Abstract

In the current learning process, technology represents one of the systematic efforts in designing, implementing, and evaluating the entire learning process for a specific objective, combined with human resources to ensure that learning occurs effectively. Learning outcomes refer to the changes that occur in students after undergoing the learning process. History teachers at MAS Tahfidz Rokan Hulu have been effectively utilizing educational media derived from current technological developments during classroom instruction; however, the use of media remains lacking in variety. The objectives of this study are: (1) to examine the use of the Google Earth application in the history subject for Grade X at MAS Tahfidz Rokan Hulu, (2) to identify the effect of using the Google Earth application in history lessons on the learning outcomes of Grade X students at MAS Tahfidz Rokan Hulu, and (3) to understand the responses of Grade X students at MAS Tahfidz Rokan Hulu toward the use of the Google Earth application in history learning. This study uses a quantitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis techniques employed are product-moment correlation and simple correlation analysis, using the variable of Google Earth application usage (X) and learning outcomes (Y). The statistical test results using SPSS for variable X (the influence of using Google Earth-based learning media) show a t-value = 5.887 > 2.002 = t-table, and sig = 0.000 < 5%. Therefore, H₀ is rejected. This means that the variable concerning the influence of using Google Earth-based learning media has a statistically significant effect on the dependent variable, which is students' history learning outcomes.

Abstract

In teaching and learning activities in the scope of non-formal education, a teacher must understand and must be able to provide encouragement so that students have a rapid interest in practical activities in studying dance. Not a few non-formal education units are less able to provide understanding and methods in learning interesting practices, so a comprehensive solution lies in the teaching system in managing a scope that makes it an effective and comfortable place both from the perspective of strategies, models and methods in carrying out learning. The discussion of the research refers to the implementation of methods in dance learning. The learning method is a method that is differentiated by adjusting the needs of students, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic. This method is associated with krump-style hip-hop dance. The learning includes how to learn and techniques on the dance learning material. This research approach is qualitative on the basis of descriptive methods with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and document studies.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of biblical values and women’s empowerment in community-based environmental stewardship through the Waste Bank program at Getsemani Church in Manado, Indonesia. Rapid urbanization and inadequate waste management have intensified ecological and social challenges, including flooding and public health risks. While faith communities are increasingly recognized as potential agents of sustainability, the role of theological motivation and gender dynamics in environmental actions remains underexplored. This study aims to analyze how biblical principles inform ecological practices and how women’s participation contributes to the effectiveness and sustainability of local waste management initiatives. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining qualitative case studies, participatory action research, quantitative surveys, and theological literature analysis. Data were collected from 25 key informants and 100 survey respondents supported by field observations and document reviews. The findings indicate that values such as stewardship (Genesis 2:15) and creation care (Psalm 24:1) serve as strong moral motivators, with a positive correlation (Pearson’s r = 0.68) between biblical literacy and program participation. Women constituted 75% of active participants, driving operational success, economic returns (average IDR 4.5/month), and community engagement. Their involvement has led to a 35% reduction in landfill-bound waste and improved drainage conditions, thus mitigating localized flooding. Furthermore, the program enhanced women’s financial autonomy and social recognition within the church and the broader community. The study concludes that faith-based environmental initiatives, when rooted in theological convictions and inclusive of women’s leadership, can generate tangible ecological, economic, and social impacts. This model offers a replicable framework for urban churches seeking to respond to ecological crises through spiritually grounded, community led action.

Abstract

This study investigates the interconnection between ecological sin and environmental crisis in Kali Village, Minahasa, where recurring landslides and flooding are symptoms of deeper moral, spiritual, and structural failures. Despite the growing environmental degradation driven by deforestation, unsustainable land conversion, and waste mismanagement, community and ecclesial awareness of ecological responsibility remains limited. Drawing on qualitative case study methods, the research employed in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, field observations, and document analysis with 30 participants, including church leaders, congregants, local residents, and environmental activists. Thematic analysis revealed that environmental destruction is not merely a technical issue but a manifestation of extractive capitalism, weak local governance, and disconnection between Christian doctrine and ecological practice. While the Church holds significant moral authority, its response has largely been charitable and reactive, failing to address systemic injustices or integrate ecological sin into theological teaching. Many congregants perceive environmental harm as an economic necessity rather than a spiritual transgression, reflecting their fragmented understanding of stewardship. The study further identifies a critical gap between the church’s potential as a transformative agent and its current inaction, particularly in advocating policy change or empowering communities through ecological education. The findings underscore that ecological degradation is inseparable from social injustice, where vulnerable groups bear the brunt of decisions made by external actors and indifferent institutions. The research concludes that a theological reframing is urgently needed one that redefines the church’s mission as intrinsically ecological. To be credible, the church must move beyond symbolic stewardship and embrace a prophetic and participatory role in environmental restoration, grounding its mission in justice, accountability, and creation care.

Abstract

This study aims to trace the origins of history education. The research question raised is: How did history emerge as a school subject? This question intrinsically also raises other related questions, such as when, where, and who the figures were who gave birth to history as a school subject. This research is a literature review using historical methods. The source collection was conducted by copying and downloading digitally available sources, including both primary and secondary sources. The results indicate that history first became a school subject in the early 19th century in Prussia (present-day Germany). The figure who initiated and implemented the policy was Wilhelm von Humboldt, who at the time was an official at the Ministry of the Interior. History education was given the responsibility to use knowledge of the past as a medium for the formation of the whole person (Bildung). This responsibility makes history education more a part of the historical culture that developed in society, rather than a subordinate to the science of history, tasked with reconstructing past events.

