Abstract

Fluor Albus (leucorrhea) is an abnormal vaginal secretion in women. Almost all women have experienced leucorrhea. In normal conditions, this is actually normal. This becomes a problem and is called "leucorrhea" if the condition is too much, itchy, smelly, and painful. Factors that influence leucorrhea include personal hygiene, stress levels and physical activity in adolescents. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and genital hygiene with the incidence of fluor albus in class X female students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sumedang. The type of research used is quantitative research which is descriptive analytical with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were 52 class X female students, with a sample size of 39 female students using the total sampling technique. The analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and the occurrence of fluor albus with a ρ-value of 0.004, and there was a relationship between genital hygiene and the occurrence of fluor albus with a ρ-value of 0.003. Female students who have a good level of knowledge about genital hygiene behaviour are less likely to suffer from fluor albus. It is hoped that female students will gain a lot of knowledge from research on fluor albus, namely how to carry out genital hygiene care.

Abstract

The incidence of anemia in adolescent girls is still high at 32%. Teenage girls with anemia during the pregnancy period can result in the risk of infant and maternal mortality, as well as low birth weight babies. The study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and menstrual cycles with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at SMKN X Sumedang. The type of study is correlational. The population is all female students who have anemia. The number of samples is 67 female students. Inclusion criteria include adolescent girls with anemia (Hb levels <12 g/dL), not on a diet, not menstruating, and grade X. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. The instrument uses a checklist, observation sheet, and Hb examination (quick check). Data analysis uses the Spearman rank test. The results of the study did not show a relationship between the level of knowledge and menstrual cycles with the incidence of anemia (p >0.05). Evidenced by the level of expertise of respondents included in the good category and experienced mild anemia (19.4%), moderate (32.8%), and severe (3%). Meanwhile, respondents with a low level of knowledge have experienced mild to moderate anemia (22.4%). Meanwhile, adolescent girls experienced normal menstrual cycles and mild anemia (31.3%), moderate (50.7%), and severe (1.5%). Meanwhile, respondents experienced irregular menstrual cycles and mild anemia (10.5%), moderate (4.5%), and severe (1.5%). Future researchers can investigate other factors that cause anemia.

Abstract

Ventilator-associated Pneumonia (VAP) is a lung infection that occurs in patients who use mechanical ventilation for breathing. Neonates and children with respiratory distress who require mechanical ventilation have a higher risk of developing VAP. Neonates and children using breathing apparatus in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) are prone to Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP). Therefore, VAP prevention should be considered one of the most important issues in NICU and PICU care. This study aims to identify VAP prevention efforts in the NICU and PICU. The research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative. This study's sampling technique used the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with six nurse participants who worked in the NICU and PICU of a regional public hospital in Bandung using a semi structured interview format. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Three main themes describe implementing VAP prevention efforts in the NICU and PICU. The first theme concerns VAP prevention efforts that are still not optimal. Some VAP prevention measures implemented include hand washing, gloves usage, sterile suctioning techniques, head up 30-45 degrees, and oral hygiene. At the same time, other actions have not been routinely carried out. The second theme is the existence of barriers to implementing VAP prevention, and the third theme is related to the need to increase the capacity of nurses and support facilities. Based on the study's results, nurses revealed that the implementation of the VAP prevention program in the NICU and PICU had not run optimally, one of which could be caused by limited infrastructure and nurses' competence. Thus, it is necessary to increase the knowledge and skills of nurses related to VAP and provide adequate infrastructure.

Abstract

Critically ill children admitted to intensive care units experience complex physical and emotional challenges, not only for themselves but also for their families. Family-centered care (FCC) has become a cornerstone in children's critical care, emphasizing collaboration, respect, and shared decision-making between healthcare teams and families. Despite growing recognition of its benefits, the practical roles of families in children's intensive care unit settings remain diverse and sometimes underutilized across different healthcare systems and cultural contexts. This research aims to identify the family's role in caring for critically ill children in the intensive care unit. This research method uses narrative review. Articles were collected from Pubmed, ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost, and Google Scholar. The keywords used were critically ill children OR children in PICU OR children in NICU AND family involvement OR role of family OR family participation OR family-centred care OR FCC AND intensive care unit OR critical care with boolean "OR" and "AND". Inclusion criteria were free full-text, years of publication between 2020-2025, and articles in Indonesian or English. The search results obtained 11.345 articles, and only 10 articles met the criteria, which were then analyzed. Across various studies, families, particularly parents, emerged as essential components in the care of critically ill children. Their roles extended beyond traditional caregiving and encompassed several interconnected domains: emotional support and security, physical and emotional presence, advocacy and care partnership, participation in daily care, communication and shared decision-making, creating a sense of home and normalcy, coping and post-discharge involvement. Families contribute not only emotional and physical support but also advocacy, caregiving participation, and partnership in decision-making, all of which enhance patient outcomes and support holistic care delivery. Nurses are pivotal in operationalizing family-centred care principles and ensuring meaningful family involvement in caring for critically ill children in the intensive care unit.

Abstract

Pregnant women should consume Fe during pregnancy, in addition to consuming folic acid. The function of folic acid can increase the enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) which are important for metabolism in the liver. Design of the study used generic exploratory research design. This study investigated the role of cadres in improving the health of pregnant women regarding compliance with taking Fe and folic acid tablets Method Data collection techniques used in-depth interviews with freer questions than semi-structured interviews with in-depth interviews. Testing the validity of the interview guidelines using pilot interviews Results were focus of cadre activities during posyandu and Factors influencing cadres to play an active role. In Conclusion, the role of health cadres is less effective. This is due to factors that influence the role of cadres, namely the lack of knowledge of cadres regarding the benefits and impacts of taking FE tablets and folic acid for pregnant women, the cadres are still waiting for instructions from the midwife.
