The purpose of this activity is to add information and strengthen mother's knowledge in understanding stunting, prevention and how to provide proper feeding patterns to children. In addition, it equips mothers with skills and motivates them to process healthy fishbased food into delicious, healthy and of course nutritious catfish nuggets in a way that is easy to do through cooking classes. This was done by looking at the phenomenon of the problem from the results of the research conducted which found field data that the incidence of stunting in children in Margaluyu Village, the Working Area of the Kasemen Health Center has increased every year. This activity was attended by 17 mothers and toddlers in one of the village cadres' houses. The stages of the activities carried out in the education class were in the form of giving questionnaires to explore the mother's knowledge and feeding patterns (pre-test), then measuring the growth curve with a microtoise and checking the development of toddlers using the KPSP. Followed by giving material for 25 minutes and a question and answer process and evaluation. The second stage was carried out 1 week later with a series of activities in the form of a cooking class for processed MPASI side dishes in the form of catfish nuggets by conducting direct demonstrations to mothers with stunting toddlers who previously carried out a post test first with the same questionnaire. The evaluation stage is by conducting follow-up through village cadres regarding knowledge and patterns of feeding to mothers whether there have been changes, mothers' ability to make processed catfish nuggets independently at their respective homes and given them routinely to children. The final stage is to carry out follow-up which is still ongoing regarding the improvement of the child's growth curve measured for 3 months.

Abstract

The activity aims to provide training related to the production of processed food using catfish meat as the main ingredient. Catfish meat has a fine texture and a slightly pale color, allowing it to be categorized as white meat, similar to chicken. Its high protein content and unsaturated fatty acids make catfish meat beneficial for maintaining tissue health, cellular formation, and brain intelligence. Catfish meat is highly recommended for consumption by children in the growth phase, especially toddlers. With its high protein content, low cholesterol level, tender muscle fibers, and more affluent organoleptic properties, catfish meat is preferred by consumers. Efforts to utilize catfish meat have included training on diversifying food products made from catfish meat. Since 2021, the Sariwangi Village Government has collaborated with the Faculty of Engineering at Pasundan University, starting from developing nanobubble technology for catfish farming and focusing more on training for processing products using catfish meat by the year 2023. The intended outcome of this activity is processed food products made from catfish meat that are ready for the market. The products developed are expected to serve as the foundation for a village-owned business unit.

Abstract

Nagari Batubulek is one of the sugarcane plantation areas in Tanah Datar regency, West Sumatra province, Indonesia. In nagari Batubulek itself, the “Marapalam Indah” farmer group processes sugar cane using a pressing machine and has 10 stoves to cook the cane into cane sugar. Every day this farmer group processes 750 kg of sugarcane into approximately 75 kg of cane sugar and 250 kg of bagasse. Currently, the bagasse produced is burned, as a result the smoke from the burning disturbs workers and pollutes the surrounding environment. Based on the results of interviews with the heads of farmer groups and several visits to the location of the kitchen for making sugar cane, it was found that the partner's problem was that farmers' knowledge in environmental sanitation were still low. The solution offered is to increase the knowledge and skills of partner communities to process bagasse into useful materials and to improve the sanitation of a clean kitchen environment through ongoing training and assistance. After the training and counseling, it was seen that the knowledge of environmental sanitation from the farmer groups had increased.

Abstract

Kampoeng Sembada Ukir Petekeyan is located in Petekeyan Village, Tahunan District, Jepara Regency, Central Java . Most of the people in Petekeyan Village make a living as craftsmen in the furniture/carving furniture industry. The handicraft commodities are interior products (cabinets, dining chairs, guest chairs, etc.) and exterior products (garden chairs, patio chairs). The cultural identity of the handicraft-producing community is inherited by the process of enculturation of soft skills. Currently, the management of wood waste from the furniture industry has not been optimal. The problem experienced by partners is the unplanned disposal of industrial waste making the slum environment and some supporting facilities and infrastructure less functional, such as the disposal of wood waste on the shoulder of the road and drainage channels that clog the flow of water so that it overflows into the road and the road section becomes damaged. Thus, there is a need for effective wood waste management so that settlements become healthy and livable. The methods used in service at woodworkers are socialization and training, discussions and workshops. The results of this activity are 1) knowledge of wood craftsmen in wood waste management has increased and 2) partners have skills and experience in making innovative educational media products made from wood waste that are of economic value.

Abstract

There is no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out at the start of 2020, had an influence on Indonesia's family economy, both positively and negatively. A decline in family income levels is one of the COVID-19 pandemic's negative effects on Indonesian families, although there are also beneficial effects, such as increased usage of digital technologies worldwide, including in Indonesia. Teaching women how to be productive without having to leave the house while still being able to fulfil their responsibilities as mothers is one of the answers suggested by academics from Singaperbangsa Karawang University. This time at the community service, the volunteer proposes a way to improve mothers' knowledge by giving them training in operating digital stores using their social media. This service will be provided to mothers who are members of the Bandung Regency Family Empowerment and Welfare Group of mothers. Participants in this programme should gain an understanding of how women can manage digital shops to boost family income.

Abstract

Food availability can be defined as a condition where the available food comes from domestic production, food supply, and food income, including imports and food aid, when some important food sources cannot meet their needs. One of the basic human needs is food that must be available and consumed every day to meet needs and sustain life. Food can be more easily accessed if the food is available in quantity and quality that meets the needs of the community. This study aims to determine the condition of food availability and food expectancy patterns in Medan City. The methods used in this study are qualitative methods and description approaches. The result obtained is that food production in the city of Medan has changed from year to year. The availability of most widely available food for consumption is rice amounting to 334.52 grams/capita/day. While the type of food consumed the least is garlic amounting to 1.91 grams/capita/day. The existing community's PPH score value is still below the maximum PPH score, however, it has improved in quality and quantity, which is 92.9. Efforts that can be made to increase food availability are by directing OPD related to community consumption which focuses on B2SA-based household consumption practices.

Abstract

Stunting is a major issue affecting children's growth and development, particularly cognitive function, which impacts future human resources. Therefore, effective handling of stunting is essential. Muara Enim Regency, in South Sumatra, has a high prevalence of stunting. The 2018 Riskesdas reported a 34.4% stunting rate in Muara Enim, higher than both South Sumatra (32%) and the national average (30.8%). In 2021, the prevalence was 29.7%, making it the third highest in South Sumatra. Research by Susyani et al. (2022) found that 9.6% of children under five in Muara Enim were very short, and 23.5% were short. Additionally, 62.1% of toddlers visited the integrated services post less than 8 times a year. To address this, community service activities were carried out to refresh the skills of integrated services post cadres. The aim was to increase their knowledge and abilities in monitoring child growth, screening the nutritional status of toddlers, women of childbearing age, and pregnant women, to prevent and reduce stunting. After the training, there was a 19.9-point increase in cadres' knowledge. This service is expected to further enhance the capabilities of integrated services post cadres in addressing stunting in Muara Enim.