Abstract

Abstract This study explores the revitalization of church music within the Minahasa Evangelical Christian Church (GMIM) through the lens of creative economy, identifying opportunities, and formulating contextually grounded development strategies. Despite rich musical traditions and high congregational competence in choral and traditional performances, these assets remain underutilized as economic resources because of the absence of professional management, digital infrastructure, and institutional policies. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, direct observations, and document analysis across selected GMIM congregations in Minahasa. Thematic analysis revealed four key opportunity domains: physical products, digital content, performance services, and strategic collaboration. While digital platforms and inter-institutional partnerships offer high economic potential, their implementation is hindered by their limited technical capacity, copyright awareness, and formal revenue-sharing mechanisms. The findings indicate that current music-related activities are primarily driven by spiritual and communal motives, with economic benefits remaining incidental rather than systemic. To address this, this study proposes a four-pillar development framework of management, production, marketing, and values centered on the establishment of a church-based creative unit (“Bait Musica”), capacity-building programs, digitalization, and cultural preservation. Strategic initiatives, such as an annual Minahasan Sacred Music Festival, cooperative-based distribution, and monetized digital content, are recommended to ensure sustainability and inclusivity. Crucially, the model emphasizes ethical commercialization, ensuring that economic development aligns with spiritual integrity and communal values. This study contributes to the discourse on faith-based creative economies by demonstrating how religious institutions can serve as catalysts for local economic empowerment without compromising cultural or theological authenticity. The proposed framework offers a replicable model for other religious communities seeking to transform sacred art into sustainable community-driven enterprises.

Abstract

The development of study tours as one of the pillars of the local tourism industry faces challenges, particularly in West Java, due to the instructions from the Governor of West Java. Meanwhile, the ban on study tours was also initiated by the high cost, which became a burden for some parents, especially those from middle and lower-income families. From an economic perspective, the ban on study tours also impacts the contribution of the local tourism sector. This research uses a qualitative and quantitative (mixed methods) approach. During the research and data collection phase, preliminary research, observations, and data gathering were conducted. Primary data was obtained from the results of distributing questionnaires to tourism business operators and in-depth interviews with key informants. Secondary data was obtained from literature studies. Meanwhile, data analysis refers to quantitative descriptive and Nvivo 12 data processing for qualitative data. The results show that the Development of Local Economies - local income is the most affected variable, with a 91% impact. This aligns with the ban and study tours, which have affected local income around tourist attractions.

Abstract

This study examines the potential of Gending Bapang Malang, a traditional Javanese gamelan piece, as a relaxation intervention for adolescents experiencing anxiety. Using a quasi-experimental pre-test post-test control group design, sixty adolescents aged 15–18 years were recruited and divided into two groups: an experimental group (n=30) exposed to Gending Bapang Malang and a control group (n=30) exposed to modern instrumental music of similar tempo. Anxiety levels were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), while physiological responses were assessed via Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Semi-structured interviews were also conducted to capture subjective experiences. Results indicated a significant reduction in anxiety scores in the experimental group (Δ = -6.7, p < 0.01), compared to a non-significant reduction in the control group (Δ = -1.9, p = 0.072). HRV increased substantially in the experimental group (+16.6 ms, p < 0.01), while the control group showed minimal improvement. Musicological analysis revealed that Gending Bapang features a slow tempo (68 bpm), repetitive gong cycles, and low-frequency resonance, which contribute to relaxation effects. Qualitative findings highlighted feelings of calmness, improved sleep, enhanced focus, and cultural pride among participants. These results suggest that Gending Bapang Malang is an effective, culturally grounded intervention for reducing adolescent anxiety, offering both psychological and physiological benefits. Its integration into school counseling and community-based mental health programs holds promise for culturally responsive mental health care in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the role of women in the Maengket dance-based creative economy in Minahasa, North Sulawesi, focusing on their economic contributions, welfare outcomes, and the structural challenges they face. Employing a mixed-methods design, data were collected through surveys with 20 female practitioners, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation. The findings reveal that while women constitute the core workforce in Maengket performance, costume production, and training, their economic recognition remains limited. Most respondents are young (19–35 years), educated (75% at least high school graduates), and have been involved for over three years, yet average annual income from performances ranges between IDR 390,000 and IDR 520,000—far below regional living standards. Income instability, lack of formal financial systems, and exclusion from decision-making processes underscore their marginalization in the value chain. Despite the high demand for cultural performances nationally and internationally, women face barriers, including limited digital literacy, minimal access to capital, and male-dominated event management structures. Thematic analysis highlights the dual burden of cultural and domestic responsibilities, as well as aspirations for entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and collective economic models such as cooperatives. The SWOT analysis further identifies strong cultural capital and networked studios as strategic assets, while dependence on government events, weak branding, and insufficient innovation constrain sustainability. This study contributes to the literature on gender and creative economies by demonstrating how cultural production, despite being central to identity and tourism, often fails to translate into equitable economic outcomes for women. This calls for inclusive policies that integrate financial inclusion, digital empowerment, and gender-responsive cultural governance. The study concludes that the sustainable development of traditional arts requires not only cultural preservation but also the formal recognition and economic empowerment of women as key agents of the creative economy.
