Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) Two Stay Two Stray learning model is more effective than conventional learning models of students' self-confidence. (2) the Two Stay Two Stray learning model is more effective than the conventional learning models of students' learning achievement. (3) there are differences in self-confidence and mathematics learning achievement between students taught using the Two Stay Two Stray learning model and those taught using conventional learning models. (4) Two Stay Two Stray learning models are more effective than conventional learning models of students' self-confidence and mathematics learning achievement. Data collection techniques carried out in the experimental class, namely class VII C and class VII E using tests, and questionnaires. The learning achievement test instrument consists of 25 multiple choice questions, the questionnaire instrument consists of 25 statement items. The test instruments and questionnaires were first tested in the pilot class, class VII A to determine the validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques used with a significance level of 5% are the right hand one-tailed t test, the Manova one-way test, and the τ2– Hotelling test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that: (1) Two Stay Two Tray learning model is more effective than those taught using conventional learning models of students' self confidence. (2) Two Stay Two Tray learning models are more effective than those taught using conventional learning models on student learning achievement. (3) There is a difference in self-confidence and learning achievement between students taught using the Two Stay Two Stray learning model and those taught using the conventional model. (4) The Two Stay Two Stray learning model is more effective than the conventional model of self-confidence and mathematics learning achievement in the basic methods of equation and linear inequality of one variable.

Abstract

The use of multimedia learning today is an absolute demand in the world of education. However, there are still many schools that have not implemented multimedia in the learning process. Learning that is done in the classroom is still less effective, motivation and ability to understand students' concepts are still lacking. Learning multimedia will be developed with the SwiSHmax application to get valid criteria to be able to overcome the problems that exist in schools. The type of research used is Research and Development (RnD) research. The development steps used in this study adapt the development steps of ADDIE starting from the analysis phase, the design stage, the development stage, the application stage, and the evaluation stage. The validation questionnaire results showed the average validator rating reached 4.22, which means that the multimedia that was developed was included in the valid category. The results of the calculation of the practicality value of learning multimedia were 87.97%. Based on the results of the validation and practicality of learning multimedia, it can be concluded that this learning multimedia is included in the appropriate category for use in learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe students' problem solving abilities in completing linear programs through the Newman stages. This article uses qualitative. Data collection was obtained from the method of setting, testing, and interviewing. There are 36 students in class IX PS 2 as the subject of this article. The subject's abilities are categorized as high, medium, and low. Descriptive analysis was obtained from 9 students who represented each level. Test the validity of the data by triangulation. The results of the analysis obtained an average problem solving ability using the Newman stage, namely the ability to read problems 85.6% classified well, the ability to solve problems 80% classified well, the ability to transform 82.59% classified well, the ability to process 73.3% classified good, the ability to solve answers 67.7% classified sufficiently. Of the 8 levels of ability obtained by 8 high-skilled students require new procedures well in solving problems, 24 capable students are having difficulty in the process of problem transformation, and 4 low-ability students are unable to handle new procedures.

