Abstract

Abstract

PT. X is a well-known pastry company due to its consistent flavors and high product quality. PT. X saw a decrease in sales while competing businesses saw an increase. Based on the results of the preliminary questionnaire from 33 customers, it is known that customer satisfaction is a factor influencing the decline in sales experienced by PT X. The aim of this research is to identify the factors that influence customer satisfaction and the gap between consumers and management at PT. X and provide recommendations for improving PT. X's service quality to compete with similar companies. This study used an importance-performance analysis, a customer satisfaction index, and a gap analysis to enhance service quality. The findings showed that the customer satisfaction index had a value of 66.78% and that the Cartesian diagram of importance-performance analysis contained seven attributes in quadrant 1, indicating that these attributes require development. The gap analysis results indicate that all attributes have a negative gap value. To increase customer satisfaction, service quality must be improved based on the overall results of data processing. Making SOPs for employees, offering appealing promotions to customers, and rewarding and punishing employees for their efforts are among the recommendations made.

Abstract

The existence of shoe racks has become one of the needs in every residential house and certain building facilities. So far, the design of shoe racks is often neglected both in terms of design and also moisture considerations. Shoes stored in a storage area are susceptible to fungal growth triggered by high humidity in them and can shorten the life of shoes. This study aims to find out the influence of shoe rack design in this case is the ventilation applied to the shelf door design against the moisture inside, so that the shoe rack can function optimally. Humidity measurements were made on 3 shoe racks with 3 door hole design modifications. Modification 1 is a door without ventilation holes, modification 2 is a door with ventilation on part of the door and modification 3 is a door with ventilation on the entire door. Based on the results of humidity measurements on the three modifications, it was obtained that the larger the ventilation holes on the rack, the lower the humidity in it.

Abstract

A business feasibility analysis is necessary to conduct to determine whether a business is viable and to enhance its quality and quantity. The analysis included (1) technical, (2) marketing, (3) management and organizational, and (4) financial. This study uses a business feasibility analysis to determine the viability of new MSME businesses named KAOSI. Based on the research conducted, it has been determined that the KAOSI is considered feasible because it meets the following criteria: (1) technical aspect, such as operating in a strategic location; (2) marketing aspect, such as having a unique selling proposition that is not currently held by any competing products; (3) financial aspect, KAOSI has a business NPV value of IDR 4,158,829.4, an IRR value of 40,9%, a PP value of 1.79 years, and a PI value of 1.98, which indicates that this business is financially feasible. However, in terms of management and organization, only the management aspect can be met by KAOSI, its organizational structure is deemed impractical due to its management's extensive responsibilities.

Abstract

This paper addressed the problem of high waiting time in a petro-chemical industry in Indonesia. According to Pareto diagram, the procurement process at the industry showed that the number of fast moving item transactions was more than 70% or 19,836 item transactions with 2,524 fast moving material items. The activity of making Purchase Requisition (PR) until the issuance of Purchase Order (PO) for fast moving items required a cycle time of 71.2 days. The highest waste was waiting with a weight of 0.248 and a total of 17 waste items from 27 sub-activities. The average value of sigma for 6 years was 1.79. The application of lean six sigma and MAFMA found that the dominant causes of waste were unfulfilled specified demand and long delivery time. We proposed improvements by enhancing monitoring processes and submitting a contract agreement for the procurement of fast moving spare parts.

Abstract

A third-party producer, Company A, partners with a multinational corporation to package and transport the finished goods produced for its customers. To meet customer demand, Company A must maintain a considerably low lead time and an adequate level of inventory. To reduce lead times and non-value-added (NVA) activity times the warehouse operations, especially in inbound processes at an SME Manufacturing Facility, this research intends to analyze the impact of implementing lean manufacturing. Lead time and NVA time for the current operation are 9045 minutes and 275 minutes, respectively. Value stream mapping (VSM) is selected as the tool to identify process waste and launch an improvement strategy to achieve the research objective. The creation of the current state mapping and evaluation of the future state mapping will be the first steps in the implementation approaches. The proposed improvements include creating and implementing a VBA application as a data entry form for supplier shipment booking, an information system for material reception, an operational report, and remodeling the staging area by incorporating a gravity roller. The lead time is decreased by 5% as the improvement strategy is put into action, while the NVA time is dramatically decreased by 47.27%.  The research conclusions are thus recognized as noteworthy and beneficial in advancing the understanding of the role of value stream mapping methods in improving inbound warehouse performance in SMEs.

Abstract

Improving productivity and performance is a continuous process in all manufacturing companies. Since a product fabrication process mostly consists of many production and work steps, there is always an opportunity for small improvement. If conducted consistently and continually, a series of small improvements can yield a considerable increase in overall productivity and performance. In this paper, the effort undertaken in an automotive spare part manufacturing company to reduce downtime due to the dandori process is presented. Dandori is the installation or setup required between the production of two different spare part types. The setup includes stocking in incomplete lots of product, or the cripple parts, of one type and stocking out the cripple parts of the other. The existing dandori process consisted of 12 steps and required 190.2 seconds. The development of a storage management system was proposed to reduce the downtime required to fill the production check sheets and to find the correct drawer in the storage room. The new dandori process consists of 19 steps and requires 140.4 seconds. The manual check sheet filling was replaced with QR code scanning and data input on a computer, while the manual finding of the correct drawer was assisted by the LED indicators. Production data for the duration 4 months before and 4 months after the improvement was analyzed. The availability rate of the process increases from 84.87% to 89.34%, and the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) increases from 73.11% to 78.37%. The obvious increases encourage further continuous improvement cycle in the company.
