities fell into the moderate category, with the highest achievement in pattern recognition and the lowest in abstraction. Most students had never received explicit instruction in CT, yet acknowledged that this approach helped them solve mathematical problems more systematically. These findings highlight the importance of explicitly integrating CT skills into mathematics education curricula through problem-based and digital literacy-oriented learning approaches. The study recommends strengthening instructional strategies to develop students’ systematic and logical thinking abilities as future mathematics educators.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan alat peraga puzzle terhadap hasil belajar matematika pada materi pecahan di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimen dengan metode Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 59 siswa kelas IV yang dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes pretest dan posttest, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji-t untuk menguji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar matematika siswa yang menggunakan alat peraga puzzle dengan yang tidak menggunakan. Rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen (80,00) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (69,66) dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (0,05). Dengan demikian, penggunaan alat peraga puzzle efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika pada materi pecahan. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar guru dapat memanfaatkan media pembelajaran interaktif seperti puzzle untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This research discusses the harmonious chromatic number on the Cartesian product of a path graph with three vertices (P_3) and a star graph with n vertices (S_n). Harmonious coloring is a vertex coloring of a graph such that each pair of colors appears on at most one edge. The objective of this research is to develop a harmonious coloring algorithm and also to determine and prove a general formula for the harmonious chromatic number of the graph P_3×S_n. The research method is literature-based with a mathematical approach, start from constructing modified adjacency matrices until testing the coloring algorithm. The proof is conducted through mathematical induction and structural graph analysis. The result shows that the harmonious chromatic number of P_3×S_n for n=1 is 5, for n=2,3 is 7, for n=4 is 8, whereas for n≥5, it is n+3.