Abstract

The learning mathematics to students will be easier to master and understand the concept of linear equation material of one variable through the ROPES learning model. This study aims to determine that with the application of ROPES learning model on linear equation material of one variable can improve students’ learning result, students’ activities, and teachers’ performance. The subject of this study is the students of class VII B in the first semester at MTS Matholiul Ulum Banjaragung, Bangsri, Jepara in 2019/2020. Instruments were tests sheet and questionnaires. The type of this research is a classroom action research with two cycles where each cycle there are two meetings. The stages include planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The results showed an increase in student's ability to solve problems about linear equations of one variable. Based on reflection results in cycles 1 and II, it showed: 1) Students’ learning result is increased, in the cycle I the average result was 64.90 and in cycle II reached 73.18. 2) In cycle I of the first meeting was 59.67% categorized ‘enough’. The second was 6601% categorized ‘good’, and in the cycle II reached 81.15% categorized ‘very good’. 3) Increased teacher performance in the first cycle was 60% categorized medium, the second meeting reached 70% categorized high, and in cycle II reached 80% categorized very high.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to get results of interactive CD development valid, practical and effective statistical material. The type of this research is development research which refers to ADDIE (Analysis, Desigh, Development, Implementation aand Evaluatin). The subject of this research is xi grade of SMK Bhakti Praja 2 Batang. The instrument used in this research is (1) media expert evaluation questionnaire (2) material expert evaluation questionmire (3) student response questionnaire (4) student evaluation questions. The method used in gathering the data is, by doing observations, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The results of this study show the validty quality of the interactive CD meetr valid criteria shown by media experts who obtained and average score of 3,8 from maximum score 4 which is good, while material experts get 4,1 from maximum score 5 which means good. Quality of practicality of learning devices practical criteria indicate by the average score of student 4,01 from maximum score 5 which means good. Quality of effectiveness of learning devices in terms of students’ mathematical communication skills meet practical criteria shown by the percentage of students completeness 87,5% which means good. Of the 32 student, there are 28 students who had completed grads.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students creative thinking skills in solving arithmetic progression and series problems with the open-ended method. The research method used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The selection of subjects uses a purposive technique that is based on certain characteristics. The subjects in this study were 3 junior high school students selected in the category of high matematical abilities. Methods of collecting data using tests, interviews, field notes, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the triangulation method to gain deeper understanding of the subject under study. Based on the results of the study show the ability of creative thinking of students because it meets the three indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency: students are able to calculate smoothly and solve problems correctly, flexibility: students are able to find other ways to find the same results, novelty: students are able to think in new ways and different from other subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the influence of 1) motivation on mathematical problem solving skills with Think Talk Write strategy, 2) skills of understanding of mathematical problem solving skills with Think Talk Write strategies, 3) motivation and skills understanding of mathematical problem solving skills with Think Talk Write strategies. Data collection techniques carried out in the experimental class namely class VII D and class VII E using tests, questionnaires, and observations. The test instrument for problem solving ability amounted to 10 items, the questionnaire amounted to 30 items, while the observation instrument amounted to 15 items. Test instruments and questionnaires were first tested in the trial class that is class VII C to determine validity and reliability. Data analysis using a simple linear regression test and multiple regression, with a significance level of 5%. The results were obtained 1) motivation influences the ability of mathematical problem solving with Think Talk Write strategy with a degree of influence 60.59%, 2) comprehension skills affect the ability to solve mathematical problems with Think Talk Write strategies with an effect of 59.3%, 3) motivation and comprehension skills affect the ability to solve mathematical problems with the Think Talk Write strategy with a 65.99% effect.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a culture-based mathematics learning model through traditional Javanese games and find out the feasibility so that it could be used for elementary school students. This development research uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Through these stages of development, it produce culture-based mathematics learning model through traditional Javanese games products with the main products in the form of model books, student books, teacher books, syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheets. The research subjects were 19 fourth grade students at Klegenwonosari Elementary School. The data collection techniques in this study were carried out test and non-test. The data analysis technique in this study was in scores and percentages. Starting from the needs analysis of learning models, culture-based needs analysis, and curriculum analysis it is known that the use of mathematical learning models through traditional games has been done but outside learning, students were lack of knowledge about the traditional Javanese culture games that were Gobag Sodor and Engklek. Based on the results of the study, the mathematical learning model through traditional Javanese games fulfills the valid criteria with an average score of 3.79 from the model expert's assessment. Fulfill the effective criteria by obtaining the results of completeness of students 84.21% and get very positive students responses with a percentage of 90.90%. Therefore, Culture-based Mathmatics learning model through traditional Javanese games is suitable for elementary students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of students algebraic reasoning mathematics learning in elementary school. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects 3 students was fifth grade students of elementary school in Purworejo. The selection of subjects techniques in this study is snowball. Data collection uses learning activities with supporting media in the form of student worksheets, observation sheets, field notes and interviews. Data analysis techniques used from Miles & Hubermen which include three activities namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that there are activities in mathematics learning that have not entered the level of algebraic reasoning put forward by Godino namely level 1,5. These stages are passed gradually from level 0 to level 3 and passed level 1,5, that is, linking the concept of constructing a square with an algebraic symbol before reaching level 2. Subject activity carried out at this level are more about linking objects with other concepts in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This qualitative research aims to describe activity of students mathematical combinatorial thinking in constructing of the opportunity concept. The subject of the study is two students of Junior High School who had the ability in constructing concept. Data collection was obtained at the time of learning carried out based on learning plan as research instruments. The results showed a combinatorial thinking activity in constructing concepts. Counting processes are showen by students identifying dice and coins, solving theoritical opportunities problems with tables or diagrams, and solving empirical opportunities problems. Formulas/exspressions are showen by students being able to construct sampel points and sample space, construct theoritical opportunities concept, and make mathematical formulas of opportunities. Set of outcomes is showen by students being able to find the results of solving theoritical opportunity problems of one/or more dice and coins as well as the results of solving empirically opportunity problems.
